You have a nice collection. The Green souther, Blue Jersey Central and the Blue Santa fe alco are very neat. The IC 8030 and DT& I 8111 are also awesome

Thank you. I am real pleased with the current scenery, the previous was a clutter of items randomly set to suggest a town. And carving the foam board was therapeutic.

I was just watching a clip on RUclips, about Richard Kuhn & he said he bought Lionel in 1995. I've been picking up some MPC Lionel trains lately (from Garage/Estate-Sales & Second Hand stores. All no-frills stuff, but I like them just fine.

Richard Khun bought Lionel MPC in 1987 not 1995 and the company became Lionel Trains Incorporated AKA LTI. He sold the company in 1996 and then the company became Lionel LLC witch is what it is today.

I have the 8303 Jersey Central which I really like, but the sound board was not functional.
That Blue Alco is very nice looking. MPC had some attractive trains. Thanks for sharing.

MPC is under rated. Without them Lionel may not have survived long enough for Kughn to buy them. They did what they could - Lionel survived and we have a LOT of really nice rolling stock and sets to be thankful for!

MPC is an affordable way to acquire rolling stock to go with my hodgepodge collection of Lionel engines. Thanks for commenting.

Cool vid! Nice CRR of NJ Blue Streak. I need to get the Mighty Sounds of Steam working on mine. I bought my PRR Silver Star with the shell broken in half, fixed that and doctored it up a little. Added a front coupler to one of my Santa Fe Blue Bonnets.

@@johnknippenberg-LandmarkYards Hi John there are two ways to fix the S.O.S. the first way is to look at the underside of the smoke unit, there you will find a small allen type set screw. You will need an .50 allen wrench to use to adjust the screw clockwise or counterclockwise to get the sound of steam to work properly, this may take a few adjustments to get it working the way it should work. You can also try to bend the contacts on the smoke unit but I would not recommend that as a first option it is better to adjust the set screw to get it working. The second thing is if the sound board is fried you ofwill need to replace the 3 capacitorst

    • @MatthewJoseph-td5qc
      @MatthewJoseph-td5qc 3 месяца назад

On the sound board replace the large capacitor with a 470 microfarad capacitor, replace the 2 smaller capacitors with 2 100 microfarad capacitors then the sound board should work. Also make sure you replace the foam material that the board sits on.All of these tricks should help you get your sound of steam working. Sorry I have not gotten back to you in the last few days John but I remember the numbers for the capacitors. Thanks for posting all your videos on Lionel Trains.

Dave, I love your layout design provides great train action, and the layout structure between tracks adds depth. I don't remember that design on your old layout. This view my favorite is the Reading!

The current scenery gives me several good camera angles. MPC has added some color to the collection.

Your engine wobble might be due to a bent axle as you say, but if you are careful, and it is not bent in and eccentric way, then you just need to bend the bent wheel carefully but a firm tool and a firm spot on the engine motor frame. I bought a 8002, 2-8-4 some time back and it had a bad wobble. I think I used a plastic squeeze bar clamp ( Solid plastic clamp with rubber covers that has the metal bar and metal lock.) or a vise-grip or pliers. Some of the wobbly car wheel sets can be more or less fixed with a bend to the axle near the wheel that has the problem with the wheel set off the car. Those I fixed recently with a rail pin type pliers, yes the axle does wobble but the wheel now runs true. (Freight car axle to wheel set one piece design not the loose wheel on the axle design.) Now if you car depends on a straight axle (electric pickup, or the Manards type of trucks.) then more careful adjustment will need to be done. For the engine with the thicker axle, the problem is not so much a off center axle but a bent axle end and the idea above should work without removing the wheels. But in some cases you should remove the rods, and do not apply pressure to the wheel flange, only the solid wheel edge, bending in the wheel that wobbles out as you turn the wheel or you will bend or crack the wheel flange.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

I’m very picky about what goes on the layout. The rest is illusion. There is really very little on this table.

The only problem with some mpc engines is the wheels got drilled off center and cause them to wabble a little. Oddly, the cheaper smaller starter sets was usually perfect. I like moc rolling stock and engines. You get a lot of train for the money. Modern Lionel is overpriced and just waiting for a circuit board to blow.
