Flew on the A340 four times. great experience hope to fly soon again with it :)
Observations:
0:35 Yummy Margherita
0:54 Edelweiss a subsidiary of Swiss and part of Lufthansa Group
1:27 Yes never thought of the A340 as an A330 with A320 engines! Exactly. It's as if Airbus had too many A320 engines in inventory and decided to re-engine the A330 with four of them and call it an A340. A great aircraft nonetheless - I'd feel safer in any four engined aircraft.
2:04 'Minimal' aisle clearance. Great for emergency evacs.
3:29 Only the Swiss would provide a coat hanger with your seat number on it.
4:48 ITA livery stunningly vibrant
6:30 Usually PA announcements are either totally distorted, mumbled, or so loud you have to block your ears for fear of ear drum damage
7:30 Normal 30 second take off roll - Hairdryers (haha) working nicely but hard
7:50 Sweet resonance
10:00 Solid passenger load. This is mainly a charter/holiday airline
12:20 Watch those calories
13:47 (onwards) Stunning views and videography - Thanks for showing the entire landing/taxi sequence in real time
18:01 Why do the blocker doors remind me of the creatures in 'Alien'?
18:50 Such a grab bag fleet. Like a child in a lolly shop; 'can't decide so I'll have some of each'
20:20 Great visit - did you ask the crew if they knew what all the switches were for?
Amazing observations, thanks for sharing! Glad you enjoyed the ride 👨✈️
Some lovely videography on this video, great work! 👌🏻
Thank you so much Craig! I would highly appreciate if you could share what you particularly liked and what you didn't like, or perhaps what you want to see more of and what you want to see less of, when I film trip reports... Thanks once again!
Fantastic flight review.Amazing plane for such a short flight.I already miss the 3 and 4 engine masterpieces.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks so much for watching.
Can we leave out the DC10 from the 3-holer masterpiece category? Tristar Yes!
What a cool video! I live in Boston, MA and work about 4 miles from Logan Intl Airport along the takeoff route for runways 32/33. Sadly, most of the widebody quads takeoff in the very early AM so I rarely get to see them, but today around 4PM one of these beautiful birds flew over me trailing wingtip contrails and it was an absolute sight to behold! Even got a short (crap quality) video of it. Funny you mention the engine sounds because that was actually the first thing I noticed and made me look to the sky in the first place because it was so different from what I'm used to hearing. Matter of fact, that's how I ended up here because once I got home I immediately I started googling A340 takeoff videos lol. Thank you for sharing this, it was not only quite entertaining but I learned a few things too :)
How awesome, thanks for sharing! You cannot imagine my face when I first heard the engines roaring for takeoff. In fact, I made a separate video covering this departure!
Really awesome video mate!
Thanks for the visit!
*With 4-engined airliners becoming ever so rare, do you think we will see them again in the foreseeable future? Let me know!* 👇👇
Yes, Why not?🤔
Yes
I think so.
A380
I got a taste of what LGSK is like minus the blast when a united 753 took off from long beach when it was taxiing it was so loud and long and the takeoff was loud to
@The Oracle Wouldn't saya financial disaster. When it was young the fuel prices and generally the prices of any materials maintenence connected wasn't that high as in the last 5 years or so.
But yes these days the A380 is very expensive to operate, it's not coincidence that Emirates the only one (i think) that still operates them, but it is equipped with luxury suites so they can afford it.
The A380 is one of my favourite aircrafts and it wad ahead of its time. From an engineering perspective its really amazing just like the Concorde.
I agree with you at 6:52 about the engine sound. For me, the A340-300 is just a giant, 4 engine A320 CFM variant 🤣
So cool, right? 😍
Check out my A220 takeoff video and let my know what you think, speaking of engine sound 😂
Excellent video and thumbs up 👍
Thanks for watching, feel free to check out my trip reports in the 747-8!
Great video! And as far as the sounds go, I always have the feeling one of the blades inside the engines is defective. Thanks for sharing ;-)
Haha it is an interesting sound indeed, thanks for watching! Check out my trip report in the E290 for comparison, now that's a silent engine!
V good video
Thanks Ismail, please check out my other trip reports!
8:13 yes I love the sounds of cfm56s could listen to them all day
Check out my trip reports in Volotea's 717 and TUS' Fokker 70/100 (both are now historic aircraft) for the loudest engine noise I have ever heard!
@@greatflyer_aviation Will do !
Nice
Thanks!
Interesting that they do this short flight with an A340, but there seems to be a high demand
Very interesting! Would you fly on the A340 for this short flight?
Fun fact: the Airbus A340-300 and A340-200 all have the SAME engines as the Boeing 737-900ER, -900, -800, -700, -600, -500, -400, -300, and the Airbus A321, A320, A319, and A318
Incredible, isn’t it? Check out my other video in this A340!
Edelweissair, still a very good leisure airline product. I love the 340 but look forward to 2024/25 when new planes will join the fleet.Which one? Probably the 787-8 or 9...
Or perhaps Swiss might replace their 777s with something shinier and hand over their 777s to Edelweiss!
8:13 my coffee-machine makes more pleasant sounds… but quite similar… could you brew coffee in one of those engines? 😂
The cabin crew referred to the engines as hairdryers 😂
You could probably roast coffee in any engine if you don't mind a multi million dollar damages bill.
👍
A340 on a feeder flight?
Interesting, right? Only on the 13th and 15th of June this year. Check out my Frankfurt-Palma-Frankfurt trip reports in Lufthansa’s 747-8i!
@@greatflyer_aviation You caught a nice out of normal flight. I've found myself on a B747 for an hour domestic flight.
Power flight! 👍
Thanks! Check out my videos in the Fokker 70/100 and Boeing 717 for even louder sounds!
I love your videos, but i prefer the RUclips CC rather than in-video subtitle. Because most of the phones these days has a wider ratio so when i watch it in full screen i can't read the caption because it got cropped🥲
Thanks so much for watching! I specifically wanted the subtitles to be discrete... I tried on my iPhone, they are only cropped when I select "fit full screen", have you tried deselecting that? Will keep it in mind for the future, thanks for letting me know!
@@greatflyer_aviation Yeah that's what i mean. When i watch it in fit full screen (so i can use 100% of my screen) the subtitle got cropped, so i have to watch it in regular full screen (16:9) with the black bar at the sides. But that's not a big problem tho, other than that your videos are amazing!
@@greatflyer_aviation Really liked the subtitles, they added a lot. Try lifting them up a bit in the edit. What edit software do you use?
Am watching on a huge monitor so not an issue for viewers like me.
