Why were Old Fitz 13 Year VVS, JD10/12, and Bardstown Bourbon Co Discovery Series 12 not considered? You mentioned Old Fitz decanter series was the worst this year. Are you referring to the 10 Year spring release? Or VVS?

Agreed. A great salesman can sell bad whiskey once. A great distiller can sell good whiskey for a lifetime. Industry people who are more on the marketing side of things, like Minnick, put a greater emphasis on the importance of marketing, perhaps for job security. The whiskey industry is slowing in large part because of bad marketing/pricing and bloated marketing budgets. Whiskey became too popular and profitable too quickly, which allowed for people who do not actually care about whiskey into the industry.

Fred, id love to be able to blind taste like this brother. however, there are a couple things to note that could affect the taste of the whiskey as well. im sure u know this but whiskeys does start to taste a lil different as it work its way down the bottle. at every level of the bottle, depending on the time it sit in, the taste would alter a lil bit and different flavors become more prominant. secondly, i cant help but think all the water you were drinking. we all know as our bellys starts to fill up, our mind starts to think differently on what it like to taste. imo, if you are going to spit the spirit out, i also think you should spit most of the water out as well so your belly wont get to full. but once again, i love this list and wish i could have taste all of these in one setting:). ive done the GTS and Russells 13 & 15 side by side and for me personally, i like the GTS 2023 better because of how well rounded it is to my tasting.
I have never, will never gonna argue on RR15 . Best one so far in my 4 yr bourbon journey. switched from scotch to bourbon . never looking to go back to malt again.
He did awesome. He made a small mistake where he did the tasting on the 5 through 10 spots and lined them out in the exact order he wanted them ranking them one by one against each other. And then when he finished he got distracted and called them in the wrong order but still pulled the top 4 in the right order. It was weird and I’m sure he will realize.

Can you confirm the ecbp batch that was 15? Seems b524 in video @35:00 (proof 130.6) but your list says a124.

Redwood Empire's haystack needle from this year should have been in the top 5 at a minimum. One of the absolute best from 2024 imo.
