This was performed on the Japanese version of Super Mario World on an actual Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) with an actual controller.
I came back to this category because someone had beaten my world record. The previous world record was 17:46 and can be watched here: • Video
Overall, there is still room for improvement in this run. I died in Yoshi's Island 3 (again) and lost my feather in Donut Secret House, so I had to waste time to get another one. If I really push for this category, I believe I can get a sub-14 minute time.
As to what I use for input display, in order to have my controller inputs on stream, I use a device called the Munia. It sits in between my controller and the console, and connects to my computer. It's capable of handling SNES, N64 and GameCube controllers.

The world record category should be specified to the version of the game and input. Otherwise it's like comparing apples and oranges so to speak when looking at the times of others. However, you can only keep so many things constant and even little things can affect the speed of the gameplay such as how used a controller is in terms of the looseness of the buttons and how sticky then can be. Also the connections such as the cables can affect the speed of gameplay even in such small amounts that no one could notice in real time but over the long run make a difference. Some speedrun categories are so competitive that they are beat by less than half a second such as was the case this year with a Mario game originally for the NES. It was talked about on Pat the Nes Punk.

He has too much time on his hands and the basic concept in playing blindfolded is that by knowing the correlation between timing and audio he knows where he is, what he is doing, and what is going on around him. He knows the inner mechanics of the game to the point that it's as if he made the game or even better than that such as by knowing strategies that were not intended to be used.
