this is the best Demo video of this P5NC on the web, giving you the real sound of it as it it was in front of you in the same room rather than all those professionally miced up demos with people doing stupid crazy fast fiddly solo riff demos. this video you hear the natural sound and tone of the guitar and the sustain of it and how it sings. Great video just what im looking for in a guitar and a demo video both as good as each other ;) Thank you GAK!
I bought a P6NC and it is an awesome guitar. These demos do not do these guitars justice. I'll also add that many think Takamine are budget only guitars. Truth, Takamine make guitars that are known for good value for money. But often people are surprised by the prices of their pro series line up. These are very high caliber guitars. Before I bought mine I spent a lot of time comparing to Taylor, Martin, Cole Clark and Maton. For me the Tak was a clear winner and to be comparable I had to look at those other brands in a higher price bracket. Takamine may not be for everyone but they are certainly worth seeking out and having a try of their higher end line up. Those not hung up on a name will likely find they are very surprised. They still may not be for you or you may just find that guitar you have always been looking for.
i have a p6nc also.....very nice guitar. maybe a little heavy but love the sound and the feel of the neck....not too skimpy. they should do better demos. i would like to see a better demo for the p5nc.
greg romero I agree they are a little on the heavy side but coming from a super light parlor I've already adapted. They play like a lighter guitar despite that bit of extra weight. I also agree there needs to be some better reviews out there on them. I had a chance to play a Takamine Pro cedar top and it was also a lovely guitar. They may not be the guitar for everyone but I think everyone should at least give the Takamine Pro lineup a try, it could just be that special something a person is looking for.
good point shawnee. thanks for the info on the cedar top...i never played one. what do you know about the p5nc? as i said, the p6nc has grown on me and it will only get better with age. i like their medium meaty necks. cheers!
greg romero Hey Greg, I have not played a 5. I agree about the maple getting better with age. I think it's an under praised tone wood. Especially once it's loosened up and matured with age. Maple just seems to take longer to get to that stage then many other woods.
does this model actually sound thin such in this video, as it seems like it has a low volume? Or it has the rich sound corresponding to rosewood? does it feel responsive? Also, is the neck comfortable? any similarities with a taylor 814ce?
Seems like you really had to attack those strings pretty aggressively to get a decent volume out of the guitar. I think I'd rather have something that will be more responsive to some of the softer music I play. still, I imagine it is a well built guitar. At least I hope it is considering how much it cost. The only other Takamine I have played is the Glenn Frey signature and that guitar seemed to be built extremely well. Admittedly, I am more of an electric guitar player but would enjoy noodling around with an acoustic every so often. Thank you for the review.
Get a real pick.... That thing is sooo thin its making a nice guitar sound like junk. Nothing wrong with the guitar. Need at least a 2mm thick pick. Not a good demo at all. Sorry, just being honest. Schooled players have learned the thicker the pick the better if you want to bring out the purest sound from any acoustic guitar.

Thank you for the demo. Since this is a guitar for singers, it might have been a good idea to show it at work with a variety of singers.

On the last song you played, what is the first bottom chord you played and are you in standard tuning? Btw, I own a P5NC Triax. Great guitar.
