At 1:50 in the below video, you can see the player achieving another ship at the 15,960,000 mark, so the NES version does actually award the player with extra ships after the million mark. With regard to stage 256 being the maximum stage, the game actually allows the player to continue playing stage after stage. At the 3:16 mark, the player playing up to stage 1,291, before playing on until he reached 20M. ruclips.net/video/cMP4QsSEyoY/видео.html
@@paulnguyen8910 I just re-read your previous comment and understand what it meant now. You were referencing the arcade version which makes sense. Your last man is earned at 980,000 and no more thereafter and the last stage is 255, 256 if you count stage "0" that will follow before stage 1 (2nd loop), providing the dips are set to the hardest difficulty, otherwise the game will either freeze up or reset. With regard to achieving your last man at 980,000, that's if the game is set to default settings (20k, 70k and every 70k thereafter). Otherwise, you could actually get more if you change the amount of points in which you're awarded another bonus ship.
Holy cow. I remember this game was damn hard. This player seem to know every bomb and every dive. Amazing.
He's a little TOO accurate. I can't prove it's tool-assisted, but I'm suspicious.
@@jeffw1267 i agree.
When you play it enough times (38 straight years for me), it becomes second nature. 🙂

This game needs to be played with the NES Advantage arcade stick with the turbo settings turned on. That would be AWESOME.
Totally agree. I used it when I scored my pb of 16,201,620 back in the early 90's.
Me: sees the player stay in the middle on the start of stage 8 not getting hit
"Wait that's illegal!"
THIS GUY IS A GOD
Unbelievable!
Galaga is the Best game of all time!
Up there with Tetris. That’s for sure .
Nah.
Why you mean Nah?
As with the arcade original, no extra lives thereafter upon scoring 1,000,000. Level 256 is maximum stage.

At the five minute mark, you seemed to be hitting all the aliens, so I stopped watching.
Unbelievable!
