Thanos isn't just strong because of an Infinity stone, he is a hardened veteran of war who knows how to pick apart an opponent in under a minute after encountering them. This fight and it's outcome was to entirely show how much of a threat Thanos is, by himself. Snapping Loki's neck and destroying the Asgardian ship was just the icing on the cake to show us how devasting he is. Infinity War was all about Thanos. The Avengers never stood a chance because they weren't prepared, nor did they behave like a team..
It was the most awesome opening scene EVER!!! We leaned why Thanos is so feared!!! No infinity stones were used - confirmed by directors. When Thanos removed the Hulk' s strangle hold by use of his own brut strength by pulling the Hulk s arms apart... it showed he was physically stronger than the Hulk. People are missing that point!

This wasn't about fighting skills, they are changing the subject. This was about strength. Hulk was knocked out by 5 or 6 punches. No one has ever done that to him. Thanos easily overpowered him moving Hulk's hands off of him. Yet we never see any of Thanos' feats of strength. We see a different Hulk in the films than we see in the comics. And this was intentionally done. Hulk picked up Mjolnir in the comics, but can't in the films. Hulk beat all the Avengers by himself in the comics, but can't beat Thor nor Hulkbuster in the films. Hulk gets bigger and stronger the angrier he gets in the comics, but that has never happened in any of his films. Who is this imposter in the films?
You’re talking about the ultimate universe dog. In that one the comics are more grounded and most heroes are weaker than per usual but the hulks concept of power and growing in strength is still op so he can take out a lot of heavy hitters like even Thor because of it
This was about fighting skills. Thanos is trained in many forms of martial art and throughout his years as a conqueror has learned patience and concentration. Hulk, who’s good at neither, only brute strength which was overpowered without any stone because Thanos was physically stronger. And we do see his feats of strength later (grabbing the stone from vision, pushing Wanda) But since at the time he’s in battle he has no need to use his strength after collecting more stones, sort of the point why he left his armor on the asguardian spaceship.

I was so excited for a rematch between these two in endgame. Imagine when everyone was trying to keep Thanos from the Gauntlet, you hear a mighty roar followed by thooming footsteps. Hulk stomping hei was towards Thanos, eyes glowing green. “Purple man hurt Hulk! Purple man hurt hulks friends!” The two engage in a close hand to hand combat exchange, short and sweet with hulk knowing Thanos back, suprise on the Titans face hulk shouts “Purple man think he stronger than Hulk”!? Hulk and Thanos grapple, “HULK STRONGEST THERE IS”!! Overpowering the Titan until Thanos has to use an infinite stone(s) to knock hulk away. This would have been far more satisfying that the lame Cap.Marvel scene...

No, the angrier he gets the stronger he is. Hulk getting smashed like he did wouldn't have made it angry. It would've made him confused. During he's entire existence he's been able to wallop anyone who's fought him. Sure, peopole have been able to give him a good hammering but ultimately he was still able to hit them back and out up a good fight. Thanos just didn't allow that . Hulk went from destroying him to getting his tail whooped. You could even see him get angrier and try to hit back but thanks would just block it or side step it. He never had the chance to get angrier or even land a hit. He just got smacked harder than he ever has a defeated long before he could ever get mad enough to actually push through and beat him. He just got his tail whooped and didn't know how to respond

Not really.. even hulk admitted to Thor he could not control his blazing fire like range.. and cannot control his actions in the bonding they went through after His bath. Thor dismantled him initially in the arena even though he Was weaker than hulk (before hulk got a rage power up and completely overwhelmed Thor ofc). It'd be interesting to see, cos Bruce Banner is a genius scientist but not a fighter. He managed to pull if off in the Hulkbuster but that was against a fairly mindless beast who could be tricked like Hulk could. Would he really have the battle smarts to out-strategist someone like Thanos?
In the comics Thanos was stronger than the original Hulk and routinely beat the Hulk senseless. In other versions of the Hulk they make him OP and corny in the process. Kinda like how Superman can be because no matter what he's super duber sTrONg.

Instead of captain marvel killing thanos (please no)... I wouldn't actually be able to control myself if hulk finally reappears in a dramatic build up... I would love it all hope seems lost and the pain of seeing even thor being beaten (who hulk bonded with during Thor Ragnorok), and then the worst thing that makes banner scream and hulk bursts out... thanos hurts black widow... the moment that happens...hulks finally reappears from banner...the moment everyones been waiting for, and hulks anger makes him the strongest he's ever been, making him even grow and glow... and he turns the tide of the battle. Thanos, though more skilled and intelligent, has no idea of hulks potential and underestimates him thinking he can just beat him again... The battle would be immense. What the Russos fail to acknowledge is that _Banner IS the Hulk_ and, if there are two distinct personalities going on here, we're talking about two sides of Banner in a schizophrenic state. The Hulk and Banner are two sides of the same coin and aren't separate entities, or at least they shouldn't. If Banner was physically in peril or about to be killed, there's little doubt the Hulk would emerge. A superior fighting style, as displayed by Thanos, might gain Thanos a few seconds of dominance, but if Thanos is as strong as Hulk, where did he get his strength? Do all Titans have the strength of the Hulk or did Thanos acquire it? If the latter, the Russos owe us an explanation. Either way, there has to be a rematch, and I hope it's not a kung-fu style fight between Professor Hulk and Thanos, but a complete meltdown by Hulk and a savage beat-the-crap-out-of-Thanos sort of thing. Hulk is about rage and complete loss of control. That's what I hope will beat Thanos, not a look-what-I-learned-from-Captain-America sort of thing.
If I remember correctly, Hulk *is* a dissociated identity in the comics. The other variations on Hulk, such as his Grey gangster persona (Joe Chill? I can't remember) are all splintered identities.

In response to the transfer of momentum. I think its due to both being so much more massive than others. Both hulk's and thanos' punches & kicks send others flying. But to each other, it just knocks them back a bit.
You need 4 main things to beat Thanos: -Strength (Hulk) -Intelligence ( Ironman) -Heart (Captain America) -Sacrifice (Thor) Notice how both Thor and Hulk alone couldn’t defeat Thanos in the beginning? And and also how Ironman and Captain America had no chance at 1v1? Basically what the director was trying to say is that you need all the main 4 characters together to beat Thanos became Thanos also has all of those characters in himself. He has strength, Intelligence, heart and he has sacrificed everything including what he loved. Thor also has to fight for the people who sacrificed themselves for him- Loki, Heimdal, and Asguardians. There are also other elements like - Time ( Dr Strange) that will aid them to be resurrected and united. In my opinion, Those 4 main characters will be the ones fighting Thanos at the end and someone’s going to die- Heart ( Captain America) because this character can be replaced by others like - Spider Man.... basically a young Captain America.
I think in endgame cap will be the strongest avenger for a short period of time, holding mjolnir and the old cap shield. And in this Form he will sacrifice himself for the greater good. I really feel like he was pretty weak in his recent movies and endgame means he'll improve for a last time.

The reason why is because the Idiot Director's don't respect Comic Lore. Thanos was afraid of the Hulk and actively avoided him. Nor have they depicted HULK's power's properly. Thanos can raise his stats for 10 rnds. Hulk's fighting stays at Shift-Z as long as he's fighting, making him the better fighter despite that Thanos having martial arts abilities. Hulk also regenerates at god like speed, something these ridiculous director's don't get.

You can clearly see that he never used the gauntlet during his fight with the Hulk. It’s also made abundantly clear in GOTG that Thanos is considered to be the strongest known being in the universe. Thanos immediately went for the vital points and incapacitated Hulk. That was the first time that Hulk ever fought anyone who was just innately as strong or stronger than he was. He couldn’t win with brute force alone.
You're forgetting about abomination, who was definitely a superior hulk, stronger, bigger, smarter, and more athletic than the usual hulk, but the regular hulk still manages to pull it off with his abilities, proving that he’s no ordinary brute. Ok. I want to come to terms with the fact that this isn't the frustratingly powerful comic book Hulk. This is MCU Hulk, but it's just sooooo difficult to accept. The Incredible Hulk is a motherfucking unstoppable rage monster!!! His anger is boundless. The more he gets beat, the more pissed he becomes, causing a subsequent increase in power. A vicious cycle with virtually no end. That's what makes him so dangerous. That's why Marvel characters put hardcore countermeasures in place to deal with him. For instance, Bruce Banner giving Hawkeye a way to kill him that I don't exactly remember when he felt he was starting to lose the ability to hold him back at all in the Civil War 2 storyline. No degree of fighting style prowess and intelligence is going to outmatch that in a basic fist fight. Not that Hulk. THAT HULK SMASH!!! You beat The Incredible Hulk by being a nigh immortal killing machine like Wolverine or an actual God like Thor or Superman. Pulling back from that rant on how the Hulk we know is supposed to work though. I know that this is a different Hulk. I know that the MCU is entirely its own thing within the Marvel multiverse. Regardless. If you wanna give the people what they want, give them World Breaker Hulk. Edit: It really bothers me that the MCU seems to have hit the most powerful of its characters with a 50 ton nerf hammer. I understand its for the sake of the plot. It's just insanely bothersome to the comic nerd brain. Vision for example is/was one of the most powerful characters the marvel universe has ever seen. Not Thanos level and of course had to die, but he fought like a bitch in Infinity War. He was essentially just dead weight for the entirety of the movie. Even harder than watching that though was watching the Hulk, THE FUCKING HULK, get beat down in less than a minute. That just doesn't make sense. Tony hit him with an elevator and A BUILDING in Age of Ultron. He just got up PISSED, started tearing apart the hulkbuster armor and denying veronica's attempts to help. It...it.....it just doesn't make sense. I know Thanos can beat the Hulk, but DEFINITELY not as easily as he did in Infinity War. Thanos had some thick ass plot armor. I loved Infinity War, but I certainly wasn't okay with every single detail.
Tbf Vision did get a fucking sci-fi spear through the chest right at the start of the film. It was established that something about the spear prevented him from phasing, meaning her was permanently wounded. Would make sense for him to not put on his best performance after that.
Even though Edward Norton / Mark Ruffalo are the same character for Bruce Banner / Hulk but just imagine if Norton wasn't replaced or being difficult to work with behind the scenes then we would've gotten his Hulk form during this fight even though he'll lose easily but still.
If they follow suit with what they've been doing and keeping characters power levels relative to the comics but dumbed down so as to not be too OP, then Thanos smashes the Hulk every time they meet. They've fought several times and Thanos has always decisively ko'd the hulk.

This wasn't about fighting skills, they are changing the subject. This was about strength. Hulk was knocked out by 5 or 6 punches. No one has ever done that to him. Thanos easily overpowered him moving Hulk's hands off of him. Yet we never see any of Thanos' feats of strength. We see a different Hulk in the films than we see in the comics. And this was intentionally done. Hulk picked up Mjolnir in the comics, but can't in the films. Hulk beat all the Avengers by himself in the comics, but can't beat Thor nor Hulkbuster in the films. Hulk gets bigger and stronger the angrier he gets in the comics, but that has never happened in any of his films. Who is this imposter in the films?

Hulk, who’s good at neither, only brute strength which was overpowered without any stone because Thanos was physically stronger. And we do see his feats of strength later (grabbing the stone from vision, pushing Wanda) But since at the time he’s in battle he has no need to use his strength after collecting more stones, sort of the point why he left his armor on the asguardian spaceship.

No, the angrier he gets the stronger he is. Hulk getting smashed like he did wouldn't have made it angry. It would've made him confused. During he's entire existence he's been able to wallop anyone who's fought him. Sure, peopole have been able to give him a good hammering but ultimately he was still able to hit them back and out up a good fight. Thanos just didn't allow that . Hulk went from destroying him to getting his tail whooped. You could even see him get angrier and try to hit back but thanks would just block it or side step it. He never had the chance to get angrier or even land a hit. He just got smacked harder than he ever has a defeated long before he could ever get mad enough to actually push through and beat him. He just got his tail whooped and didn't know how to respond

Mcu hulk did show he does get stronger when iron man hit him with an elevator he spited out a tooth but crashed into a entire skyscraper and was fine but the only reason he stopped was because the spell probably broke giving hulk a minute to calm down and get knocked out.

What the Russos fail to acknowledge is that _Banner IS the Hulk_ and, if there are two distinct personalities going on here, we're talking about two sides of Banner in a schizophrenic state. The Hulk and Banner are two sides of the same coin and aren't separate entities, or at least they shouldn't. If Banner was physically in peril or about to be killed, there's little doubt the Hulk would emerge. A superior fighting style, as displayed by Thanos, might gain Thanos a few seconds of dominance, but if Thanos is as strong as Hulk, where did he get his strength? Do all Titans have the strength of the Hulk or did Thanos acquire it? If the latter, the Russos owe us an explanation. Either way, there has to be a rematch, and I hope it's not a kung-fu style fight between Professor Hulk and Thanos, but a complete meltdown by Hulk and a savage beat-the-crap-out-of-Thanos sort of thing. Hulk is about rage and complete loss of control. That's what I hope will beat Thanos, not a look-what-I-learned-from-Captain-America sort of thing.

If I remember correctly, Hulk *is* a dissociated identity in the comics. The other variations on Hulk, such as his Grey gangster persona (Joe Chill? I can't remember) are all splintered identities.

In response to the transfer of momentum. I think its due to both being so much more massive than others. Both hulk's and thanos' punches & kicks send others flying. But to each other, it just knocks them back a bit.
That was my least favorite part in the movie, he definitely needs some redemption in Endgame...

You need 4 main things to beat Thanos:
-Strength (Hulk)
-Intelligence ( Ironman)
-Heart (Captain America)
-Sacrifice (Thor)
Notice how both Thor and Hulk alone couldn’t defeat Thanos in the beginning? And and also how Ironman and Captain America had no chance at 1v1? Basically what the director was trying to say is that you need all the main 4 characters together to beat Thanos became Thanos also has all of those characters in himself. He has strength, Intelligence, heart and he has sacrificed everything including what he loved. Thor also has to fight for the people who sacrificed themselves for him- Loki, Heimdal, and Asguardians. There are also other elements like - Time ( Dr Strange) that will aid them to be resurrected and united. In my opinion, Those 4 main characters will be the ones fighting Thanos at the end and someone’s going to die- Heart ( Captain America) because this character can be replaced by others like - Spider Man.... basically a young Captain America.

I think in endgame cap will be the strongest avenger for a short period of time, holding mjolnir and the old cap shield. And in this Form he will sacrifice himself for the greater good. I really feel like he was pretty weak in his recent movies and endgame means he'll improve for a last time.

The reason why is because the Idiot Director's don't respect Comic Lore. Thanos was afraid of the Hulk and actively avoided him. Nor have they depicted HULK's power's properly. Thanos can raise his stats for 10 rnds. Hulk's fighting stays at Shift-Z as long as he's fighting, making him the better fighter despite that Thanos having martial arts abilities. Hulk also regenerates at god like speed, something these ridiculous director's don't get.

You can clearly see that he never used the gauntlet during his fight with the Hulk. It’s also made abundantly clear in GOTG that Thanos is considered to be the strongest known being in the universe.
Thanos immediately went for the vital points and incapacitated Hulk. That was the first time that Hulk ever fought anyone who was just innately as strong or stronger than he was. He couldn’t win with brute force alone.
You're forgetting about abomination, who was definitely a superior hulk, stronger, bigger, smarter, and more athletic than the usual hulk, but the regular hulk still manages to pull it off with his abilities, proving that he’s no ordinary brute. I don't mind the Hulk losing to Thanos; I simply don't like how swiftly the Hulk was defeated; I wish the fight had lasted longer.

Ok. I want to come to terms with the fact that this isn't the frustratingly powerful comic book Hulk. This is MCU Hulk, but it's just sooooo difficult to accept. The Incredible Hulk is a motherfucking unstoppable rage monster!!! His anger is boundless. The more he gets beat, the more pissed he becomes, causing a subsequent increase in power. A vicious cycle with virtually no end. That's what makes him so dangerous. That's why Marvel characters put hardcore countermeasures in place to deal with him. For instance, Bruce Banner giving Hawkeye a way to kill him that I don't exactly remember when he felt he was starting to lose the ability to hold him back at all in the Civil War 2 storyline. No degree of fighting style prowess and intelligence is going to outmatch that in a basic fist fight. Not that Hulk. THAT HULK SMASH!!! You beat The Incredible Hulk by being a nigh immortal killing machine like Wolverine or an actual God like Thor or Superman. Pulling back from that rant on how the Hulk we know is supposed to work though. I know that this is a different Hulk. I know that the MCU is entirely its own thing within the Marvel multiverse. Regardless. If you wanna give the people what they want, give them World Breaker Hulk.
Edit: It really bothers me that the MCU seems to have hit the most powerful of its characters with a 50 ton nerf hammer. I understand its for the sake of the plot. It's just insanely bothersome to the comic nerd brain. Vision for example is/was one of the most powerful characters the marvel universe has ever seen. Not Thanos level and of course had to die, but he fought like a bitch in Infinity War. He was essentially just dead weight for the entirety of the movie. Even harder than watching that though was watching the Hulk, THE FUCKING HULK, get beat down in less than a minute. That just doesn't make sense. Tony hit him with an elevator and A BUILDING in Age of Ultron. He just got up PISSED, started tearing apart the hulkbuster armor and denying veronica's attempts to help. It...it.....it just doesn't make sense. I know Thanos can beat the Hulk, but DEFINITELY not as easily as he did in Infinity War. Thanos had some thick ass plot armor. I loved Infinity War, but I certainly wasn't okay with every single detail.
Tbf Vision did get a fucking sci-fi spear through the chest right at the start of the film. It was established that something about the spear prevented him from phasing, meaning her was permanently wounded. Would make sense for him to not put on his best performance after that.
They just had to buff the infinity stones but they were lazy
Even though Edward Norton / Mark Ruffalo are the same character for Bruce Banner / Hulk but just imagine if Norton wasn't replaced or being difficult to work with behind the scenes then we would've gotten his Hulk form during this fight even though he'll lose easily but still.
