It was great to watch you two zero in Bend. Both of you still look strong and energetic. Keep it up! You guys have become my favorite 2024 PCT hikers.

Omigosh, I've been to Dee Wright Observatory a million times. And as a huge LOTR fan, it totally cracked me up to hear you calling it the great watchtower of Amon Sul here and especially on day 120, lol! I found your channel a bit over a week ago and it's so cool to see you guys hiking my home turf (native Oregonian - used to backpack a ton in the Cascades and also section hiked PCT through all of Oregon). I enjoy you guys' vibe and I plan to watch your whole trip from day 1. Best wishes on your journey! (And yes, K is silent in "Belknap" 🙂 )

The beauty in the black lava rock, new green growth, and dead trees make for some beautiful scenery. Hike~~On~~>

I didn’t realize you lived near/in Chattanooga! Love that town and surrounding area. I live in N. GA.

Once back in TN, does Birdcall have a studio where folks can visit, view, & purchase his art? I know that there is a website, but I occasionally pass thru there on my way from my home in LA to visit family in VA. It would be cool to see the art displayed in person.

Yes, absolutely! We typically do an art show every weekend so there’s always an opportunity to view the artwork.
The next time You’re passing through on a weekend, send us an email and we can tell you where we are going to be.
Unfortunately, we do not have our other studio open at this time until we get settled back from the trail!

Lava fields: can you imagine the noise when those formations were made? Be safe, you’re still looking for some fires.😏

Wow, the lava field is the definition of wasteland. And apparently lava is excellent for weed control, cause not even weeds can grow there. It's otherworldly.

How do you keep critters out of your food bag?

Honestly, the best way is to just try to keep our food storage as clean as possible. We use several Ziploc‘s sometimes even double Ziploc for particularly smelly foods. The food bag we use is also waterproof and slightly smell proof. Mostly it’s all about the scent proof Ziploc. Also, we do not cook in our pot so the only thing that smells is our cups, which have lids and also get put in to smell proof Ziploc.

Do you back up your writing? I'm assuming you do in case your phone dies.

Yes, I use the Notes app on my iPhone, and my iPhone is backed up to the cloud. Every time I got service I make sure to back it up.
