The privileged students who are taught to hate themselves in some American places, like to broadcast how “horrible” American school lunch is solely for views and reactions. Not sure about her school. In my school district in California, school food was paid, but if your family income was below a certain threshold, you qualified for free/reduced fare lunch. A couple of years ago, I believe all public schools in California serve free food. Its not particularly good or healthy, but it is free.
