Gary, I was always told not to use threading tape on a sump plug, because apparently it could partially detach / degrade inside the sump and get caught / dragged into the oil pickup.
What a load of nonsense, I am a 35 + year veteran, always used threading tape for extra sealing of sump plugs and never ever experienced this. @vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 thanks for answering my question. Would be good to have a lesson on different oil types. Their are too many types on the market with huge price differences.

Hi Gary thanks for your videos, i have a chev utility and i noticed everytime the car is cold when i start the engine, there us a dry noise coming from the top pully by the timing chain. Behind the pully there is an orange ring not sure whether its a seal. If i spray that orange ring with Q20 the noise goes awayfor a day or 2. Any advise that could assist me in permantly getting this resolved?

thanks so much for the video ❤and i have a question if you don't mind, i have the same bakkie and just the clutch pedal went down with little resistance and when i switch off the car and come to switch on again it's jumping 😳i will go to the mechanic in the morning but i just want to know what's that can be 😔i hope is not going to cost me much, thanks
If it is a hydraulic clutch it could be the slave or master cylinder that gave in, if a cable clutch, the cable either stretched or snapped. hi sir my chev utility bakkie is misfiring . i have taken it to service and they say that its the piston rings need to be replaced aswell as the cambelt and v belt . i have changed the spark plugs which are brand new . whats your advice , could it be the piston rings the reason its misfiring and using so much petrol ? and also to add on of my rockers ( the first one has broken ) and will also be replaced . any advice as to why its misfiring thank you
If one of the rockers is broken then the car will misfire, replace the rocker and do a compression test to check if the piston rings are ok, low compression means either rings are broken/worn or valves are not sealing cylinders.
Every 100 000kms or 5 years, if you are not sure when it was last replaced best to do so and record the date and mileage. Thanks for sharing the great video. I noticed you used 15w-40 instead of 5w-30 oil as per utility owners manual, I did not know you could do so.
It is an 8-valve engine and this spec oil will not have any long-term or negative effect on the engine.
