I don’t think you caught it. In 96,000, they were talking about how someone won the lottery and in this song she says “what do I do with this winning ticket?” So Abuela is the one who won the lottery.
Fun fact: the melody when Abuela Claudia sings "it's hotter at home in La Víbora" was later used in Hamilton when Eliza sings "let me be a part of the narrative"
This song is great live and in an audience who hasn't seen the show, the audible gasp from them when we find out Abuela pulls the winning ticket is pure gold each time, only rivaled by their gasp when we find out she passed away in Act 2
I get that you are a musician and an expert in music production, and I do love you pointing out some very specific musical movements, arrangement choices and instrumentation. But...with Broadway, the lyrics are more important because as you know, they take the place of diaolgue. So, I would like it if you focused on the lyrics a bit more. Also, Caribbean Latin music generally has all these elements in it, so if you like it, you should listen to more... try Celia Cruz' Quimbara for example. #Legend

OMG I NEVER NOTICED THAT'S AMAZING
Omg you are totally right i was thinking why does it sound so familiar
Omg you're right. I knew it sounded exactly like Burn
Or “I’m erasing myself from the narrative”
You're the best. The original singer is gonna be the same character in the upcoming movie
Yo ya no puedo esperar para escucharla en la película ;-;

This incredible performance is by OLGA MERIDEZ who originated the role on Bway and is now in the film version. So talented

The rhythm and staccato is used in most bachata and salsa songs I’ve heard.
