I know. We Americans are so lazy about our democracy. It's really sad. When I was in college, I once spent a few days trying to get people to sign a petition to keep the school from censoring an art show. Only people in the art and writing programs and the foreign students would sign it. So many people said " I don't want to get involved " like they thought they would somehow be punished if someone saw their name

It's somewhere between insane, ridiculous & scary that standing in line for hours to vote is normal for a lot of US citizens.
It's impossible that a modern society couldn't avoid that if they wanted - easy access to mail-in ballots would solve the problem, and a society that allows circumstances like that very clearly doesn't _want_ their constituents to vote.

Pretty naive to think that learning about human biology is all that's needed to settle the pro-life vs pro-choice debate.
In fact, a lot of people on the left straight up get the biology wrong, so we know the arguing principal definitely has nothing to do with biology (specifically referring to how many people seem to think a fetus isn't a human).
In reality, the left doesn't care at all about the moral implications to late term abortions, while the right does.
The left is more so focused on pragmatism. So even if it's a late term abortion where the fetus can survive on it's own, they generally don't care and think the woman should always have the freedom to terminate.
Arguing with those folks is a lot like arguing against eating meat as a vegan, they just don't care at all about the moral implications of the action lol.

@@kristynamalikova5399 The fetus isn't using it's mother for its benefit. The fetus's life and development is dependent on the mother's. It's not like the fetus is making the conscious decision to hijack another person's body. In the worst case scenario, neither the mom nor fetus consent to the situation. In the best case scenario, the fetus doesn't consent and the mom does.
So no matter what you are enforcing a non-consensual act onto another human. Whether it's by the government or not is irrelevant.
The fetus lacking capabilities isn't a real justification to not give it moral consideration.
When adult humans lack capabilities, we don't use that as justification to make it okay killing them. The only time we justify killing humans medically is if they're comatose, and that only works because of the assumption that they will not be conscious again. This is not true of fetuses, as they will likely be conscious in a few weeks (roughly around 12-20 weeks is the window for when the parts needed for consciousness arise).
