I love his style of playing, but Bordin is nowhere near one of the all time greats. Not by any standards.
the music produced by some of the bands with drummers considered on a list of greatest, suck, so it's horses for courses ie. Blink 182, ACDC, Motley Crue, etc. Chad Smith is on 'greatest drummer' lists and Bordin is way better.

Go look upp Matt Garstka, Benny Greb, Gavin Harrison, Thomas Pridgen, Matt Halpern, Larnell Lewis, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta etc. etc. There are so many drummers that are on another level to Bordin. But like I said, he is a great drummer, just not one of the all time greats.

I like how Roddy is “killing” the sounds and fading it out and back.. what a stud! It certainly sounds more, “ WoodPeckery,” to my ears. 🙂
It sounded like genuine audio problems, IMO.

It was a sample loop point problem. The sample was cutting after one pass instead of continuing to play the note via a looped section of the sample. The tech who came out and fixed it must have gone into the settings for that sound and switched the loop cycle function back on.

Mike Bordin is genius
As great as this is....anytime they play it (which isn't often) it still seriously lacks Big Jims guitar playing. Yes Bordin, Gould and Roddy are amazing...and Pattons Tom Jones impression is fucking excellent....but...Woodpecker suffers from Jim's absence.
Ive seen them 11 times since 1990 and the Real Thing and Angel Dust tours still just cannot be matched...always a great show...but on those 2 tours this band was one of the best live bands on the scene hands down.
Does Mike Patton smoke? Or was that just part of the show?.....

That string session sounds T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E and is definitely a joy killer. Plus, I personally don't like it when artists implant their own style to the song they're covering, regardless of the core feel/idea of the original song.
Navid Alemy I personally don't like it when artists don't do that. If you're just playing it note for note trying to sound exactly like the original then don't cover it at all, just write a better song lol
Why cover a song if you’re just going to make it sound exactly like the original. Seems like a waste of time. But I agree that the audio issues on the keyboard were distracting.
