Finally!! A video where the park stepped in and helped! This should be done for every lion seen with an injury since they’re endangered. I’ve seen too many lion videos where a lion had an injury and the commentator gave dumb excuses, such as “not interfering with nature.” We finally see one where human-kindness was given!
The difference is this was caused by a human, therefore needed to be fixed by humans (yet they still allow things like lion bone trading that essentially encourages poaching). I know the vets in the area have also treated cubs with mange, and are currently injecting females in the Manyeleti with birth control because the lion population is exceeding the resources of the area. They intervened a few years back when distemper from local stray dogs affected some big cats too. But when an injury is caused by "nature", i.e. from another animal, or caused by the animals themselves through hunting, living, etc. I noticed Sabi Sands and Kruger tend to refrain from "human interference". Its interesting that in the Maissai Mara in Kenya they take quite a different - more "interventionalist" approach. Scarface who recently died had dozens of operations on his eye & face, and one of the five Black Rock Males recently was severely wounded by another male in a territorial battle, the vets there intervened and basically saved his life, suturing up a huge gaping lower abdominal wound. They consider lions to be critical to their tourism industry.
