My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

The Rodin museum is the only museum on my list when I visit Paris next month for the first time. And it’s really to honor Camille Claudel. That movie had such an impact on me. Also rewatched Midnight in Paris recently and they filmed a scene there and mentioned Camille Claudel.

Great video Jay. I was very happy you mentioned your mother and her influence on your early life. I was always curious about her. I just wanted to say I am glad you are moving beyond her negativity. Just know that hurt people hurt people. I'm not making excuses for her but I just wanted to suggest that her being unable to encourage you could have resulted from her own childhood traumas. Either way please know how wonderfully you've turned out as a person who brings joy to so many people worldwide who follow your and Cooper's magical adventures throughout Paris and the world. Keep making excellent art and thank you for sharing your life with us all.

Mothers… my sister and I have had many ‘therapy’ sessions talking extensively about Mum especially since she passed away. As children we were constantly compared to other families daughters and criticised for not being thinner, prettier, smarter etc. It’s not easy being a parent and coping with the needs of children. I have tried super hard with my kids to let them be who they want to be and not criticise their lives.

It's very healthy to find your limits as long as you don't destroy yourself in the process. Personally, I find that I need one day off a week from working out or I burn out either physically or psychologically or both. I did several stretches of daily workouts for 6 months and each time ended up seriously overtrained. It all depends on how hard you're pushing yourself. I was pushing my limits. A lot of professional endurance athletes work out daily for 6 to 8 week blocks with increasing effort throughout the block and then take a few days off.
