I've seen them 15 times. One of those times was at Old Town School of Folk in Chicago. I saw Dave on the way in and mentioned to him that this was not their usual type of venue. It was my least favorite SCOTS show. It was very subdued. It was somewhat of a letdown but the evening was redeemed when we went to see the New Baum Turks right after that.

Rick Miller is one of my favorite guitar players. After hurricane Katrina I was living in a non-running motor-home but I had a Danelectro and a little practice amp and I learned almost all of Dirt Track Date with the extension cord going to the house, good memories.
(edit) bad memories, Biloxi was fucked...

I don’t know why SCOTS never really took off, such a talented group, awesome arrangement and songwriting, I’ve loved them for two decades

Too quirky. Same thing with The Cramps and Primus. They all got some success, but nothing too mainstream. And yes, all are incredibly talented.

I am 67 and just found SCOTS, heard this song on Spotify. I am a fan. I found John Prine in the late 70s, a lot of people never heard of him. He was a lyrical genius. Unfortunately he died in April 2020 at 72. But the music will live on.

    KINK WRAY
A real American creating American music. From NC, creating his first major song that was BANNED in NY and BOSTON...
LINK WRAY came out with "RUMBLE" back in 1958 !
Of Shawnee descent, a real American 😇

My wife and I saw the SCOTS on our first date back in Feb. 2000 at Tremont Music Hall in Charlotte. I'd seen them dozens of times across the Carolinas, but she never heard of them. I can't believe she agreed to go. How lucky for me. And we still don't miss a chance to see them when they came around.

The REAL Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is what YOU play, out of YOUR speakers. Not some museum somewhere run by a bunch of out-of-touch snobs telling you who matters to them and who doesn't meet their criteria.
I love this band, love the stories too. Mary's little vocal contributions to their songs add more fun. Woulda loved to have heard her perform Love-a-rama!
