One word YIKES 😬 Imagine supporting a streamer by joining their membership and sending them superchat messages (both of which cost money) and then they only interact with the moderators and a select few of the regular viewers and neglecting everyone else That's not very slayy of the streamer
glad that sonny reinforced this, even tho his fandom is probably one of the most chill fandoms in nijien. it's good to have rules & boundaries stated upfront.
About the moderators, I always thought Sonny's moderators is one of the best mods I've ever found. I won't mention any other streamer names, but sometimes their mods is a bit too much. But for me Sonny's mods really are such good and nice peoples, while they're quite active, they still maintain their professionalism. That's why I often chat with them and fellow Briskadets in Sonny's prechat, and yeah Sonny's prechat is the only prechat that I visited because like I said the moderators and the fans are so nice. Putting that aside, so happy that Sonny addressed the things that makes the stream more comfortable and thank you for the clip so it can reach to much more people!
I don't follow Sonny a lot but I'm glad i found this on my recommended. The mod situation really gave me weird feelings (no hate to any of the mods or livers) and it gave me even more weird feelings when most livers i've seen are silent about it, so I'm really happy to see that Sonny addressed it. Bonus points to him for going to manager-san too, I hope what he did will encourage other livers to take a similar step.
Things about the mods, I think Sonny’s mods are fine, like I found them better than many livers’ mods…so thank you the mods for doing such a good work and having nice personality towards the chat. Thank you for your patience XD. And ofc thank you Sonny for making things clear, Taichou is amazing as always!💛
There's definitely a fine line between 'the channel is theirs and they can do what they will with it' and 'we are viewrs and supporters so there's something we share for the channel'. Im just glad the boys aren't taking it too hard. I really hope they dont take it as a personal mistake. I agree that mods who are over-active can make stream feel like a IN space for those only. But at the end of the day, if you enjoy the liver you enjoy them.
Tbh I wish all of the niji en members would make it a rule that the mods should stay silent or comment from a different account but it’s their choice ultimately :/
OP linked a thread for context and apparently this is mostly an issue for nijiEN boys only, all the girls have silent mods (and Luca has 2 silent mods, and Shu+Ike self-mod). I think this makes sense because the girls are the earlier waves, so a lot of their original fans probably came from the JP branch who already have silent mods.
@@cindyluu8523 if a mod chat with their mod acc then it will divert the attention towards their comments instead of the stream because their comment is highlighted you know? idk if this makes sense lol
Thanks for the clip and subtitles! Sonny's a good egg, I really think he's so cool. Glad he's working towards finding a good balance for him, his content, and his community.
i don't really open chat when i watch their streams, but i never knew it's such big issue. i agree with all the points in the thread. i don't 100% blame the livers for directing their attention more to the mods, bc their names are highlighted and it's normal for our eyes to notice them easily. sometimes, the mods are also super overprotective over the livers (especially the boys, maybe it's BECAUSE they're guys) and it makes me so uncomfy.. i get that you were chosen to be a mod, but that doesn't mean you OWN them. you being a mod means doing what's best for the liver AND the chat. i personally see being a mod is like a job, and the liver is your higher up, so yea it's kinda weird for mods to be all friendly with them. especially because the livers have a really big platform and i'm sure they don't spend their free time hanging out with mods, they have more important things to do. well, this is the reason why i just focus on the liver and not the chat. i prefer being active in chat for small streamers because the community is much more comfy and welcoming, the mods there are actually close to the streamers AND the chat, so it doesn't feel weird when they also say things in chat (cause they're like our friend!!) whoops this turned out super long, sorry if it's kinda all over the place i suck at forming sentences, but thank you for clipping this!!!
tbh, I'm a little guilty for not hopping onto streams anymore. I do agree that there is a bit of a boundary issue with mods, but it's not really an abuse of power, I'd say, more like an over-eagerness? Which is great and perfectly understandable! But quite deterring nonetheless, The experience that I had was not even my own- I was just watching Sonny's chat and someone had sent four emoji's instead of the PREFERRED three and immediately got a warning. When you are overexcited, it is quiet easy to double tap and accidentally send four instead of three and tbh, it's best to respect the liver's wishes but Sonny's wording (although heavily sugar-coated) does imply it is OK to send more than 3, it is just *PREFERRED* . Sonny is not going to bleed to death if there is more than 3. Warnings that are seen by the mass should be directed to the mass, individual mistakes that could be accidents or purposeful trolls should be dealt with separately by blocking quietly and or moving on etc etc BUT OFC! this does not mean the mods are bad people, and this is not specifically directed to Sonny's mods, this is just one of many examples of my PERSONAL experience, although if you read the other comments here, other ppl have had a lot of positive experiences as well ^^
Apologies for that ^^ We don't chat anymore in our mod account during stream so I hope you won't get discouraged to hop into the chat again! See you soon :))
It’s so important to keep these livers comfortable and able to give us critiques so we know how to be better viewers! Make sure to always check the rules.
To the ones in comments here, based on a tweet thread (I think the vid maker posted a link in comments somewhere, also don't watch Uki myself so secondhand info), Uki's mods are basically fan-ing a bit too hard, to the point of making chat uncomfortable. As well as seemingly trying to hog the man's attention to the point of having stuff named after them in games and virtually no one else (from how it sounds). Apparently this is a fairly widespread issue held among his viewers. So Sonny's being proactive about trying to prevent any chat issues, including with his mods.
@@burnttoast26 this also the mods putting most of the chat on timeout for supposed "backseating" even when uki himself had asked for advice from the chat
So basically on a recent Minecraft stream of ukis people finally felt confident enough to speak out about the issues of the moderators. They were banning people for comments that didn’t go against rules, they were far too active in the chat, uki gave them special treatments such as naming things after them which also caused issues, and when people finally spoke up about it, they were worried because the mods have been abrasive and rude before to any criticism, besides a select few. The actions of the mods discouraged interaction between chat and uki and it caused people to avoid his live streams for fear of getting banned. Apparently uki is also the only one who’s addressed it, with the moderators except I believe one not acknowledging or apologizing for their actions and letting everything fall on to the streamer. Also, this was a rumor I heard I’m not sure if it’s true but allegedly the moderators were discouraging people from sending super hats because uki was tired, and were blatantly attempting to reduce his income due to some weird kind of possessiveness.
I don't usually interact with other fans or chat that much, I didn't know this was an issue but I'm glad it was addressed. Sonny seems really nice, it wasn't something directly for him, but still wanted to improve 🥺
He IS the law but he's still being so nice and caring about us & our thoughts. So just be a little more careful everyone no one would like to make taichou or the chat sad right?
