I've been trying to find a way to hide the ugly clips holding up the mirror, and came up with this easy DIY solution! This mirror is in my bathroom and holding up great against all the steam. Some notes if you decide to take on this project:
- If your corners have gaps, use wood filler to help hide it
- You can make a notch in the trim piece where the clips are to help it lie flatter
I didn't do any of this because I'm too lazy and don't care enough to. 🙂 The hubs and I are the only ones using this bathroom so no one else is really gonna see it anyways.
The mirror is 60x36in and is $55 from Lowe's. The frame only cost me $63. The total, with the mirror, comes out to $118 before tax. Any mirror of this size and style can cost at leaaaaaast $300. YIKES. So. Get your savings on, y'all.

That corner hack changed my life.
Beautiful job, I completely forgot about ornate moulding.
Holy hell I liked this! That paper trick with the 45 angle made my day!
That was an excellent tutorial, especially since you also mentioned how to achieve that vintage look (other tutorials that I've seen skipped this), so this video is just what I needed :) Thank you 🙏
You’re so welcome!! Hope your project turns out amazing! Thanks for watching 🤍
💯
I will forever keep this brilliant cheap idea in my diy knowledge
This looks just amazing!!. My project is a portrait I had done in Venice many years ago. Sadly the Frame broke its currently in a cheap boring frame from a Charity Shop. I couldn't afford a fancy frame to do it justice. Watching this has given me Inspiration as currently working on my Bedroom Makeover. Kind of Breakfast at Tiffany's based including a false window for sparkles lol. On a very low budget. I'm also now thinking of the Headboard on my bed too. What a difference these type of Moldings and a piece of plywood will make. Thank you so much lovely 😍
This turned out absolutely beautiful. Well done!!. Hope to give this a try. Thanks for sharing 👍
Looks gorgeous and gives such a high end look! Thank you for sharing!
You did an amaxing job! Thanks for the tutorial! Can't wait to try it!

Beautiful job and I love the pieces of embellishment you chose and how you arranged them. Really, really excellent.
If I could like 1000 times. Thanks so much. I hate my bath mirror. I’m so changing it!! ❤️❤️❤️
The black vintage part is soooo good!!
Im trying to hide my tv in my room, so I’m looking to make it look like a mirror. Which means I’m going to have to make my own frame for it, love this idea to make it look like a beautiful ornate mirror and hopefully more realistic
Erica, this is amazing. Thanks for sharing!!!
Just beautiful 🤗 I have the mirror already I can’t wait to do this 👍🏻
Thank You so much! 👏🏻 Great Job👌🏻

Excellent job, My Friend.
OHHH MY GAAWWWD I've been looking for a large ornate mirror for so long but I'm broke and they're so expensive!!! thank you a ton for helping me (: love da video girlie pop ahhh this just made my whole day.
Jennifer Higuera ahhh omg thank you love! I hope it worked out for you!!
This has been on my mind all week. I want one for my salon but I can't find the perfect one that isn't a million dollars.
So I thought I will make one. Goggle all week. Couldn't find any help. Not even Pinteist.
Why I didn't think to come here first. I did finally find the application on Amazon. I get lost looking at them for hours. Thank you so much. Super helpful.
That’s why I’ve been looking for a video like this for so long. Those large ornate ones are ridiculously expensive!
I just bought the pieces that at need I’m going to do it for my vanity mirror 🪞 can’t wait thanks
Beautiful!
Exactly the video I was looking for....almost. I'm wanting to do something like this to my medicine cabinet mirror, but couldn't figure out where to get the ornate pieces. Thank you so much. Now I remember walking by those little ornate trim pieces at Home Depot. Your mirror turned out so nice. Crossing my fingers it works pretty much the same for a medicine cabinet mirror. That will save me a nice chunk of change on my bathroom remodel.
Thats really beautiful 😍
Thank you for this tutorial!! 😍😍
great video, best ive seen. thank u sooo much!
you did such a good job !!
brilliant, Erica
Beautiful.
Fab job!!
very clean
Beautiful
Such an amazing video and very helpful! Can tell that you are very artistic and talented :) Going to try this project at home myself
I'm going to use this video to help with a similar project! Thanks! Another way to do the aging of the gold is to simply use black oil paint and wipe off as much as you can leaving the crevices and finish appearing aged...old hollywood prop trick!
Turned out great! Been wanting to do this for 2yrs now. My bathrm is silver/black though. I'm torn! lol Great idea w the paper for getting a good angle

Happy Girl thank you so much!
This is gorgeous! Anyone know where to find the antique gold used or a good alternative?
great job!
I've been eyeing the anthropologie mirror. Now I think I can make something that will look similar, Thanks to you :)
sunnyladyof3 yesssss!! Save you some money girl!
MEGA WOW!!!!!
@Erica did you remove the mirror clips from the wall?
Beautiful do you think it can be done with a tv? If so will it also be removable?
more videos like this pls.
great
Beautiful 👌 make more videos please 🙏
How did you glue the boarder with the mirror clips?
How did u get the trim to stick to the mirror clips. That’s the part I wanna see
She forgot to record bro, lol.
Here is how Erica answered the same question in comments below--
"I just hot glued the moulding over the clips! This will leave a small gap between the mirror and the moulding but it’s not too noticeable! I tried to make a notch in the moulding where the clips were to help it lay flatter, but it ended up being way too much work and didn’t look that great anyways. And the mirror is secured with the clips and tons of strong double-sided mirror tapes!"
I saw someone do something similar to this but with just plain trim and they used liquid nail to attach the trim to the mirror , and it looked great. :)
Pardon me while I come into the mix 2 years later, but you can remove the clips and replace with a screw and plastic washer to get a lower profile while still holding the mirror in place. The plastic washer will prevent mirror cracking when you screw into the wall and the washer and head of screw will pin the mirror in place.
@@DutchyDutcherson How do you put a screw through a mirror?
How well is the hot glue going to hold up to things like shower steam?
Hi.just has e a question. What. Color did you put over the gold? By the way I love how your mirror turned out.🙂👍I am about to start on my mirror. Thank you for sharing.
I am just curious what you did with the clips ?? When you glue the wood frame don’t you think its uneven ?? Because you hadn’t remove the clips..
Btw its look amazing ..
i have the same kind of mirror in my washroom and i would love to do that the same thing you do .. but plz reply to my question about the clips .. so i can figure it out
I loveeeeet
Where did you get your ornate molding from??
What did you do about the clips?
Gosh it's gorgeous how much did.you spend to make it?
Those were some serious toes !😳
How did you glue the trim moulding over the mirror clips? Or did you remove the clips? If so, how did you secure the mirror to the wall?
STN1218 I just hot glued the moulding over the clips! This will leave a small gap between the mirror and the moulding but it’s not too noticeable! I tried to make a notch in the moulding where the clips were to help it lay flatter, but it ended up being way too much work and didn’t look that great anyways. FYI...According to Plaid rep Treasure Gold Antique Gold 2 oz (Inventory # 3082) is no longer available and could not recommend a substitute. I tried Gold OR 4 oz (Inventory # 5535) on a test piece painted with Rust-Oleum American Accents - Metallic Gold 327909 and could not see any appreciable color difference. Will try Majestic Gold (Inventory # 5540) at a later date/time.
where is your rug from?!
I really want the Arhaus mirror 😭 but I could maybe do this 😶
Can I replace the antique gold with bronze? The only antique gold I can find is the spray one
Qila I would think so! I actually that will give even more dimension and can look really cool, I would just blend a little more with the paper towel
@@jonicahome i love that antique gold colour that you use but i can't seem to find any in my country. Guess I have to play around with colours then 😂
Thank you so much for this video, really helpful! I'm going to do this for my mirror ❤️
What was the spray paint and antique gold paint that tin used?
Hi! Sorry for the late reply! The paints I used are up in the description, I would copy it on here for you but idk if it’ll make it a hyperlink lol
Were they all 39.00 or each piece 39.00?
😊❤👍
I have a hard time believing your 45 degree pieces fit so perfectly without some additional steps, and I dont care if you're Tim the tool-man fukking Taylor it aint coming out flush like that. Nevertheless, the end result was great 😃
Watch out you interior decorating you tubers she’s coming for you
Could have used a good two way tape. NO NEED TO RUSH..
Next time find a better gold paint. And resin would be a more stable glue than hot glue gun. Nice idea.
Absolutely stunning Babe please let me know what you use to edit and write at the end of the video? Pls! Excited to get watch more joyfully Subscribed🤗🤍👏
Beautiful!
tecx37 thank you so much!
