i love postgres. i was a sql server dba for 15 years and it took me no time at all to convert. postgres is insanely performant if you set it up right. partitioned tables, functions, views, persistant computed columns, index covering are awesome ways to reduce your CPU / IO load.
You didn't upgrade any packages. The terminal said 105 packages can be upgraded but you continued without sudo apt upgrade. The sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade commands are used for package management in Debian-based Linux distributions (like Ubuntu). They serve different purposes: sudo apt update: This command updates the package lists from the repositories. It essentially fetches the latest information about the packages, including the versions and dependencies. It does not install or upgrade any packages It will list packages and indicate which have newer versions available. sudo apt upgrade: This command actually upgrades the installed packages on your system to their latest available versions based on the updated package lists. It installs the newer versions of packages while keeping the existing dependencies intact.
