Wheel of Fortune had three of the greatest game show theme songs back to back to back. The original version; (1975-1983 Chuck Woolery Era); (Changing Keys I 1983-1989; and Changing Keys II this theme 1989-1992)
Dude, I saw Pat's entire eulogy of Charlie O'Donnell & I totally agree that he & Vanna lost their enthusiasm until Jim Thornton showed up to replace him!
I didn't watch this show until 1996, but this theme's pretty catchy! And for those who never knew, this theme was used for the Sega CD Video Game released in 1994.
Daytime (CBS/NBC, 1989-1991) "From Hollywood the famous wheel is spinning, spinning, spinning and the players will be winning, winning, winning because there's lots of cash and fabulous prizes just waiting to be won today on Wheeeeeel of Fortune! Now here's your host, Bob Goen and your hostess Vanna White." Nighttime (1989-1992, also used on various episodes and most road shows through Season 11) "From our studios in Hollywood, it's America's most watched game show. The famous wheel is spinning your way with lots of cash and fabulous and exiting prizes, over $104,000 just waiting to be won this week. And now here are your host and hostess, Pat Sajak and Vanna White."
tbone24100, I came across daytime Wheel Of Fortune by accident, on day in the summer of 1990, during the summer reruns of CBS daytime Wheel Of Fortune. I was wondering what happened to Pat Sajak, and why is the wheel full of cheap dollar amounts?
Pat Sajak left the Daytime Wheel of Fortune for his late night talk show on CBS. NBC cancelled the Daytime Wheel and it moved to CBS. The CBS version got cancelled and then it moved back to NBC and then finally cancelled in 1991.
Judging by the sound of the sax, I believe it was Dave Boruff. He played saxophone on the following heard here. ruclips.net/video/XyYGgsbcc-g/видео.htmlsi=7UeMignGtWAD94kG
(Daytime NBC/CBS) "WHEEL OF FORTUNE" is Produced by Merv Griffin Enterprises! (Nighttime Syndication) "WHEEL OF FORTUNE" is Produced by Merv Griffin Enterprises, Distributed by KingWorld!
After listening to this music, I can clearly see why Merv Griffin titled it Changing Keys, because the keys keep changing up on you. Starts off with G sharp major, then segues into C major, then A major, then C sharp major, then F major. Yet the melody hasn’t changed, the keys have.
This theme IS Wheel Of Fortune!!! They should bring this back!
Yes, I fully agree (or the 1992-1994 version), I HATE that current theme music, it's boring....
+jim hatten they need to bring this back and give it a update sound like an edm and please bring back the backdrops please
Kei Nanjo, yes they should!
I second that. It’s very nostalgic.😁 Other versions of the theme is kinda...Meh....😑
Kei Nanjo yeah I miss this theme song
The best version I ever heard! Late 80's early 90's Smooth Jazz!
I agree 100%! I like this verson the best.
Why is this Wheel of Fortune theme so popular? Because it's so easy to dance to, and the saxophone sounds lovely!

@@tonybidwell2582 Jim does really well too
The saxophone melody definitely spells 1989.

One Of The Best Themes

Yup also the best edition of the theme!
I love this theme I use to spin & dance to it as a child
This should be the one and only theme song for wheel

Your welcome it's one of my favorites
At the beginning of the CBS 1989 run their closing theme was actually the opening for about a week..

A lot better than the 80s theme. I loved the Bob Goen years!
+Amy Collins True... Wished the cash & prizes wasn't so cheap!!! lol
Well, you had the nighttime version
tbone24100, same here. It was pocket change on a wheel. Let's see if we can solve the puzzle for some lunch money.
Merv Griffin had a reputation for being tight.
I can't help thinking, I wonder if that saxophonist was Gary Herbig or even Dave Boruff.

This music makes me want to head down to the Jersey Shore and go to a beach party. I always loved the "WOF" themes. Not that newer theme.
Adam Smith, you got that right!
genxman fromthe1980s Same here, except my beach party would've been in Los Angeles!
They should’ve kept this throughout the show’s run, since Merv Griffin wrote the music and he created this show to begin with.

Disco biscuits used this once for PlayStation theater 2016 during the wheel set they should do it again in 2020
