Been watching your videos mate. They're brilliant. I've fixed a few machines over the years. Nice to see them getting repaired, as most repair men just usually tell you these days, to buy a new machine. You can tell the difference in build quality on a Miele.
Thanks mate, I just ordered a set of dampers after watching this video. My Miele W842 from 2000 (yes, 24 years old!) is on its third set of motor brushes (did those just two years ago) and will now get its third set of dampers. Should be good for another 12 years, taking it to 36 years of service.
Greetings from Australia!! Thanks for a great informative video. I just replaced the dampeners on my 18 year old W502. I bought the replacements online, cost me $91.00 AUD and it took me about 45 minutes to complete the job. Many thanks again 🇦🇺 🇦🇺
Thank you for giving me the confidence with such a detailed video to replace the dampers on my 21 year old W463 Miele. I watched your video after servicemen never returned my call. I knew I could do this and today I have a perfectly balanced washing machine. Thank you from Australia!
Nice job. We got Miele out to my Mothers 18 year old machine under their `fix everything you can think of' call out price. The shocks were all floppy like the ones in the video and some minor damage had been done when the machine attempted to spin an unbalanced load with the shocks not working (like wire terminals pulled partially out of their sockets). I asked that they change the main motor brushes as well which they did. Needn't have bothered, the brushes had little wear and would have probably outlived the rest of the machine. Apparently the machine number of cycles counter showed that it had only completed a usual amount of cycles for it's age so I would suggest to Miele that the shocks are a component that is not designed to last 20 years and should be redesigned for better longevity.
Your videos are brilliant. I wish I’d had seen this before I got rid of my mums 18 year Miele. The shocks had gone and seemed very expensive to replace. The water valve was also leaking. It was a fantastic washing machine but we decided against repair due to the high cost of the parts.
How bad was this on your back? What do you think about Miele Washing Machines in General? Love them (for longivity, possibly servicability) or hate them? (due to weight as I remember its almost double of normal washing machines, ~100KG)
Very professional explanation & video I was trained by a well known UK brand domestic appliance manufacturer some 30 years ago, let me tell you these Miele washing machines are absolutely top notch, they are basically a commercial build quality washer. Typical domestic machines suffer corrosion issues which cause the bearings & spider holding the drum to fail in as little as 5 years The buying question is really about cost, do you want to buy one Miele or 4 domestic washers
You don't need the power on to open the door, you can open it by pulling the yellow tab behind the little door that covers the pump drain on the front panel
I got to try and replace the belt on one of these bad boys. Mines just started squealing ramping up to full speed during a spin. Bearings and dampers etc all seem sound for a 17 year old machine 💪🏻
Our 2001 Novotronic W865 cost £550 back then and has survived 23 yrs in the back of a garage in Yorkshire and on average goes once or twice per day. In winter i connect the hot water to fill it and that cleans the inlet tubes. The Novotronic T490 tumble dryer is still going strong. I have only replaced the door seal, shocks and brushes but if it fails again its time for a new one. Only the 9kg Miele units have an outer SS drum. 7/8kg are plastic so beware.
My indesit is coming up 3 year old and needs this already seeing that these Mieles are lasting 20 years I know what I'm replacing it with already or a Bosch 👍
Miele wrote off my W5478 as the spider support in the drum was failing even though it could be replaced it was such a nice stainless steel machine and “rare” apparently and they wrote it off I wasn’t happy as I loved the look of it cost me a fortune at the time like 900 quid and they refused to fix it ☹️ But got LG turbowash360 and I loved my Miele but this fits more in it in 1 go ,drys , and clothes come out so clean even white socks if you don’t use the quick programs and cost a little less but will always miss my old Miele I know it’s just a machine but I loved the looks of it can’t find nothing like that anymore.
I wonder if those dampeners can be used on the Samsung washers...which uses plastic dampeners that wear and go bad after the first handful of uses. I keep saying that Bilstein has an entire market they are missing out on..if they were to make replacement shocks for washing machines, we'd buy them..and we'd be willing to spend $150-$200 for a complete set.
Are the Miele and Bosch appliances as good as they were years ago? I'd read that the Bosch appliance brand had been sold to a Spanish company and were no longer the same quality With Miele, I was going to get one to replace a Samsung washer, but I find it odd that they brag about their machines being tested for XX years use, but only come with a 1 or 2 year warranty.
Als u een Miele heeft, is de kans groot dat het Y-stuk verstopt is. Bij het centrifugeren bouwt de trommel een onderdruk op waardoor het water niet volledig wordt afgepompt.

One day your drum will fail... BUT TODAY IS NOT THAT DAY!!!
I like how easy you make things seem. Much better than replacing.

Just had this exact job done on my Miele Premier 300, good as new again 😊
Great video thx. I've recently de clogged my Miele rubber hoses after watching your video, easy removal of front and side panel. 👍

Would love a tool bag video or van tour. What common parts etc
Thank you, helped me to diagnose W1714. Dampers replaced and it's working as it should.
Thanks
Thanks for this, took me about 40 mins, great tutorial, many thanks
Can't beat a Miele for reliability. Replaced our old one after 22 years as the drum failed. Bought another one with a 10 year warranty
Hi many thanks for the video did you use genuine miele dampers and while i do the repair would it pay to do the four springs while it's apart.
How bad was this on your back?

Hi my Samsung eco bubble washing machines draw hose has come off I don’t know how to fix it can u help?
What about buying a used Miele, any tips, tricks or models and years that need to be avoided?
Nice videos, thanks. Make more please!
Just asking as an new miele owner. What does it mean exactly when drum fails?
My edition 111 w5872 ,,, how much the dampers cost for this?

How long have you been repairing home appliances for?

So well made.
