    This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!

    Kevin, you’re such of distinguished gentleman, with my AMEX relationship of forty years I wouldn’t be so kind if they would have dare to refuse this type of frivolous charge. LH runs the show so nothing surprises me anymore of your trial & tribulations with this issue. Love the channel and your line of work, your reviews are a True Gem. Auf Wiedersehen, mein Freund!!😀

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Год назад +5

      The only fault in all this they I truly put on AMEX’s shoulders is that during my first two disputes, the agent that took my reports didn’t tell me that they are limited to an insane 256 characters when detailing the dispute. Which is where a lot of the frustration came from since my disputes were rejected primarily since the full story wasn’t attached. But anyway, it is what it is. Worse has happened and even worse will surely happen again 😂

    Thank you for not dissing my country by acknowledging that Lufthansa runs the show. As a Swiss (retired) travel agency owner I can tell you that there is nothing the airlines hate more than having to share the fee with us or an alternative ticketing system. Oh the hours of disputes I had. Moving on...glad Schiphol is getting their act together and flight-wise Edelweiss did good.
    You have my deepest respect and admiration for your persistence.

      Hi Rachel, do you know how to get hold of edelweiss from US, they won’t reply my emails and the phone number listed on their website is for local call only! As I mentioned earlier it’s the only airline without a 1-800 number! We booked our flight to Zurich through United Airlines and one of segments is operated by edelweiss, so far extremely disappointed!!!

    5:30 I think different Airlines operate for Swiss, as you said.
    For example, a flight I travel frequently is the Zurich to Brindisi route, on that flight its always a Swiss flight, although most of the time now its operated by Helvetic Airways. Same thing in 2014 on my way to London and back, it was a Swiss flight operated by Edelweiss Airlines.
    Other than that, this was a great video! You're very underrated

    I have been watching your videos for quite some time and comparing the more recent ones with the earlier ones it is worth noting that your confidence level including the way you present them has increased substantially. The only thing I don't understand is based on the quality level why you do not have a hundred thousand subscribers by now. Maybe a concentration of area would be helpful as opposed to the seemingly random nature of your travels. For example I am more interested in Southeast Asia then Europe or South America and so less likely to watch a hotel review there. Also... this particular video left me feeling frustrated and less wanting to travel at all given the attitude of the billings and refunds departments. Anyway... just some food for thought.

      Thanks very much, relatively speaking the channel is growing very fast. This month last year I had 500 subs haha. So quite happy with the growth. As for the different places, it’s two fold: 1. Personally I don’t want to just be an ASEAN centric channel (which was kinda the plan at first)… and 2. There’s no way to know how content from different areas will do or the audience that it will attract until you post it and see how it does. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    These short flights are not worth the business cost. I fly strategically between the classes depending on the length of the flight and if a day or overnight flight.

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Год назад

      I'd generally agree but the cost of these flights wasn't much more than economy (on a full service carrier), so it made sense in this case. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    Unfortunately for all airlines in the Lufthansa Group you have to fight for refunds. I had a similar experience with Lufthansa when an upgrade purchased was not refunded after the feeder flight was delayed. Finally AMEX assume the costs as a gesture of goodwill. Unfortunately, the Lufthansa Group has an 80 percent market share at Zurich Airport. They know how to use their market power.

    A lot of people had this issue with airlines when the big "C" hit. Overall, it was handled poorly by airlines giving vouchers with 12mth validity only to realise that 12 months in and the world was still shut down. People got stung with all sorts of rebooking fees that made the credit pointless, and overall, the customer lost significant amounts of money (lm referring to flights in and out of Australia) lm wondering if this is why AMEX was making things very difficult to recoup the lost money. 🤔. Anyway, l always enjoy your stories and am glad you got on the flight eventually 👍

    • @tfft
      @tfft  11 месяцев назад +1

      The problem on AMEX’s side which wasn’t explained to me until the third dispute is that, the agent that documents the dispute is limited to 256 characters to describe the situation! How on earth that is acceptable, I have no idea. So likely the first two disputes the agent didn’t or wasn’t able to make it clear that I had nothing to do with cancelling the ticket.

    lesson of the day: never book flights via resellers. always via the airline direct
    because if stuff goes wrong.. things will go much worse than they have to be and noone feels really responsible

    Schipol is terrible. Same for Frankfurt and Charles de Gaulle. One needs to buy flights directly from the airline to avoid the problem. Take Swiss to Small Claims Court. They will be forced to settle.

    lesson learned = never book from an OTA unless no alternative available, know the law to avoid BS and get ready for B plan in case of troubles

    • @tfft
      @tfft  Год назад +1

      At the time I booked the original ticket it was the only choice for that fare. Unfortunately though none of the the Euro laws regarding cancelled flights applied since technically there was no flight cancelled. SWISS claimed it was never ticketed to begin with. But yeah, lesson learned lol. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

    • @jasiupasa9356
      @jasiupasa9356 Год назад

      @@tfft The law or usual rule is that for any flight changes or disruptions before take off you must deal with OTA as airline cant change the ticket . If you paid for a service and OTA cant provide it , you must be reimbursed
      The fact that amex went on your side at the end is good , but its was a painful time wasting experience showing that we consumers need better protection and help to get the laws also applied to corporations in same manner

      In America, we refer to it as honesty. I’ve got over 50 trip reports on the channel and around 5 of them were negative experiences. If you’d prefer a diluted, sponsored or dishonest narration, there are surely many channels out there that may be a perfect fit for you. Hope you had a wonderful New Years.
