- ➽ Discover the Danish utopian city in a authenthic documentary
➽ In Denmark, there is an atypical example of an alternative
community. It all began in 1971, when a group of young people
decided to move into an old disused military base located in the
heart of Copenhagen. Little by little, the organization developed
and a collective society took shape. That's how Christiana started.
➽ This alternative community proposes a new model of society based
on solidarity and freedom. Welcoming people from all
geographical and social origins, Christiania is also a place of artistic
creativity. Every individual, musicians, painters and original
architects takes part in the development of the community.
➽ The residents, aware of society issues within modern civilization,
experience a new way of life which seeks the respect of
environment and returns to basic principles of democracy.
This documentary also displays problems within christianites: they
had to repurchase the land from the danish government and to face
the issues relating to the free use of drugs in Pusher Street. Through
this testimony, they show us that their project is a daily struggle but
also a necessary space of freedom.
➽ After the controversies relating to the possible dismantling of
Christiania, this film was released in 2013.
➽ The director bears witness to this unusual social experience
allowing its main representatives such as the police head of
Copenhagen, Per Larsen, Christiana TV journalist , Tanja Bjørn Zabell
or the alternative musician Joker to express themselves.
➽ Christiania: a free way of life, with its original soundtrack and
photography, invites the viewer to gain inside to what this danish
community stands for .By doing so, it allows a fresh look at the
issues of the 21st century.
➽ The documentary was selected for the Medimed Festival 2016 and
broadcast to the Cinéma Etoile in Lille and the preview was in Instants Chavirés in Paris in 2013.

Really well made documentary. Enjoyed the funky music. The words of the man towards the end were very wise, and a great way to end the video.
I have never in my life wanted to move somewhere more than this… I am riddled with PTSD and other mental health issues and I simply cannot function in the UK. This place looks like heaven to me. ANYTHING & EVERYTHING CREATIVE ❤

In the early 90’s I took part in a Peace Walk with the Rainbow Tribe. Afterwards I visited Christiania and stayed in what was called the Blue House. I made friends with a bloke I met on the Peace Walk called Jean-Pascal and he was a Frenchman. Does anyone know if he is still living there in 2021??

I love the whole ideas their whole thing about democracy and how they run the place but they had not reinventing the wheel here they just pick and choose what they want from society has been around and functioning for I don't know how long it depends what country you're in I guess. But I mean everybody wish they can live in a little bubble where they pick and choose the good things they like about democracy and pretending on the other stuff exist like just all about for themselves like any other fledgling country. A little utopian place whatever you want to call them.

I lived next to it, and was always totally against drugs. One day i wandered into Christiana. Everyone was smiling for some reasons haha :D I walked through the market and saw old ladies buying pure skunk Joints already rolled from the market tables and thought.. well if they can do it and they look fine.... I bought a pure skunk (Prob not good for a first time) went down by the lake, used my bag as a pillow, it was sunny, some super model looking hippy Danish girls were dancing around with tambourines and bells around their ankles. I lit up that Joint... there was the fresh smell of a BBQ wafting over... the music got louder but remained peaceful and I lay back in total heaven away from politics, away from news and all the government nonsense. A happy time. (oh I wasn't ever against Drugs like this ever again btw, this is totally the opposite of what they WARN you about. There's nothing harmful about these ones and I even took my nan too. She loved it).

anarchism is about decentralized and self organization it's not about disorder, that is what people got it wrong, almost all forms of anarchism is about anti-establishment. Etymologically An-archy is the opposite of Hier-archy (not opposite of order) and that is the root of the movement in philosophical terms, most anarchist are not chaotic people, they are well organized, democratic, empathetic and decentralized and governments hate that people can actually be self sufficient and in reality do not need hierarchal government structures to thrive. I think it is time for the world to actually embrace the teachings of the movements like anarcho-capitalism, free markets and the Non-aggression principle...and promote a flat structure of power

@@amazingabby25 No, that's not what I'm saying. I do not judge, nor do I put people in boxes in the prejudiced way. some people are racists, but not the majority at all. Neither in Denmark, nor in the rest of the world. To claim that racism does not exist in Christiania is a narrative that is completely out of hemp.
PS: I come to Christiania regularly, and have done so all my life. I have friends who live out there. Christianitter are just as diverse as you, me, and everyone else.
I love how any anarcho-communist community instantly creates rules, laws, borders, internal resource allocation, and free market capitalism just like in a normal society.
The only difference other people (leader of the anarchists) want to be undemocratically in control in anarcho-communist communities instead of the democratically voted politicians.
Also cut all outside electricity, gas, child allocations, unemployment money, ambulances calls, etc, if they want to be a real autonomous commune instead of living of the capitalist free market taxpayers back of Denmark. Other people in society pay these Christianites lifestyle. Christiana is another proof that without capitalist free market money socialism cannot exist. Even the areas drug pushers know that and are very fond of capitalist money in their "free" area to live the "free" from capitalism lifestyle. Christiana is so dependent on capitalism of the city and state that it makes the autonomous claims ridiculous.
