Destroyah wasn't "equal" to burning godzilla if destroyah's weaknesses are exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures. Godzilla wasn't at the peak of his power yet when the 2 first fought. Once godzilla really started to get close to meltdown, destroyah couldn't handle it and tried to flee which resulted in his death. Even one of the characters literally say even destroyah is not match for godzilla once godzilla starts to gets closer to death aka stronger. Destroyah is only stronger than burning godzilla for a short period of time. Idw had godzilla fight destroyah without the burning form involved and he needed mothra's help as a bonus, thus showing destroyah was STILL stronger than godzilla in this universe
