  • Hi and welcome to the channel
In this video I detail how I auto trimmed (carpet lined) my van sliding door, the sliding door is probably the most intricate and detailed panel to trim with 4 way stretch van lining by applying the technique's demonstrated in this video you can trim almost anything so have a go
    Parts list:

Some great tips here. For the flat door cards I always lay the material dry on top. Then fold back 6 inches. Apply adhesive and then stick. Then peel the opposite way and work it down about 6 inches at a time. Never gets ripples and i can do a pair of rear doors in about 10 mins max including folding over the edges and trimming.

Good job with your trimming. Did same to my "weekend warrior" Chevy van conversion and used some leftover parts in my current Iveco Daily L4H3 true 4-season campervan build.
Your experiences about getting bypassing people interested in about build is so true, I've also talked hours with total strangers about my build and even some details!

It's so true most of my conversations lately end with
"what's your channel call again I'm gonna look you up now"
We went to a festival recently and had so many people come over to look around the van
I really appreciate it each time is like a pat on the back know that you have created something that drive total strangers to come and talk to you where normally they wouldn't make the effort
We have a Facebook book group it would be nice to see your creations if you have the time 😁

I found it strange that it was not mentioned that's why I covered the subject because when you speake to people nearly all.ssy they have stuck some of it down the wrong way at some point in there build
I wouldn't worry to much if you have not noticed anything chances are you have fitted it the right way if not its always something to talk about 😁👍

Thanks for the video Iv just done my van 🚐 and I enjoyed doing it and like you say what a transformation a bit of carpet makes I can’t believe how you hid your screws 🤔but what happens if you wanted to access behind the panel? I just put a screw cap on the screws and I think it’s looks ok 👍🏻

    • @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife
      @TheCraftyBlindersvanlife  2 года назад +1

Hi thanks for commenting to remove the screw I just take my time to locate them and gently lift tge trim to expose the screw head it's a slow process but works 👍

We're about to do the same ons but don't want a naff finish on the edges. Any photos would be greatly appreciated.

Hi thanks for this great question
so my brother showed me a trick you put masking tape around the door where you don't want auto trim you spray the adhesive as normal on both the door and the auto trim stick them both together and leave for a little while to go off the with a craft knife trace around the edge of the masking tape and peel away the masking tape with the excess auto trim stuck to it leaving a clean cut edge on the auto trim that's totally stuck down and no over spray on the door paint work to clean off it really works

@@TheCraftyBlindersvanlife Yes…this is an important step…but I am not following it. Mask a nice line where you want the edge of the carpet to be….spray the door…masking tape keeps the adhesive from going beyond where you want it to be…..spry the carpet….and THEN, I am confused….how do you trace around the masking tape as it is now under the carpet ?? What am I missing ?? Thank you for your great video…I am starting this process and just need to understand this step…Nice work !!!
