Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
I’m on the fence about getting one of these. Your dogs look like their having a blast 😂
I don't understand why pinball manufacturers don't have multiple rule sets programmed into their machines and then allow each player to select what set they would like to use. What I would envision is you have a novice setting that has a simpler rule set, longer ball saves, easier multi-balls, generous extra balls, etc and then a normal setting and a tournament setting. When you start the game and before each players first ball is ejected into the shooter lane the player gets to choose which rule set they will use for their entire game. This approach would allow experienced players (eg. Dad) and novice players (eg. Mom and kids) to play together on the same machine and all would have a good time.
One of the nice things about 90's pinball machines was they typically allowed even the most novice of players to get a multi-ball. Building a whole separate machine to give simpler rules make no sense when there is no reason this couldn't be a programmed option in a full fledged machine.
I totally agree with you. Would be easy to do except for the time required to program both rulesets. I have an Apollo 13 and that is exactly what it does. At the beginning of each game you pick regular or novice. I guess I need to pick novice sometime to see the difference. Lol
Its definately am improvement over the previous Transformers, Marvels and Spiderman Home edition.
I love that they actually used metal ramps opposed to the cheap wobbly plastic ramps they used in the other home pins.
I imagine the cost cutting went into the tiny DMD screen, ans it appears it only has one speaker, lol.
But all in all, I do like this one.
Not a huge difference than the pro edition.
However, the only main issue I have is the price, considering for just a few hundred dollars more u can get the pro edition, but this home model actually has better ramps believe it or not. The pro edition has plastic ramps.
Another plus is the art work on it. I like that they chose mostly The Empire Strikes back artwork package.
If they can get the price down under 4, I'll be in the market for this.
Its 45 to purchase directly from Stern, but I've seen this on ebay for 41.
I agree. The metal ramps are a big improvement and makes the pro look cheap from a ramp standpoint.
Thoughts on the Jurassic park pin?
I would need to play it first, like you said....for me the jury is still out.
Yep, I hope to play one and see how it shoots. I may fine that I don't like it at all or it may be a fun game. I have heard several people say that the Spiderman Home edition is fun to shoot but very shallow rules. Just from the looks of this one, it seems like a step up from that but we will see how this one sorts out.
Did you get 1 ???
With the pandemic I never got the chance to see or play one so no, I do not have one. I have heard positive things about it and look forward to playing it sometime.
Have to disagree with you on this.
If you have $4000 earmarked for a pinball machine - you can get a lovingly restored 1990's era Williams for that price. Furthermore, if you are a Star Wars Super-fan; No price is too high to get the real deal Pro/LE/Premium Stern. I chalk this up to Stern looking at the popularity of 1Up Arcades and wanting to shoe-horn in on that market of collector.
Enthusiasts baulk at he "Zazzle" branded machines, this type of machine will be held to the same regard in years to come I think.
Despite disagreeing with you, great video as always Lonny!

Thanks for the comment and feedback. It is definitely an interesting dynamic. I agree with you on if the super fan wants something than price is not an issue. I just think that this pin is interesting because of the complexity of the “full featured” games and even though price is not an issue for those people, if they are not pinheads then the game might be too complicated for them to have a good time. Or maybe get frustrated with it before they finally understand it. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. Thanks for the positive feedback and see you on the next one. 👍🏻
