- This our Travel Review for Hangnaameedhoo local Island in the Maldives
Hangnaameedhoo island is located in South Ari Atoll/Alifu Dhaalu Atoll of Maldives. Traditionally the atoll was named as Ari Atoll and Hangnaameedhoo is the nearest (71 km) inhabited island of south Ari Atoll to capital Malé and Velana International Airport. Expect a staff member on arrival to meet you at the airport. He makes sure you get on the correct speed boat that they arrange when that time comes.
Speed boat transfer
The speedboat transfer from Male to Hangnaameedhoo Island normally takes 1hr 15mins and costs 30USD per person one way.
Male - Hangnaameedhoo at 16:00 ( Sunday to Saturday); Friday at 9:00; Thursday, Saturday & Sunday at 11:00;
Hangnaameedhoo - Male at 07:00 ( Sunday to Friday); Thursday, Saturday & Sunday at 10:40;
Upon request the guest house can arrange private speed boat transfer ( USD 750.00 one way, 10 passengers capacity) between Velana international airport (VIA) and Hangnaameedhoo and price will advise while confirming the booking.
Ferry Dhoni (Public Transportation)
Departure from Villigili Ferry Terminal in Male. Travel time is 4hr 45mins. Price is $5 one way
Male - Hangnaameedhoo at 09:00 Saturday, Monday and Wednesday
Hangnaameedhoo - Male at 09:00 Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday

I found that guest houses offers only breakfast. Is there any cafeterias or restaurants on the island, and what is the medium cheque there?
No, you didn't find right. Guesthouses at Hangnaamedhoo offer lunch and dinner as well (HB or FB). But anyway there are couple of restaurants (coffee places) and in some of them you can get meal for as low as 4-5$ (60-70 MVR)
Hi can you wear shorts in hangnemedhoo island
Yes, you can 🙂 And at tourist beach you can stay with swimming suit. It's not respectful to local people if you walk in swimming suit inside the island or in some transparent clothes too. But tank tops, shirts are fine.

You have to contact the guest house you are staying and they will provide all the up to date transfers information.
