NB - I apologise for the the break up (or down!) at end of vlog, its almost two years to the day since Mum passed so was a little emotional, even before going through the vlog.....

Cant believe im just getting to watch this blog ..after watching your Summit camp blog on SCNL that blog certainly moved me as did watching this blog ..very touching and emotional ..hats off to you big fella ..your Mother would be awfy proud ..class 👌
Wow Murray, that was amazing. I think a big reason for your success is not because of the fantastic photography and video. It’s not because of the great editing and commentary, or the effort you but into getting to these wonderful places. It’s because you come across and a genuine, honest, enthusiastic, passionate about what you do, person. Your choice of No1 video was absolutely perfect. Love the shot of you and your mum. I reckon there will be a few grown men with lumps in their throats watching that. Respect to you Murray, and as always, thanks for the inspiration.
Great comment!!
Great comment!!
Thank you - very much appreciated - hope you enjoy ( and continue to enjoy) the vlogs over the coming months (and hopefully beyond when we get back out in to the great outdoor playground of the mountains :))

You are some man Murray...love watching your videos...yip I knew that one for your mum had to be no.1....so beautiful it was God bless her and you and your family.
Great film. The beauty of what you capture is wonderful. The beauty of your words and emotion regarding your Mother and No’s 1 brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing one of your most personal moments. Sending love.

Fantastic and very moving, in deed! I‘m very thankful that you share this extraordinary footage, Murray, cause I have no head for heights and can only do moderate walks, which I did do on several occasions on holidays in Scotland. It´s great to share these perspectives! Your photos of the Cuillinridge and Bidean nam bean are adoreable!
Murray, your vlogs are out of this world, and a terrific reminder of what we're all missing - as no doubt you are too - during the lockdown. Technically the movies you make are outstanding, but this one brings home what I am sure many of your subscribers appreciate just as much, which is your personal warmth, good humour and humility. The section about your mum was so very touching. Thanks for all the effort you take over these vlogs - they are inspirational. Take care and stay healthy!
Hi Nigel, thank you so much for your kind comment. I really appreciate these comments and as long as I get feedback like this and that people still want to watch the channel , I'll do my best to keep on churning out the videos :)

Hi Murray, I've put a few comments in on your videos. They're brilliant and inspiring. I watched your number 1 just a few weeks ago and felt very very emotional myself, and was so glad you put that letter from your mum in. It was absolutely fitting, and right to put in. My brother was killed whilst cycling in 2007, our last trip together was a 4 night wild camp on Arran in 2006. I do my own films on you tube (they're not to your standard and I have virtually no following haha!), but the best response I got from the you tube viewers was when I went to Switzerland on a cycle tour using his bike which I had repaired for the trip, and during which I told his story. The response I got confirmed it was right to put it in. The mountains always connect me to him, and to all the people I love, and it's so right to acknowledge this. Mountains are more than just conquests or physical achievements, you know this and you put it across so brilliantly in your films. Thanks for your films mate, your mother is so proud of you.
No 1 Vlog always gets me. Seeing you say goodbye in such a beautiful location. Must have been so difficult. Much respect to you Murray.
Always enjoyable, thank you so much, Murray. Experiencing Scotland through your videos. Liv in Ontario.
Murray, I really enjoy all your videos - have for about 6 months now but even more so since the lockdown. Your channel keeps me sane of late and I enjoy flicking between the satellite map, gps routes and your video to see where you are heading to/from. You make me feel as if I am walking along side you during your trips. Thanks so much! Brian.
I was certaninly looking forward to this episode and pleased to report I guessed 3 out of 5! What I didn't expect was the tears rolling down my face when you showed us your number 1 walk. I remember watching that episode with the same emotions then. You really are a truly amazing person Murray, it takes true grit to display your emotions to the world. Anyone bottling up emotions need to take lessons from you. I've found in life if you share your emotions you'll become a stronger person for it.
I was supposed to come over to Skye in June with 6 of my german friends to tackle Sgurr na stri. 4 of them are front line hospital workers so I very much doubt it will happen during the current climate. Luckily the mountains will always be there to summit another day.
Take care Murray, all the very best to you and yours,
Bish 🏴🥃❤️
Thanks Bish, its so nice and comforting to have such supportive and kind feedback to these videos , it really does help. Hope your friends are all safe and well and can make the journey over when things settle down and you get up the wonderful Sgurr na Stri with them all :)

Fantastic video, Murray...especially the part about your mum. ‘Makes it all the more beautiful and special. ‘Even emotional for me with the part about the heart-shaped cloud in the morning! My favorite of yours is one from 4 months ago called “Perfect Landscape Photography Conditions...” There’s enough of a reason from the atmospheric conditions you recorded along with the photos, but your passion and excitement are palpable and contagious! Wonderful!! Thank-you, always!
Thanks Hillel , yeah the heart shaped cloud was something I have only witnessed once and for it to happen when it did was very emotional.
In terms of the Glencoe vlog from a few months ago - last weeks one was from same place

THE best photography of all the mountain blogs. Addicted.
Fantastic as always, Murray. I can certainly understand why your number one is your number one. Very emotional, and none the worst for it. Stay safe yourself, and I look forward to seeing you out on the hills again when all of this is behind us.
Thanks Simon - I dont think any other video will knock that off the number one spot for me - such a special video (even if it does always reduce me to tears when watching :)

No arguments about number 1 mate , just fantastic. I somehow manage to get something in my eye every time I watch it.

Murray that was absolutely stunning. I have rewatched your no.1 choice several times over the last few days. Beautiful, inspirational and very emotional in equal measure !! its why we head into the hills.

Just watched your top 5 and what an inspiration, especially your number 1. Very special share. Many thanks.
Thanks Murray, thoroughly enjoyed that. No surprise at number one and a lovely way to remember your mum. Two years is nothing mate so getting emotional is perfectly understandable. The heart-shaped cloud reminds me of when my brother and I scattered my dad's ashes on his favourite Lake District fell. It had been cloudy all morning and just as we raised as a glass of his favourite whisky (Highland Park), the clouds parted briefly and let the sun through. I still get tearful when I think of it, and that was thirteen years ago.
Keep safe and I look forward to the next one.
Thanks Ian , I too (as you can tell) get emotional when I think about that heart in the sky. All he lovely comments from that vlog (and this one) are also causing a swelling in the throat and the eyes to water. It so nice to have such an awesome community here to not only share the outdoors passion with but also to have such great support from when times are tough, its all very much appreciated

Great video Murray, I love my landscape photography as well as a bit of hiking in the hills...but your images and trips are on a entirely different level from my wee days out.. I love your sentiment and honesty. I lost my father to Ben Achaladair on valentines day 1993 and managed to do a wild camp on the side of Chreachin and then on to Achaladair in May of 2019, the stars were out, the weather fantastic and like your no 1 hike on Bidean Nam Bian, it was a emotional summit for me.
Keep up your great work.I love watching your climbs and wish I was there.👍
Love these videos. It fuels me for my 3 trips a year from London to the hills x
Very moving to watch. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Murray your vlogs are the perfect antidote to the current situation in the world!! I can’t wait to get out and start exploring Scotland...you always provide so much inspiration, the footage is always incredible!!

Scotland's Mountains Thanks for replying Murray very special moments and memories. I have similar memories, thank you for the fantastic vlogs. Take care I wouldn't do some of your climbs they look scary although I used to race motor bikes with no brakes
I saved the moment to watch this to share it with my wife, and wouldn't it also be....... on the day that 10 years ago my own dear mum left this world. Wow........ we were all entitled to an emotional overflow that evening. I suspected that the 'say goodbye' vlog would be the no.1 and rightly so because apart from the underlying message, the scenery that remarkable day saw Scotland at it's very very best and you have recorded it so splendidly - those pictures beggar belief Murray, they really do.
Your Mum has every right to be so very proud of what you are doing and achieving - well done sir and keep going, diversions like those you serve to us are getting us through these tough times without question.
Coupled with regularly accessing your vlogs, my wife and I are blessed by life in our fantastic location and all I should only admit to 'dabbles' into what we look out at here every day......... yes, 'Torridon Tone' here, and genuinely looking forward to seeing folk back out and up in the hills again........ we really know how lucky we are.
Thanks TC, the timing of this vlog was hard as its 2 year now since mum passed, but I am glad it made it to the number one spot. The response (like yours) to this vlog and the orgional one have truly touched my heart :) Hope things are fine up in Torridon and hope t get there once the current situation is all over and done with

Oh Murray, that was just so special. Somehow I missed 6-10 (but will catch up). As soon as I saw the intro, I had a quick scan of my own memories from watching your vlogs and recalled many of them (before even watching). I had a quiet hope ... then I saw #1, I wheeled up with tears when I saw your favourite pick. Oh that has always been such a beautiful & emotional piece. Thank you again for sharing that intimate time. You obviously had a very special bond with your mum and you should not have to apologise for expressing your emotions.
Thank you Kathryn, it was certainly a special video for me, I don't think anything will ever knock it off the number 1 spot. The heart shaped cloud in the morning was something I will never forget.

I’m a new visitor / subscriber to your channel, so have not watched your top 5 videos (yet), but watching this, & having lost my mum a few years back now, I’d say your no.1 choice is very fitting.
Many of your top 5 look like they need a fair bit of experience & skill to access. I’ve been a reasonably competent snow skier, having started at the age of 4, so I’ve experienced skiing some quite extreme off piste terrain, most of it before the tech to record it was readily available, but I have little experience in climbing.
This made me wonder if you might consider a video at some point suggesting view points that mere mortals with little/no climbing experience could aspire to.
There's some great viewing here on RUclips but I honestly don't think there's anything better than those posted by others & especially yourself highlighting what Scotland 🏴 has to offer, thanks for the inspiration..big respect sir, very best wishes & may you all stay safe in these uncertain times & also when the time comes around & your able to get back out on the mountains again 🙏🏼
thanks And - very nice of you to say so, much appreciated :)

Murray, thank you so much for sharing your vlogs. I love your enthusiasm and passion for the mountain and this Top 5 provides a wonderful insight into this. The quality of your filming is superb, but what I also like is your emotional connection to the mountain environment, and this video shows that once again. It's a great antidote to the current 'lockdown' and gets me very excited about the prospect of heading back to Scotland's mountain. Thank you again!! May you and your family stay safe and well.
Thank you Roy - Very much appreciate your comment. The main reason for me continuing the vlogs is exactly what you said , to hopefully provide an antidote to whats happening at th moment - hope you enjoy the vlogs and I will do my best bring a vlog or two out for the coming weeks and months

Catching up on a lot of your Vlogs. Man, you live in such an incredibly beautiful place and you've done countless, amazing hikes and wildcamps. My Scottish trip was cancelled this year but watching your videos is keeping me inspired until I can travel over. That's also a beautiful tribute to your mum and I think you were right to share your thoughts and tears. Like you, I'm not a religious person but that heart shaped cloud the next morning, could make one think otherwise. Either way, there's things we'll never understand and take all these signs and messages when we can, they help with both the grieving process as well as our own individual journey. I look forward to seeing more videos, they're a pleasure to watch. Thank you.

You are such a Inspiration and im always waiting for the next video release in excitement. you have inspired me to launch my own RUclips Channel AVENTURA SCOTLAND doing Trekking, Mountain biking and kayaking. I will be using your vlog as my inspiration. keep it up Murrray, maybe see you on the hills one day!!
Hi, just checked your channel. the trailer looks great. will keep and eye out for episode 1. Love this channel so if your is anything like this should make for a good watch.
Wow cant wait, trailer is well edited. No better channel in Scotland to learn from that Murray's!!
@@watsonthewild144 His channels is epic. Best out there by far.
@@RichiesGreatOutdoors Pretty dawn cool. Subscribed already. Love Scotland. Regards from Canada.
really inspiring the trailer. Cannot wait to see more. Cant get enough of Scotland LOL
Murray, you are an inspiration, I actually started watching your videos 2 years ago in 2018 as I also lost my mum and I needed to get closer to the heavens, so, myself and my wife went up Snowdon on the Rhyd Ddu - Snowdon Ranger path, beautiful sunny day and usual "queue" at the top to stand on the trig point. The day after we walked the Alwen Trail in Denbighsire which is a 7 mile circuit which starts and finishes at a dam, the photo I took at the dam at the end of the walk has the sun in a heart shape and what looks like a mini rainbow angel to the left, your picture of the cloud in your no 1 video reminded me of the same.
Avidly await your forthcoming vids when this crisis is over, I dont teally watch TV now I am a RUclips addict so keep on posting 🏔🏔⛰⛰
Hi Kevin - thank you for those nice works. The outdoors certainly helps me in hard times ad its nice to hear it isnt just me that has these experiences . Hope you get back out and about once this is all over and done with.
Take care and stay safe

Thanks for your top 10 Murray, really enjoyed the trip! That was an emotional ride and I can't imagine how hard that was for you, thanks for sharing. It was a lovely moment in the sky. As a hairy ar$#d scotsman, I found it very emotional. Jeez I get emotional when you do a vlog in Glencoe!
Thank you for sharing, I wish all the best to you and your family. Let's get back outside soon!
Thanks Gregor, it was a tough number one to reflect on TBH, that cloud in the sky the next morning always put a lump in my throat when I think about it...Hope you enjoy the videos in the top 10
Take care , stay safe and thanks for watching

hi Murray, I have recently started watching your vlogs and hugely enjoy them. I love being Scotland, it's a great contrast to where I live in the Yorkshire Dales. The music you feature in this is particularly poignant for as are your sentiments as my Mum passed away on Tuesday, and I am finding that Gavin McCloy track very comforting.
Thanks for the glorious views etc, I will keep watching
Thanks Richard, so sorry to hear of your loss, such a hard thing to go through. Hope you are ok and you will get through this at this hard time.
Take care

I have to agree with The Solo Summiteer, you really got me towards the end. I think of that No.1 vlog as 'The Letter'. The only one of the top 5 I have not done is No.2. I have done Sgurr Alasdair via The Great Stone Chute. As far as scrambling goes I enjoyed Curved Ridge more than Aonach Eagach Ridge. Keep up the good work, stay safe. Regards
Thanks Harry, I think Curved ridge may be shouldve been in the top 10 , its probably a better route than the AE (debatable) but I think the timing and weather for the AE attempt moved it into the top ten :)

@@ScotlandsMountainsHi Murray The adrenaline rush was there for me on the AE but the amount of scrambling and the sun on our backs throughout the climb put it in front for me.
Nearly had me in tears Murray as I did the exact same thing when my mum passed away 2years ago brought back some memories I was on the cobbler with my thoughts ,keep up the good work love all the videos 🗻🗻
Its a hard thing to come to terms with for sure and I'm glad some one else found some help from the great outdoors. Hoping the mountains will b open again before too long

Thanks for sharing this Murray. A fantastic collection of videos and it was great to hear your retrospective thoughts. I don't blame you for your number 1 choice....a lot of my favourite photos have a strong emotional attachment. Anyway, I've got a few more videos for my Watch Later list now. Cheers mate, and stay safe.
thanks Julian, the photos are always a lot more special when they have an emotional reason behind hem for sure. Been enjoyed your videos too - keep up he great work

Brilliant, Murray. Think I have watched most of those videos!
We are off to Skye again in August (constraints permitting) and I cant wait to see Elgol, the Cullins and we are staying up in Staffin (walk through the Quirang), then over to Harris and Lewis - think I'll try and make a few videos myself and have go! You have inspired me! :)
Hope you get away in August and hope the weather shines for you when you go :) I absolutely suggest you stat making some videos - they are a great way of saving some of those memories and also reliving the adventure once its over :)

Hi Murray, couldn't agree more about keeping it virus free and this was a great top five which had me laughing one minute then filled with vertigo induced fear the next but then on to the number one. I could not agree more with your choice and you should never apologise for your emotions as we are all human and have feelings, as for that image in clouds at the end, that gave me goose bumps and I too am not a spiritual person.
Take care of your self and as always thanks for sharing these gems.
Atvb Brian.
Thanks Brian, must admit I found it tough doing the no1 review. I think it brings all those emotions back to the present (plus its almost exactly 2 years since my mums passing). Really appreciate all these comment like yours and the support we get from this great wee community on YT. Its all very much appreciated

@@ScotlandsMountains Thank You Murray, you are an inspiration and I can't wait for the next vlogs. It's escapism for those of us not able to hae the privilege tae see and experience the places you take us on your journeys. My biggest regret that due to work commitments when I was younger I never got to do as much hill walking as I would have liked. Now no longer able to do it, your vlogs are better than any TV for me. Long may they continue.. Your mother was a very special woman to raise such an inspirational young man as yourself, I love the love you showed for her, very moving. ..Can I ask one question, are you a professional photographer, because you sure do present some truly amazing pictures..There are a few pictures that you have taken that I would love to attempt tae paint. I'm not an artist, I just like to try and paint some pictues that inspire me... Until your next vlog, thank you again for taking us along wae you on your journeys.
Just superb Murray. The number 1, well, it had to be really. Stay safe.
