  • Geneva Bible. The Bible that Changed the World.
Welcome to the Tennessee Bible Museum!
We are open Mon - Sat from 10:00am to 6:00pm.
In this video the curator Gene Albert talks about the Geneva Bible. The Geneva Bible is unique among all other Bibles. It was the first Bible to use chapters and numbered verses and became the most popular version of its time because of the extensive marginal notes.

I have an exact reprint of the original Geneva Bible, whose text is too difficult to read. So, it just adorns my bookshelf.

Also known as the “Breeches Bible," based on its unique translation of Genesis Chapter 3, Verse 7.

The Wycliffe English translation of the Roman Catholic Vulgate is actually the breeches bible. The Geneva is not unique in that way, the Geneva translators got it from Wycliffe.
Somehow it escaped the worlds notice that it was in the very first English version in the late 1300s.

Pretty ironic that "The Bible That Changed the World" was printed in Geneva, the city widely held to be the city that Jesus referred to in Revelation as the city in which Satan has his throne. And people criticize God for not having a sense of humor.

Yeah, there’s a TikTok video some lady trying to tell people to only read the Geneva Bible… thank you for your post. She was saying king James version and the actual king James wrote a demonology book. So hard to believe anything anymore I just know I have faith in God thank you, Lord.

@@rodneystanger1651 I have a printed copy (Patriot edition or something like that). Also the "Bible Gateway" phone app has a GNV on it.
Online is a copy it is in the ORGanization domain with geneva bible (all one word) as the address. I haven't checked how complete it is.
I use it as my main translation so I am pretty comfortable with it. GNV is of course the version that came across with the Puritans.

If I may offer some advice, Bibles should never be stored standing up. When you stand a Bible upright, you put stress on the top of the spine, causing it to tear from the from the block. These rare books should be laying flat, with spines facing out for viewers, while protecting the old spines from wear. Thanks for the quick look. I have a 1560 Geneva text. God's best to you all.

The bible is a book written by men who never even met the people they wrote about (many many years after). It is also heavily edited by a church that had a power and politics agenda, eliminating a number of chapters. In addition, there isn't just one Christian bible - there are at least three with different numbers of chapters. There exists no provable, fact-based evidence to support any of the supernatural (spiritual) events in it.
Thus, it is pure human belief - a human emotion and dependent on as many human thoughts as there are humans. To believe without factual evidence is like saying a court case should be determined by only hearsay or a feeling. It's hard to think God wouldn't hold humans to a standard that they hold themselves.

I have a challenge for you. You must be brave and have courage. Just ask, God if you are real, reveal yourself to me. If you sent your Son to die for my sins please reveal all truths to me. There was the word and the word was with God, then he sent his Son as the word that all may have salvation through him (maybe slightly paraphrased). God filled his prophets with his spirit to reveal the word to men. Salvation is not rules and regulations of any religion but is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ the Son of God. If Jesus was here he would embrace you and tell you that your loved and that he has a purpose for your life. Blessings

@@boondocks8002 I assume that you have already done what you challenge me to do (" Just ask, God if you are real, reveal yourself to me.").
So I say, inspire me and give me a detailed description of how, where and when God revealed himself to you. I think that's a simple request. See, if you fill in the blanks suitably then I'll know what to look for. Oh, and if you describe the encounter as a feeling or mental state I'll have to dismiss it. After all, mental patients do that all the time. Without the bible and without God.
