Thanks for everything, Kirby. This was so much fun!
The Elegant Oxford Love you Preston!
Never realized you were LDS, Preston! Cheers.
Kirby and Preston,
I am a veteran diagnosed with PTSD. I left the Army 7 years ago, I was angry and depressed all the time. I gave up taking care of myself. (I was really into shoe shinning as a teenager. ) A couples of months ago I ran into the Hangers Project and the Elegant Oxford, you guys have changed my outlook in life. I started to shine my shoes again. One of the old pairs of shoes which I inherited from father is looking so good and I am feeling much better. Thanks guys and blessings. Shinning shoes is so therapeutic!
thank you for your service
Thank you for your service!
God bless you and watch over you C. Keep doing whatever makes you happy.
"Own less but of a higher quality" 👌. I really like that thought 👍.
This is so nice to see. Just two guys who love the same thing connecting while sharing life experience. Whether it feels lile it or not they're both reaching into the lives of others, helping others to find their way in life
love shoe shine Sunday, so much to learn
I never imagined two people shining shoes and talk would be such a treat for eye & mind.
My shoe shining interest began with Kirby, and then later deviated to watching Preston and his unique tactic on dying and burnishing the toe plates. I’ve never seen anything like his technique. The best collaboration is Preston and Kirby working together. Now, the cherry on top would be Jim McFarland to join them🙋🏻♂️🇺🇸 👞
I could easily watch these two all day. Doing what they love and a beautiful job too.
Kirby got a full two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼. I really enjoyed this video and it was great to see The Elegant Oxford there. “Let your light so shine before men”.
What a wonderful human side to Kirby Allison. It was very generous of him to share viewers and tips.
“Looking after your shoes everyday is like looking after your life. The real result show themselves 10 years from now” I paraphrase but it’s so true, thank you gents.
Two guys, shining shoes, talking about life and shoes... this was great coming from the two guys that I learned how to shine shoes from. Funny, Preston talked about detailing cars. I really enjoyed that prior to shining shoes. Now, I have two things that will relax me. Plus, it's much more pleasant to shine shoes in the winter :)
What an honest back and forth between you two! A real learning opportunity for me, great stories about giving back spontaneously!
Two gentlemen that appreciate the good things in life, like a good pair of shoes. Thank you both Kirby and Preston for preserving a tradition that needs to make a comeback.
It was amazing to see the art from the pros in action and listen to your stories! Loved it.
Great dialogue. My shoe interest started with shining my father’s shoes. And great philosophy on life, Preston- taking care of things including friendships. And Kirby, yes I agree with surrounding yourself with items of quality! Thank you!
Let’s see: Two gentlemen, great conversation and a short course in philosophy and life. Very watchable.
I recently received my first Saphir products from the Hanger Project. I though I learned how to mirror shine with Kiwi back in Fort Benning, GA at bootcamp (C 3-47). Man was I wrong!
Thank you Kirby Allison for having Saphir products available and for this channel. Thank you Preston Soto for your tutorial how to do a proper mirror shine from your channel.
To everyone: Happy Veterans Day 2019!
Preston is committed. Uses his fingers with the cream to apply against the shoes. Love it!!
Whilst watching this lovely shoe shining session and enjoying the conversation, I just had to go and get my tan Barkers shoes and join you polishing whilst at home. With a cup of earl grey tea on hand
Thanks guys
I really enjoyed watching this video. What a treat. Beautiful shoes and a very nice shine. Thanks for sharing.
You guys have great chemistry. Preston has such an interesting story, and Kirby's interviewing is so easy going and natural that it sparks a great conversation.
These are fantastic collaborations.
One of the best shoe shine Sunday videos. Keep it up!!
UnboxingMania
It is probably twize as good as all the rest put togheter.
Looking both pair of shoes at the begining of the video they seem to me clean enough to such an extend that they don' t need to be cleaned.
Your work and pasion is really amazing. Congrats
Greetings from Spain.
Gentlemen, again...whether you realize it or not...you are creating an industry that didn’t exist before focused on quality, personal initiative and pride in one’s efforts and appearance. Bravo to you! Just because of you two, I have bought shoes, socks, brushes and plenty of Saphir products...with some stuff even sourced from The Hanger Project. Keep up the great work, great entertainment and great inspiration that makes so many so much better. You are moving the world one shoeshine at a time!
Great collaboration. I like how you mentioned other channels, maybe further videos including the processes of shoemaking with possible series of videos on your bespoke shoe design?
Preston mentioned not having enough memory on the SD card and the long editing time. Maybe some of the RUclipsrs here can advise him on make/model and software that can help him with this issue?
I really enjoyed watching you two talking about life and ... shoes ... and ... ... !
Shining my walnut strands while watching
Finally, a guest who can actually shine shoes.
roofchees9 You beat me to it! Was just about to say the same thing. It’s mind-boggling the number of guests on this segment who label themselves as authorities in menswear who look like 🦌 in headlights when asked to shine their shoes. Embarrassing!
Humbling stories, Great to see you both
Two of THE best guys on youtube!
🙌
👊🏻👍🏻
Allen Edmond is the Seiko of shoes.
Unbeliveble value for money.
hahaahahahaha
Na, rather the Oris of Shoes (not cheap, but even more value for money) 🤪
@@bjornnordstrom Oris is garbage.
Well not exactly a Seiko 5 that is kind of the IKEA of watches.
Wow, that was something. Terrific work, great conversation.
Gosh-really enjoyed getting to know both of you guys a bit better through your chatting while shining shoes. Really nice video. Cheers!
Both of you guys are AWESOME.
It was either football Sunday or the super bowl of shoes shine, here I’m 😁
This should probably be a monthly event 😃
Hi I’m Mark from England, hats off to The Elegant Oxford for all your shoe giveaways,
Mr. Kirby polishes the shoes I bought in Russia. Bravo :D
Thank you gentlemen for sharing your time, knowledge, passion and experience with us. Preston put it very well when he said many people - me included - enjoy seeing something old and neglected brought back to its former glory. After being inspired by the pair of you, I've purchased a couple of pairs of Cheaney shoes on eBay and have done just that. It's almost better than buying and caring for a brand new pair of good quality shoes. Well almost ... Ah money, why are you such a cruel mistress - never there when I need you?!
Wow, I wasn’t expecting the philosophical life lessons. Great stuff!!
Thanks for advice in using cordovan wax to highlight dark brown shoes. It added depth to my brogue Church shoes. You're the greatest ever, Preston.
Steven Trosiek it’s my pleasure, Steven. Keep up the good work!
"I had a friend in sales... a really high end sales person at IBM!" you know Kirby, just one nugget of why we love you - good figures.
Fine fellows! I watched the video while shining my dark brown brogues :-) No mirror shine - it's a less formal shoe...but then you all know that ;-)
Regards
Tony (UK)
Thanks for sharing your passion with us. I was polishing my double monk straps while watching this and I thought... might as well apply some Saphir Medaille D'or to my belt as the leather can do with some nourishing.
Excellent conversation.
My footwear have brand names like Tony Lama, Dan Post, and Justin. Being a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division Band means I am not satisfied with anything but spit shine. Thanks for some great hints. However, I wear elegant western boots as a result.
Preston’s moccasin came out shinier ✨
🥸
My 5th Avenue oxfords have a contrast slightly less than Preston's, and I achieved it by stripping the tops and sides behind the toe caps with Reno Mat, then only putting Renovateur on that part. Polishing the toe caps to a high shine and darkening them a little more, I know I can return them to their original color but I haven't tried dyes yet.
Great conversation. Thanks guys.
Kirby and Preston: "Making the right choices and taking care of yourself will lead you to the right place"
Me: watching shoe shine videos at 2:30 AM again.............
Excellent video gentlemen. Very humble.
Shining my shoes while watching this vid.
In the UK people turn there noses up at thrift / second hand / charity shops , but the stuff you can get is nearly new and in some it’s department stores getting rid of last season’s stock.
Hi Kirby and Preston, love this video man! I really enjoy havimg polished shoes as well. Especially when people recognise the effort. However, I made the inevitable mistake of walking my nice shoes in the rain. Now they’ve dried up they have dark stains from the wet leather. Is this repairable?
Great conversation on passion
It’s funny seeing that Kirby Allison is more eloquent than Preston Soto while speaking to a camera. Two different personalities united by one passion.
elequent
It’s eloquent. I prefer Preston. Kirby is a very dominating personality.
I think Preston is soft-spoken and shy, but equally eloquent. He is on someone else's show, and trying to avoid being rude, in my opinion.
You guys were awesome!
Enjoy watching all of it! 👍❤️
Hi Kirby, love your videos. I have a question to my predicament. I have always used Saphir products to maintain my leather shoes. I have a tin of dark brown Saphir wax which I did not use for a year since the initial usage. When I opened up the tin, the color has become a waxy clear yellow. Can it still be used? Will it harm the leathers? Will it damage the shoes? Does it still maintain its nourishing properties? Please advise. Thank you.
Can we please get Caleb on the live stream with Preston!
HELLO
For a pair of Allen Edmond’s burgundy Kenwood loafers, should I use Burgundy Saphir Pate De Luxe Shoe Polish and the Hermes Red Shoe Crème Saphir Medaille d'Or? Would you say this is a good combination?
Thank you
You guys are an inspiration!
THANKS!!
Been looking for a good pair of dress shoes but trying to find a pair in size 8 is not easy.
I wonder why 🤔.
Love Preston x
Saphir products are the titanium driver for shoe shines.
12:42 It's pure Kirby, We! "The Hanger Project" appears to be an opportunist to boost his sales "WE! got the high shine chamois" If Preston enjoys using cut up cotton t-shirts from Walmart or Acetone to remove factory sheen even an ice cube instead of your products it's incredibly humbling
they both have long sleeve white shirts. i see they like to live dangerously
How do I lessen or not get streaks that result after brushing and mirror shining?
Evenly apply your product. Lighter pressure when brushing. Buffing with a microfiber cloth. These steps have been tried and true for me.
Craigtheshoeshiner much appreciated Craig. I’ll give it a go.
I brush and condition the soles as well as the uppers. Is this part of your routine also? I have not seen the soles get much attention.
The playback speed is a literal life-hack that no one talks about
What about the overcoat you made a video about something like a month ago? Is it done yet? Will you show it to us?
Joe Hemrajani is coming to Dallas this week. We’ll be filming the final delivery!
@@kirbyallison This is a fantastic news, can't wait to see the final result
Yeah yout high high gloss is best but it sucks to it dries out and no tricks worj to bring it back
Don't forget the edge care...
Two titans collaborate
it's just a pity if he gets his jacket dirty during the cleaning process. Dry cleaning is guaranteed.
He looks like the bad guy from Hellboy
this is for Kirby, has anyone told u, u remind them of jude law.
He reminds me of Dwight Schrute from The Office. Especially when he wears glasses.
Dude it’s really weird for me. You wear so nice cloths, bespoke suits, best quality leather shoes but in entire video your haircut looks really bad. Please do something with that cause it helps with improve your image up to perfect.
M Mo - Please post pics of your haircut so I can tell you how bad it looks. Good grief! This is why I don't post RUclips videos. Random idiots criticizing the most ridiculous things. And often being wrong (as is the case here).
That’s mean. Why say that?
Tamara Spink just because Kirby’s Allison chanel is about how to be good looking classy man. Kirby is talking about bespoke suits, high quality cosmetics to take care of your leather shoes. So about ingredents of external appearance. And I just write down my opinion that his haircut makes anxious image. Maybe its mean, or maybe it’s just little advice.
William Coolidge There is no options to post pictures on RUclips and its sounds really frustrated that you claim in advice that my haircut is bad. BTW- it’s funny in some interpretations your post sounds like you roast yourself.
M Mo There is *literally* nothing wrong with his haircut!
