    Curtis, I appreciate that you mention that you like the stock shock. That means something coming from you since you aren't one to baby your KLR. Speaks volumes for the stock unit. But what the heck let's crank it up to "11" YSS BABY🤘

    I'm thinking about a YSS shock for my Versys X300. I look forward to your completed YSS suspension.

    Hey Curtis, over the ditch and looking to get my first KLR and really enjoying your content. Especially as I’m laid up with Covid. Thanks for all your effort. Look me up if you ever in Auckland. Cheers

    Put some blu tac in the socket so the bolt does not fall out.

    Good luck setting preload without removing that shock. To all would be DIYers no need to pull the seat to change the rear damper.

    That center stand looks a bit sketchy. How does the bike not fall to the side? 2023 KLR 650 owner here.

      It's stronger than it looks! Defs a little sketchy though

    You probably mentioned it earlier or in a different video, but why are you changing out the shock? I have a 2022 KLR adventure and I've put 2500 miles on it. Shock has been fine so far

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  2 года назад +1

      Hey mate, I actually haven't mentioned it. Honestly the shock is fine, but for some of the faster/harder riding I've been doing, it hasn't quite kept up. I was just going to do the front, but got a deal on both because of the channel. If I didn't have the channel I'd have just started with the front

      @@onthebackwheel Thanks for the response. I look forward to your front fork suspension install and overall opinion if the upgrades made any real difference and how it compared to your cogent upgrade on your gen 1. Thanks for the videos.

    Maybe stupid question, but does this give better height adjustment over stock? I have a 22 Adv, and I am a midget (5'5'' lol) and was wondering if this would help over installing 1" dogbones.

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  Год назад +1

      Not really, much the same. If anything it sits higher because it's a firmer spring

    why the 400 series and not the 300? any particular reason?

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  2 года назад +1

      It's bigger with a larger piston. I'm sure the 300 series is good, but for an extra 100, thought why not

    So if you are going on a trip and loading a lot of gear, or riding someone on the back. You will have to remove the shock to adjust the pre-load. And the origanal shock was fine, and easy to adjust pre-load. I don't see the point in this. I hope you got the shock for free. If I can't adjust shock without removing it. It's useless to me.

    • @onthebackwheel
      @onthebackwheel  2 года назад

      All good, if its not for you, its not for you. You can adjust it without removing it, its just not as easy as the stock shock, still doable though. The stock shock is ok but struggles with faster riding and bigger loads. If you're happy, save your cash

    Adjusting pre-load is usually easier from the back.
    BTW your chain looks too tight to me.
    This causes premature wear to the sprockets & bearings.

      3000. She's been a bit neglected with loan bikes and holidays unfortunately

      Though my average speed tends to be about 30km/h, not the 70 that a lot of people average
