If you are plowing on a slope with a single how steep can the slope be worked going both left or right safely? How steep a slope can a double work both left and right? Also are there any other considerations to make to safely work on a slope?
You need to be able to walk on it safely of course. Beyond that, probably what makes sense as far as having a "bed" on a slope. But the angle of the plow is certainly different, meaning going into the ground at a much different angle on a steeper slope. Thanks!
Hi WPOG84. Thanks for asking. Not really. As to plowing the ground I have not noticed any difference in depth with the swivel/double plow versus single version. If one needs complete control of direction soil is thrown go with swivel version, otherwise the single version works great. FYI, we sell far more single versions than swivel versions.
That is a 25LB suitcase style weight. Normally I would run 50lbs on it even with the heavier diesel engine. This of course depends upon tractor model and engine as well as end user size and strength. thanks!
If you want total control of direction soil is throw, get the swivel version. As you can see in the video I control the direction the soil is thrown with a lever. The single version always throws soil to the right. Most folks buy this to build mounded soil raised beds. Secondarily it is excellent at breaking new ground. At the most basic level the plow digs a furrow/trench so it can certainly be used as such. Although I have never personally used it to build swales, I think it could certainly do it. Taking scale into account is important though. I do have a particular customer in mind that uses it to direct flow of water around their acre or 2 growing spot. They have the single version. The swivel version does give you total control, but it is heavy and will require front bumper weights to make it easier to lift at end of the row. Its also about $600 more than the single version. Personally, my main growing spot is on a slope and for that I prefer the swivel version. However, I do use both types (single and swivel) on my growing spot. I hope that helps.
Hello What do you prefer? Diesel or Honda engine? What is more powerful? Do you feel the extra horsepower on the honda engines? The diesel yanmar engine only have 10 horsepower.
Hi. The engine gas versus diesel, does not matter so much related to amount of work you can do with the 2 wheel tractor. Either Honda gas or Kohler diesel will get the job done.
That is really personal preference, but the BCS 853 and or the BCS 749 are the 2 machines we sell the most of...both for rotary plowing and or doing other tasks. We also sell the Grillo brand tractor and I would recommend the Grillo G110 if considering the Grillo brand. All that being said, you could get some smaller models to rotary plow with, but the ones I mention above are the most "scalable" and easiest to work with. If one has the funds those would be the models to get, in my opinion. This is a high level discussion and there is more that could be factored in before making purchasing decision.

Is there any advantage to owning the single direction plow other than a lower price and lighter weight? Is it more capable in harder soil e.t.c.?

HI Richard ! How much weight do you have on the front grill?

Which rotary plow would you recommend for building swales, the single or swivel?

Thankyou yes that helps a lot!

I prefer the 11hp yanmar !! It's extra weight is useful for carrying heavy implements on the rear end , for added traction .
I want to see it cut a sidehill ..several passes to create an 4foot wide ATV trail across a hillside ..if it can do it ..I want to buy one

Is the 853 the best tractor for the rotary plow?
