It as a grand day out, one of the last before the lock down. Got a couple more to go that I filmed before the hills were closed (this Wednesdays is a cracking wild camp high in Glencoe :)

Oh yes! the weather is now summery here rather than wintry. I ca still see some patches of snow left on the mountains from where I live. Rather frustrating really :( however the hills will be waiting when this is all over :)

Another good video! I turned around before the castle during a storm in March 2019 , went back in summer to do it. Beautiful mountain.

I'd love to be doing this right now! I think it makes you feel REAL. But I'm stuck on the south coast of England, still wondering how I can plan my relocation north of the border. Perhaps one day, I'll join you in that beautiful country...

Hi Murray, You keep coming up with these great memories for me. Id been up here 8 or 9 times in my younger days, summer and winter. Always liked this one, I remember on one occasion I had to crawl on all fours to get off the summit because of the wind. Strange thing I'd been on the summit earlier with very little wind so I went on and climbed Beinn a Chroin. I was feeling great so decided to head back over the summit of An Casteal, big mistake, wind seemed to build from nowhere, lying flat on the summit waiting for a break in gusts so I could eventually crawl off. It was an experience.

Thanks Alex, goes to show you how quickly the weather can change here in Scotland, had a few similar experiences myself in days gone past, always seem to stick in the memory these trips :)

Blowin a Hoolie!
The wind turns a mountain stroll into an expedition very quickly.
Great video and interesting to see your companions opt for micro spikes instead of full on crampons.
I tend to use micros more often these days as I have seen no full on Winter conditions down in the Lakes or Snowdonia for a couple of years now.
I maybe need to venture further north!
these are the last two munros I have to do in that group South of Crainlarich and it looks like fun but I'll perhaps choose a calmer day!
Twas a tad breezy on this trip to be sure... I am sure yo will enjoy them when you get round to doing them Mike :)

Fair play Murray. Was up there the end of last year on a fine day. Sorry not to see you going through the cleft or over the castle. Did you take it head on or the bypass route to the left? Thought the bypass route was a bit dicey in winter conditions. Hope you and all the family are well. Fingers crossed for getting back to the hills soon.
Hi Paul, we stayed on the ridge to just before the castle but the wind was knocking us about so we dropped into the lee of the wind on the right hand side of the ridge - was ok but still a far run out were you to slip here. Much fun was had though and it'll be a while before the axe and crampons will be required again!
