My reaction to Season 1 Episode 21 of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. #Frieren #FrierenReaction #AnimeReaction
There's two great moments of glory in the show so far, this episode being the second. The breaking of Serie's barrier is telling because she's the one who taught Flamme, who has left a few such great works to protects important places a thousand years ago. Frieren really did turn the world upside down.
A cool detail is that Richter uses "earth magic" to fight, and Richter is actually the name of the scale we use to measure an earthquake's intensity
Pretty sure all characters names are wordplay. Like stark means strong i think frieren means cold etc
Thx, I always wondered about the connection because Richter means "judge" in german. To be fair I'm not faced with earthquakes on a regular basis but living next to court so the scale's name is not the first coming to my mind.
nice infodrop :D
Her goal to arrive at "heaven" is the reason why they have to get a class certification so it is still relevant this is just another side quests.
Denken: "No mana? Drop the 'a'... Man up"
this is one of the very few times when someone understood that Serie stands on a different dimension than anyone else. For some reason a lot of people seem to believe Frieren could be an equal when the anime is introducing her almost as a goddess of magic.
that being said the barrier breaking was another epic moment, the OST in the back, Genau and Sense realizing she's the mage of the hero party, and Serie being happy the little girl from a thousand years ago grew up a bit.
Comments like this are really funny. The manga is clearly hinting that Frieren (and really any other mage) is capable of beating mages with more mana than they have. In fact even in the anime Frieren states that every time she has lost has been to a mage with less mana than her. Pair that with the fact that we don’t know how far Frieren limits her mana nowadays and that what she shows aura could have just been a sliver, and the fact that the show has shown that flamme could literally predict her masters thought process and had her literally eating out of her hand and would have likely theorized that one day Frieren might have to fight her and therefore teach her the way to defeat her in theory…..people like you are literally like aura when she thought she had Frieren beat and looked directly at the camera, it’s funny asf how many hints you’re missing . This is a shonen at the end of the day (yes it is a shonen). And if the two characters came into conflict Frieren would win, your only hope of Frieren not getting the dub is if the mangakas decide to never have them fight, but that seems very unlikely
Why would Frieren engage an opponent “directly”
@@mookiestewart3776 that's not how it works tbf, Frieren has a very clear understanding that she's not in the same ballpark as Serie, it's clear from how she speaks, mana is one thing, but she has less experience fighting (let's remember that Frieren doesn't really gear herself towards fighting), she has less magic knowledge overall, and we're talking just a bit less, we're talking an immense difference in every category.
Also we know for a fact that was Frieren's entire mana, she released the suppression, so it was all of it, even people like Serie and Lernen, who can see past her suppression, know that it is that much.
You can always bring to any table to kinda cringe plot device theory, but that's not how all shonen work, only people who can't write a decent plot make their own characters win by plot devices, and it's clearly not the case with this show (also they won't ever fight anyway, but a fight with Serie won't be close, actually, it won't even be enough to be called a fight, this becomes ever more clear when you see the next arc.)
I dont think its ever explained, but a good nights sleep seems to be enough to replenish your mana
Granpa Denken, best gramps
Remember, casting a punch cost 0 mana.
In the English dub Sense doesn't say "It's going to break".
Genau says "It will never fracture, not even if the world was turned upside down" and Sense's dubbed line is "Then 'never' is here" right before the shattering. It was a small change but it really elevated the epicness of the moment
Thats why frieren always looking for "legendary" spells. Some one like to get rid of the rust on a Bronce statue, or get rid of oil residue in a pot
It genuinely alludes me as to how any mage, especially those first class ones, do not see her name and immediately shit bricks. I would understand if it were random farmers, but how are they going to work in this profession and not know who Frieren is? It is crazy that this show is so good that the only complaints are over tiny things no one would ever question in a worse show
Love this ep
Denken, out of mana, but no out of options.
9:45 - Richter is basically saying that defensive magic is FAR more mana intensive than his method of using rocks to block attacks. Also his attacks being physical, mean they're more effective against the defensive magic shields that are made specifically to block magic.
I really hope by the story's end every single final enemy they defeat is by using those 'useless spell', like the one to see through clothes, in a clever way.
4:38 it's impressive how accurate the Japanese VA's learned to pronounce all the German names, really.
