Steam Trains Galore 3!

- All aboard! Come along for Steam Trains Galore Part 3! Once again, we will visit a variety of different steam railroads. Most of these are in the western United States, but you will also see one from the eastern part of the country. As with the first video in the series, a wide variety of steam trains are included in many different climates: everything from Dry desert and chaparral to deciduous forests. You will visit steam railroads in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Maryland. In a similar style the the original Steam Trains Galore, this video features no distracting captions and no narration, only the sounds of the trains and nature. At the end of the video, a full list of the railroads where this video was filmed is included.
Steam Trains Galore 3 is sure to put just as many smiles the faces of everyone as parts 1 and 2, so hop aboard for this exciting adventure!
As always, comments are encouraged and appreciated!

I'm a 24-year-old woman, and I think this is really really really cool. It's still as cool as it was 20 years ago.

MzZzLzZz K yeah I'm a 23 year old man and not even a train person. It's just like seeing these brings me back to the old west and thinking about what America was like in its younger days when these trains were built. The mystic of it.
I understand. I just turned 20 in may and still have a love for these fire breathing machines.

my autistic 10 year old grand daughter just loves these postings; she is glued about 2 feet from the screen and as usual, entranced; of course I love them myself; thanks to all involved...
Good times❤
great video. thank you very much. i worked 37 years for three railways. retired now. you focused on the engines, which is what I want. Beautifully done.
+Gregory Mahaits Well thank you very much for the comment. It is much appreciated. And congratulations on 37 years in. That's quite an achievement.

Thanks for the videos. My son is autistic and loves trains. We don't live far from the Strasburg RR in PA and he is quite happy to go to the station to see the train come in and go out. That is why we love your videos. You don't include the whole train passing but keep it fast paced with the engine and action. Thank you for providing these videos that he enjoys!

How does a video like this have over 1k dislikes?? Certainly nothing to do with the quality of the filming and editing. Excellent job here!

I grew up around the old steam engines. The round house was fun. My dad was an engineer on the old Missoura and Arkansas railway. known locally as M&A. when that disbanded he went to work on the KATY.

I think they need to keep a lot of these old trains around because if an EMP ever goes off, this is the only way to move anything by rail
Cecil Pearson I think the government has about 50 Steam trains tucked away in case one happens.

I had to stop for the night and comment about the great Western Maryland footage---though the whole video is the best I've seen! The low speed clanking of worn side rod brasses took me back 70 years to my home town, a village a few miles west of Milwaukee on the Milwaukee Road. The local peddlers, working an industrial siding that ended up just across the road from the lake that gave our village its name, backed cars into a sharp curve that aimed the siding at a right angle to the double-track main line. Flanges squealed and worn brasses clanked as the class K 2-6-2 Prairies and C-type Consols would shove cars intended for the four industries that shared the siding. I didn't think of it at the time, but as a model railroader for 65 years, I realize what a headache it must've been to shuffle the various cars to the industries. The oil company at the very end required tank cars, another required boxcars and an occasional gondola, and so forth. There must've been a passing siding nearby (there were several in the small yard to the east of us) so they could reshuffle the consist and get cars back where they'd been so they could be unloaded. And all the while, the sulfurous smell of bituminous coal drifted all over the neighborhood. The ins and outs of way freight switching was infinitely more interesting than the movement of the unit trains of today, not to mention the through freights that roared through town at the "slow" speed of 35 or 40 and the mighty _Hiawathas_ and local passenger trains that stopped at our beautiful brick depot by the lake. Thanks, I think I'm gonna spend this weekend absorbing all your "Galore" videos while wallowing in blissful nostalgia!

Love this video and the others!
No right person could dislike videos of steam engines. No opinion maybe.
Maybe they hate trains. I stayed overnight at a campground in Sandusky and hated the trains when they woke me up, but I like them when not trying to sleep. I'm a '90's kid, so I grew up with TTTE models. I also got some train books, Here Come Tootle, The Huffin Puff Express and 6 Thomas books based on Shining Time Station, one of my favorite shows as a young child.

This should have been called Steam Locomotives Galore 3. There's more to a train than the locomotive and the first three cars. Cabooses are an interesting part of early railroading, too.
At last Part 3 is here and well worth the wait too!
Interesting subjects combined with great camera angles and thoughtful composition make for a great presentation!

I was born 100 years too late. 1862 was probably quite a year for steam trains during the Civil War. Too bad the Grand Canyon steam train wasn't in service when my grandfather and I visited the canyon in 1978. We did get to ride the Silverton-Durango and take the cog train up Pike's Peak later in the trip.
