Alan, thanks for answering my question about adding "sweet water tails" to my proofing water. Since I am aging in Badmo, I do intend to add a little sweet water to the barrel, and MAY add some for proofing down for bottling. Since the Badmo has a spout, I don't really bottle that often😉.
Re the recent federal injunction on home distilling, I have carefully read the lawsuit and the injunction. You are correct that it only applies to members of the Hobby Distillers Association as written, and only a few of those who filed the lawsuit were approved. The injunction said nothing about paying excise tax or licensing your Distilled Spirits Plant (DSP) so those requirements still apply, even if you never sell a drop of your spirit. To be able to distill legally at the federal level you must have an approved DSP license and pay tax on every proof gallon you produce, not to mention a bunch of paperwork. However, the injunction says that you can no longer be denied a DSP license if your distillery has the same address as your residence. Also, even if you get a DSP license, you may need, depending on where you live, a state and even town license. And if you live in an HOA they may forbid it too. For more information you might want to head over to the Hobby Distillers Association website.

Dang right. Then we wouldn't have to hide our crafts as much. It would make it a lot more relaxing for beginners like myself.

I have been using dry strawberries a fair bit. Made a strawberries gin liquor and strawberry gin a few times and the dry strawberries work way better both post distillation macerating and pre gin spirit run

@@ronford1086 yes, use Sweetwater, but only in small proportions.
