Larry finished college for his mom - not basketball. He was the first person in his family to have the opportunity to go to college, and he promised his mom he would graduate. He finished college for his mom - it just shows how much he wanted to make his mom proud of him. I respect him so much of caring for his Mom and her dreams for her son, over his love of basketball and his ability to earn more money in a week than his family earned in a year. I love that he cared for his Mom's dreams of his education for him more than his dreams for himself in basketball. He cared about his Mom before himself. ❤

The entire NBA was tough back then. I remember walking through the airport and Sir Charles and the Suns were playing a regular season game against the Denver Nuggets. The bar was packed and people were shouting and into it. The game really didn't mean anything, but the court play was vicious. Every team played 4 quarters in regular season. Everyone was gunning for Bird back in that day, and he still dominated. The players they call GOAT nowadays just don't know.

Nothing was mentioned about Bird having to spend eight hours in traction, more than once, in a hospital the night before a game just so he could play the next day. How many players in today's NBA, being paid tens of millions of dollars for one season, would play with any of those injuries - Bone Spurs, Broken Back and Ruptured Achilles Tendons? For 4 straight seasons from 84-88 over 300 games Bird averaged a 50/40/90 with just over 28 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists per game. That's a ridiculous statline over an unmatched stretch of games.
He got you 5 different ways. You double him and he still scores. You go around him and he gets you some other way. The most balanced player of all time
I sat with Bill Walton at the Raider game in the Coliseum in Los Angeles, he was cool. Unfortunately, we also sat with the biggest Bill Walton fan of all time. This guy saw every play that Walton had ever made. Bill decided that was enough, and he told him he came to watch the football game! *crickets*
And what did Lebron do his rookie yr???? How was his impact to the team compared to Bird? He had to leave to win with a super team….Bird as the only addition did this! With the same players that sucked the yr before…even Magic can’t say that because he came to a loaded team. Even Mj didn’t do what Bird did…..as a matter of fact, no one did. GOAT
In a interview Barkley said he is still pissed at the NBS for fining him for holding Bird back, he claims he was holding Bird back to break it up and to prevent Bird from Killing the Doctor. The problem was no one was hold Dr. J back in the other direction. Dr. J says "you call that a fight? Bird says "I was up 36 to 6"
The rule changes the NBA made to coddle "his airness" and make his greatness fit within the rules softened the game. It started then and has continued since. I liked hand checking and no palming personally. Also that 1981 series between the Sixers and Celtics was the best basketball I've been fortunate to see. The 86 team had the best ball movement but the intensity of those 81 teams was something else.

@47:00 Never truer words were spoken. You're absolutely right. No matter what work you are doing, you should be putting the effort in to help that company, team or business succeed and progress. I completely respect your attitude.
@@lokibrux thank you
Shaq only got 1 MVP, finished 2nd, 3rd and 4th twice each. Larry Legend finished in top 4 MVP voting 9 years in a row winning 3 and finishing 2nd 4 times. Anyone that ranks Shaq over Bird just doesn’t know basketball.
Kareem has the most MVP awards. 6
That Lakers cheerleader they kept showing is Paula Abdul
Birds ability to pass broke the ankles and caused the gap on defense with the Sixers "ETF DO I DO" LOL
"Larry Bird ain't white he's cream." LMFAO I was dying at work when I heard that. Best overall player ever imo. Yes there were better individual stat players but overall, Bird is the word.🤙🔥
One of the pros in his time called him clear 🤣
No one since Bird has won 3 straight league MVPs, not MJ, not Shaq, not Joker... No one
Ok You 2 Missed The Part When In The Video One Of The Sports Announcer's Said "Larry Is Still Playing With A Broken Left Thumb & Has a Wrap On Up".This Is In The College Game Between Magic.
It's that hustle for me. Those were the best years of the NBA.
As a Pistons fan I absolutely hated Bird but I also sure as hell respected him.
For 4 straight seasons from 84-88 over 300 games Bird averaged a 50/40/90 with just over 28 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists per game.
That's a ridiculous statline over an unmatched stretch of games.
When I played basketball 120% offense and defense everyday
"Take it to the park!"
Good shit.
My freshman year was Birds senior year. Indiana State is in the Missouri Vally Conference. A non-power 5 school.
Wow that’s crazy
they still went to work. Hell ya busted up no matter what. Love that
That wasn’t Moses Malone it was Daryl Dawkins!
Great video, you two do a good job hosting it.
Good on you!
He got you 5 different ways. You double him and he still scores. You go around him and he gets you some other way. The most balanced player of all time
Larry and Johnson became best friends. Johnson kept feeding bird on the all star team.
*crickets*
Agreed. You getting paid you give it everything you have. This young man in the white T has great parents
Sweeps Jordan's team.
Excellent doc!
Bird says "I was up 36 to 6"
Larry's rookie contract was for $650,000 a year ($3.25 mil over five years), a record for a rookie contract, 1980.
You guys crack me up ✌️
Casey Jones was the coach. He won 11 Championships with the Celtics. 8 as a player. The 3rd most in NBA history.
They just opened the Larry Bird Museum in Terre Haute, IN.
My favorite all-time basketball player is Larry Bird The Legend and it wasn't just about his game skills it was his loyalty his love for the game and of course the trash talking😅😅 I love you guys from Toronto😊😊😊 I'm not sure because I watch a lot of reactions if you ever done any reactions to either Nico Ali Walsh or Biagio Ali Walsh who I'm sure you know are Muhammad Ali's grandchildren Nico is a boxer and Biagio is a MMA upcoming Star both of them because they are young😊😊😊 I just watched a video you should check out it is Nico Ali Walsh the fastest hands it's about 15 minutes and it's showing highlights from all of his Pro fights😊😊😊
Old school basketball !!!! I miss the real game the way it used to be. I'm old so maybe I think everything was "better back then". But you have to admit-it was tougher! Really enjoyed your comments.
