With lots of help from the trash driver, we find the recycle driver knocking out recycling in the early morning. I found him at the beginning of his route around 9 and then just finishing up… at 11:30 AM. I find it quite odd that while he gets off pretty early, trash is still being collected around 3:30 PM. The trash collector also told me that there is talk of sending these side Loaders out somewhere else and bringing in more Curotto’s, and the reason being is because these trucks really only handle the carts, and nothing else. Like we see in the video, it gets hard to toss boxes up that high, and if there’s heavier bulk this truck can’t take it. Personally, I might miss this truck because there aren’t many SLs in the area, or Pythons for that matter, but at the same time these trucks have that general CNG whine that most diesel fans like me can’t stand. This truck used to run in the Republic livery but was recently repainted into the Groot paint scheme as a result of a few recent acquisitions. It costs roughly $5,000 to repaint a single truck, and times about 50 trucks or so at the yard, which has costed the entire rebrand for the trucks alone about half a million dollars. All the trucks are being repainted into Groots colors because Groot acquired the Elgin and Aurora shops, and prior to that Groot was acquired by Waste Connections.
The yardwaste truck was just included because that was the only clip I could get of it. I think they started using 2286 because it has a carry can instead of a Curotto, which makes pickup easier. Anyway hope you enjoy this video, as lots of work went into producing it!

I think I’ve watched this video 3 times now. First of all, the truck looks really nice with the new paint. Second, seeing any variation of the LE(U)/Python combo brings back so many childhood memories. The driver is super efficient and made this video really fun to watch. The video itself is very well done too, nice quality. Great work, I hope to see more!
mndsi I’m very glad to hear that you are enjoying it so much!! I do agree, it looks fantastic in its new paint (plus, this is my favorite paint scheme from my area). This truck itself actually brings back lots of memories because when I was in 2nd grade, I used to live in this neighborhood and I got to see this truck, in Republic colors, every week! As far as getting more footage goes, they may be getting rid of these trucks and buying more Curotto’s, but I’ll certainly try my best to find it once more! I think the Pythons look AWESOME in Groot colors. I hope they don’t send these trucks somewhere else, the Pythons are a disappearing truck around here, which is very sad.

Great video I love this python considering I have a series of this and 2506. Also, it would make me sad if it got replaced with a curotto, I love this truck

Great video! As for the pythons I will miss seeing them around our area but I’ve seen a video where someone grabs a couch with this so I don’t see a problem with the bulk aspect (I don’t even think these do trash routes) and the carry cans I’ve seen a few running for there contract in Algonquin

I think that the truck is very limited to the bulk it can handle because if you had a bunch of 2x4’s they wouldn’t fit in the arm, and if they went in top of the arm they wouldn’t fit through the hopper. I do agree with you though, I think I would miss these trucks too. I think this yard is just really in favor of Curotto’s lol thanks for the comment!

Nate garbage trucks and lawn care I had no idea there was a Python on an Autocar. I talked to the driver of 2244 for a while and he said that not all trucks get sent out to Glen Ellyn which is the only place so can film Groot, so I’m not sure If I’d ever see it

he gets done at 1130 ? my guy is lucky to finish his 1st load by then lol everybody on recycle or greens by me is done by like 3 or 4 course 1 guy has to dump take lunch at the MRF then take a sht read the paper then start 2nd load for greens but when he goes on vaction for 3 weeks the sub driver is done by like noon and helping another route lol i know groot has west Chicago or part of it they still have mundelien? and all the other towns out there used to go to gages lake and i always seen them before it was groot i know the race track was torn down or somebody torched it lol Arlington race track i remember the bears were gonna move there
David Schieler Yep 11:30! Hahaha there’s always that one really slow guy lol. I’m pretty sure Groot has Mundelein and I know they still have West Chicago. I never knew that Bears were gonna move over there either sounds cool but I’m glad they didn’t
