I don't think it's ever a question of which sounds better, but of which you personally prefer. Obviously they originally planned it for him, so it sounded great; then they had to rearrange it, so it also sounds great, but without him. I don't think we need to fight about it. For me personally, I think his voice is beautiful, but I don't have an emotional connection I have to the other members. Therefore, I like hearing more of those voices that I know as Stray Kids, instead of That Guy Who Was There Once Apparently. (Ngl, I'm especially happy to hear more vocal opportunities for my boy, Mr Could Be Main Vocal As Well As Main Everything Else Han Jisung, who does them stunningly). But, if you actually stanned them throughout, or fell in love with these songs - and the group - as they originally were, of course you'll love the original versions, and OT8 ones will feel off and/or lacking something to you. And, naturally, you might simply prefer the way a specific member did a specific line for no reason other than you just like it. Do Stray Kids need Woojin to absolutely slay in every way? Of course they don't. Did they lose a quality of value when they lost Woojin? Of course they did. OT9 is a different group than OT8. But him leaving wasn't the only thing that has changed and, arguably, not even the biggest change (which I would say is how they grew up and continue to grow as people and artists).
Actually one part is wrong. In Voices 5:43 - Chan confirmed (Chans Room Ep 37) ((before Woojin departure)) that leeknow is the one singing the high note of "Ah" in his falsetto voice

Since they debuted with 9 members, I think it's unnecessary to re-record their debut songs just to cut out the parts of someone who fought as hard as they did to debut in the group.
i personally don’t think his voice fit well with the other members. his voice is very mature and he knows exactly where to place his voice unlike the other members who’s technique wasn’t as advanced and they still have their boyish tone so they sound so much younger. it’s no insult to woojin but i do think maybe skz held him back as a vocalist and in turn he sounds out of play in some songs, he’s a very safe vocalist too which doesn’t rlly fit skz style

FINALLY a video that said it’s Changbin doing the first part!!! 11:43 I’ve always heard him but people said “listen to the second part, it’s definitely Han” yes the SECOND part is Han but the FIRST it’s Changbin!
I don't even think the second part is Han, I think that entire bit is sung by Changbin. He can sometimes sound a bit similar to Han, and also the very next section starts off with Han so it doesn't really make sense to break up the lines so much and have Han both end one section and start the next. I will die on this hill, it's completely Changbin and he sounds so wonderful.
@@rosethorn0232 nah the 2nd bit is definitely Han, however i can hear a bit of Han in the 1st bit aswell actually but im still leaning more towards Changbin singing the 1st part
Yes they don’t exist but for those who like Woojin singing with the other 8 then for those songs it’s OT9 if others like the re recorded songs without Woojin then yes it’s OT8. I prefer hearing the OT9 versions of these songs just as others prefer the OT8 versions. 😊
Sorry if this is 5 whole months late but i do agree with Katie Edsall Reamy here. I prefer the OT9 versions than the OT8 versions but i will still support OT8 and Woojin also i used to hate Woojin but now i like him and miss him 😢
That was really helpful for a babySTAY, thanks a lot! Also, love the end SKZoo scribble! I've been watching that Maniac Relay on loop 8 times just this morning to catch each member's background goofy stuff 😂 And that moment you paused on is for sure the climax of the song ❤❤
Both versions are great! I started being STAY 1 year ago or so since I didn't have the chance to see a comeback with Woojin. I hope Woojin is happy being a soloist. Seungmin and Woojin's voices are quite similar (in my opinion). I LOVE HAN'S VOICE
Well I'm a 2 months old babySTAY, so more used to OT8 versions. I've heard some of the OT9 vs OT8, Miroh being my fav SKZ song "ever"... until yesterday! (I don't like OT8 more or less than OT9 for Miroh, both versions make me vibe) Yesterday I discovered Chronosaurus, and my bias being Bang Chan because of his voice, I fell madly in love with this song, especially the bridge part of course. I first heard an OT8 live fanmeeting version that was a mess, so I went to check a clean one and could only find OT9. Well, I think Woojin's tone works wonders in this part of the song, with the 3 voice harmonization, it's really beautiful. Just my 2 cent as a non-Woojin-fan-because-I-fell-in-love-with-SKZ-in-OT8-form. (NB: I don't dislike or hate WJ at all, I just don't know him as well.as the other members, and am not emotionally attached to him).
I think the members now sound more the same if you know what i mean. Woojin sang a little higher and I think the voices now come better together. But I miss woojin in mirror because that song fits his high vocals, but that's the only song I listen to where they were ot9. All the others songs that where he was became ot8 in my playlist.
In my opinion. Both versions sound amazing. I am addicted to their voices. The only thing sad is the reason behind the second OT8 version. Even as a 2022 Stay, I miss OT9. But, I am happy with OT8 and Woojin as a soloist.
i do need to establish tho, i see some people in this comment section say they are ot9.. but how can you be ot9 when woojin is no longer a member? you are a cub and ot8. ot9 no longer exists. support woobear all you want but he isnt a member anymore so you arent ot9.
Your comment makes no sense, some EXO-Ls are still OT12 even though there's currently 8 members active and one of the members that left is in jail. There are still OT9 SONEs even though Jessica performing with SNSD is basically impossible. There are still fans of 5HINEE even though Jonghyun is no longer with us. FFS there are BIGBANG OT5 fans even though Seungri is in fucking jail. I get your point that we should support them separately by now but that doesn't mean that the fans who were there from the beginning and liked SKZ as 9 should just fuck off because Woojin is no longer with SKZ.
@@gtblade2806 thats different? those group members still assosiate with each other in contrast to skz who wanted to cut off all the ties to him. They even re-recorded their whole discography to put it in the past. Don’t compare the situation with a passing.

KW is an amazing vocalist but I think his vocal tone just never fully harmonized/complimented with SKZ’s genre. His voice often stood out like like a sore thumb? Not saying it’s a bad thing. I think his vocals def suite his current genre as a solo artist and I’m happy for him but I def prefer the re-recorded.
Some stays get offended when people say Woojin probably left because he felt left out and hated by their own fandom, but reading comments here saying "I never thought Woojin's voice suited skz" makes me sad... I bet these things were said even when he still was part of the group, I believe he wasn't fully appreciated. Anyway, Woojin shines best in his own music and Stray Kids are awesome as 8, I love stanning the group and the soloist 😊
It was definitely said while he was in the group, I remember writing a review for their debut and I mentioned it. He wasn't much appreciated because he does sounds the least energetic in every song - but it feels like it was a mixing issue? His live vocals can come out clearly but in songs it always felt like there was a barrier for his voice to travel through. And he always seemed to get parts a little out of his range, having to sing with his head voice when it didn't suit the part.
@@m11thebazile preferred him as a soloist TBH. It's not that he was outcast or fully appreciated but if he will debut in a JYP's boy groups, his voice will suited Day6 because his charm was more softer & his voice sounded more laid-back as supposed to SKZ's more darker & stronger type of music. He was not meant to be long as SKZ's member (Due to their very, very different styles)...

The Hellevator one bugs me, both lines were sang but Han in the recording but in the performance its Woojin who sings the high note. Did they do the recording without woojin in the predebut??

It absolutely doesn't take away anything from what they do. Praising one isn't to the detriment of another. People here will be biased, as they may directly say that the SKZ 2020 sounds better just because they are still influenced by the drama surrounding Woojin's departure. woojin 's voice colour is really unique and i prefer the old versions! However, as someone who attended two SKZ concerts and a Woojin concer, I believe Woojin truly deserved more lines when he was in SKZ, especially when it comes to singing live without relying on pre-recorded tracks. same goes for Han, remains stable in both rapping and singing live even while dancing. His live performances sound almost identical to the recorded tracks, which is incredible.

In Boxer Woojin sings the same lines that Seungmin and I.N sing, I love they both sing those lines in both pre-choruses
@@rosethorn0232no That's Definetly Han
@@rosethorn0232 nah the 2nd bit is definitely Han, however i can hear a bit of Han in the 1st bit aswell actually but im still leaning more towards Changbin singing the 1st part

Well I'm a 2 months old babySTAY, so more used to OT8 versions.
I've heard some of the OT9 vs OT8, Miroh being my fav SKZ song "ever"... until yesterday! (I don't like OT8 more or less than OT9 for Miroh, both versions make me vibe)
Yesterday I discovered Chronosaurus, and my bias being Bang Chan because of his voice, I fell madly in love with this song, especially the bridge part of course.
Really enjoyed his voice in Chronosaurus 😊
rip to glow and spread my wings 💔
I think the members now sound more the same if you know what i mean. Woojin sang a little higher and I think the voices now come better together. But I miss woojin in mirror because that song fits his high vocals, but that's the only song I listen to where they were ot9. All the others songs that where he was became ot8 in my playlist.
I love the OT8 but at the same time miss the OT9🥲🥲🥲😭😭😭
In my opinion. Both versions sound amazing. I am addicted to their voices. The only thing sad is the reason behind the second OT8 version. Even as a 2022 Stay, I miss OT9. But, I am happy with OT8 and Woojin as a soloist.
Stray Kids OT8
13:48 one of my favorite Woojin's part
i do need to establish tho, i see some people in this comment section say they are ot9.. but how can you be ot9 when woojin is no longer a member? you are a cub and ot8. ot9 no longer exists. support woobear all you want but he isnt a member anymore so you arent ot9.
I get your point that we should support them separately by now but that doesn't mean that the fans who were there from the beginning and liked SKZ as 9 should just fuck off because Woojin is no longer with SKZ.

you’re right. i’m sorry i missed that.
That's the composers fault
i can still hear woojin's voice in every song :)
Idk but I find woojin's voice as like a microphone being submerged in the water.
That would be the producer and sound mixers fault

I don't think his voice really suits the kind of songs they make or even made but that's just a personal opinion.
I hate that people discredit his vocals, he was amazing, I think the boys did great doing his parts, overall incredible, whatever their path was I’m supporting them as well as WJ, they are successful on their own and that’s what matters, stop being haters and calling him talentless.. because never was he that.
Even though I didn’t knew straykids when they were 9 I still loves Woojin’s voice and seeing people saying that Woojin’s voice never suit skz make me sad, his voice is really unique but I really think he suited skz, even for me it’s kinda hard to not listen to the ot8 version bc it’s like something is missing when he don’t sing. Anyway Stan skz and wj as a soloist

The Hellevator one bugs me, both lines were sang but Han in the recording but in the performance its Woojin who sings the high note. Did they do the recording without woojin in the predebut??
Probably 3racha recorded all the song as a sample before doing line distribution and everything

I think we need to give credit to Chan for having to go back and rework all those songs and getting them redone and they still sound good. I know it was a lot of work but it came out great. Chan really is the hardest working leader in K pop lol
Why discredit the other 2 producers? Han and Changbin? And the rest of the members?
@@Nat_0218I didn't discredit them but I know he does a lot of the actual arrangements. They all had to work hard for it of course. Praise of one isn't discredit to anyone else. If that were the case then everyone is discredited for everything.
@kitabootforever yes it does, because how do you know who does what? Why are you giving only one the credit for all 3 of their work?
Your example doesn't make sense because everyone else in the world wasn't involved in making the songs.
It absolutely doesn't take away anything from what they do. Praising one isn't to the detriment of another. I simply stated my opinion and also I see the credits on the songs and look under arrangements and most songs say Bang Christopher Chan in that specific area. I like looking at the credits on Amazon music. They also have other people's names there but I didn't list them either. I just know going off what they say in interviews, Chan's Room, other lives and looking at the credits. Have a good day. I won't be responding again, respectfully.
@@kitabootforever It absolutely does when you presented as if he did everything himself. Trying to give him all of the credit for all of their work is discrediting. Erasing their contribution by acting as if his contribution is somehow more respectable or bigger.
Chan akgeas always do this. Solo stans.
His live performances sound almost identical to the recorded tracks, which is incredible.

we don’t know for sure. but one of the members left the group and so they re recorded them to have other members replace his lines.
we know in other kpop groups people never do this so some people wonder if there’s another reason. but the official statement is that he left due to personal reasons.

I remember watching the gone away teams howl in harmony where IN mentioned he thinks he's worked hard to have a voice that fits the team and I didnt really get the concept/hadnt really thought about how much of an issue groups might have with this, but it completely fits the way I feel about Woojins voice in their older songs. It has nothing to do with his talent or how good he sounds I dont think anyone can say anything negative about this at all, his voice just doesnt fit. The energy he puts into his words, the feelings they protray feel really lacking compared all the other members, it just feels like theyre at completely different levels. its so noticeable especially when Han Seungmin or Chan takeover his parts.
