  • This is my first diy cyclone dust separator, built using the Thien Baffle concept.
A dust separator goes in between your shop vac and whatever tool is making dust, keeping the dust out of your vac (and its filter) and puts it into an easily dumpable bucket. This allows you to spend more time sucking (and making stuff) and less time cleaning!
This video is a montage of the complete build process, from start to finish. Its not meant to be a tutorial necessarily (there are plenty of good ones of those out there), rather an inspirational and supplemental expression of how I went about doing it. If you pay attention I'm sure you'll learn something useful!
I read a lot and watched a ton of videos and checked out Phil Thiens site (jpthien.com) before setting out to make my own, so that i could really understand how and why it works and what works well.
I didnt buy a single part for this build, (except for the one plastic vacuum adapter that i didn't use) everything i used i already had laying around the shop.
