This is what great music sounds like. You know when you hear it. It is great from beginning to end. The hand of the master is evident in every gesture. I never tire of hearing this masterpiece. Solti's performance is certainly violently erotic as it should be. Bartok at his best!
Though they reputedly didn’t always get on too well, Solti’s performances with the L.S.O. from the early to late 60’s are always outstanding and show his talent at its height as one of the most dynamic and exciting conductors.
SONY has reissued this piece done by Jean Martinon and the Chicago Symphony as part of a 10 CD set (for $35) of all of the RCA recordings the JM did in Chicago during his brief tenure as conductor with the SCO. Terrific stuff and the Bartok is amazingly good!
@@utaisa9397I’ve always preferred the sound of Solti’s London recordings to those he made in Chicago probably because Decca’s recording venues there were so good.

I agree but irrelevant.
Today, September 26th, 2020 is the 75th anniversary of the master's death. I listened to the quartet #5 and this suite in his honor.
Excellent! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, very fast but no-one could ever accuse Solti of being dull.
If that's fast, you should see Abbado's BBC Proms 1986 performance with the same orchestra.

The LSO at its peak. Raw Bartok depicting serial murder. Wow. The two hawk faces. All that paprika. Oh and a superbly mystical MFSPC.
I like this era, too. solti & LSO performance and superb recording

No wonder he won all those Grammys!
from PERSIA with Passion
holy hell this sounds impossible to play.
The clarinet solos especially :X
It's totally playable, especially compare to the finale from the Concerto for Orchestra 😂😂
It's actually harder than the Concerto for Orchestra
