I mean, my old 2012 mackbook was easily upgrade-able. Changed the SSD, added memory. Them Tim Cook realized he could make more money by soldering parts in the mac that didn't need to be and now we are here.
Fun fact. I have heard that the official storage chip is cheaper than on the Apple Website. So if you could do soldering and bios modding. You can upgrade the hard drive.
0:50 “Mac users could only ever dream of” Meanwhile me, still using my 2012 15” Unibody MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM, 1GB VRAM, and a 4TB SSD, for under C$500 (with C$400 of that being the SSD alone)
As a proud owner of an M4 Mac mini I am so glad I went for the absolutely lowest storage available lmao, I got a 4TB SSD for all my data and a 8TB HDD for backups; no regrets.
@ I spent $500 total. So yeah it wasn’t particularly cheap, but im set for the next decade easily. Went with the a Samsung PCIe Gen 4 4TB NVME SSD and a Lacie 8TB drive set as part of a server hosted by the mini as a backup medium for my MacBook Pro, Air and 2 minis. Apple would have given me 2TB max for that amount of money.
@@sirhide-x5y If that was a reply to me, you can buy 3rd party modules for Mac mini M4 storage, but you'll need another macos device to restore OS after installing it.
Well looky here, this was a video I liked, but, this is to get around something that should already be in the device, is it really worth to solder the storage for a tiny bit faster speed near nobody on a Mac would notice? They would prefer having the ability to upgrade their storage, it’d keep their workspace cleaner, you make very quality videos my man, but I keep failing to understand what Apple does better than anyone else other than optimization and the polish of their software, and of course, the ARM chips that still no one has beat even the M1, they still need to really switch up their iPads, they got the m chips, but where’s the usability of its power? iPadOS is still largely iOS with a bit of multitask features that are a good bit janky, just as editing text is, some stuff is just sluggish with the way Apple wants things to work, and they lock the user out of making the most of their new device because they can’t be sure of its longevity, their uses might change, and with that change, their hardware must either become better or worse, and it’s not something Apple has offered since 2015, I’d like to really get why one can stay with Apple through all their downright bizarre decisions sometimes that really impacts the user experience from my perspective, sure, maybe it made the devices just that bit thinner and just that bit more better looking, but what will one do when it’s time to repair or upgrade their purchase?, they have to replace the whole device, or pay Apple crazy prices to fix their device, it’s a bit eh
Do they even offer that anymore? No, you shouldn't. There is a case for it when you don't want to pay the OEM's markup for memory and can upgrade later, but that's not an option on a MacBook anymore. You'll be kicking yourself later. 16 GB is the new minimum and 32 is now the comfortable, set for the next 5-10 years option.
how much storage does your phone/computer have?
I have 256 on my iPhone 16 Base and 1Tb on my M4 Pro MacBook Pro
8gb and 512gb on my windows laptop
My current iphone is 64, but upgrading to 128 gig iphone 15 soon
128 on iPhone 🤑🙏
256gb on my s23u and 4.5tb on my PC and 1.25tb on my laptop.

TIM HELLA DIDNT COOK
@RoadsterEdits Tim burnt the food
and they removed the ports
🙋I still have mine. I’d be pissed to be forced to buy a new MacBook when mine breaks down eventually

some people have done it and showed that yes
There are now options for upgrading the internal storage on the new Mac mini.
