      We all think that. In fact most of long term kings fans kind of decided that it was ODD, but it was Blake’s gamble. Considering the value lost I have to say Blake really doesn’t deserve another chance. But, as a true fan, I hope he proves all of us wrong.

      Hey, mistakes are made. Blake also brought in some good players who have helped move the compass. Since the Kings haven't had a #1 pick since 1967, obviously we've gone a long time without any real superstar players. Thus, we try to create teams out of handouts/other team rejects and surprises from deep in the drafts. And, seeing how long it's taken Edmonton to come close to the Cup, it would be rude to attack other teams. Let's just say there are some truly gifted Gms who can turn mold into a beautiful loaf of bread ;-)

    • @bhbecca
      @bhbecca 3 месяца назад +1

      The deal didn't work out. It was a mistake. Blake owned it. Let's see if he can turn this thing around. Every GM makes bad deals-- this one was just a doozy. But you see Washington thinks they got a great deal. In seven or eight months they won't think that, but PLD has the tools-- just no heart and no operating instructions.

      Kings got fleeced by the Jets. Did well with the Capitals. Unfortunately, in this case if you add both trades together it adds up to a loss. The Jets trade was a grade F trade whereas the Caps trade was a B+. Ultimately, it adds up to about a C- when you consider both deals together.

    • @bhbecca
      @bhbecca 3 месяца назад +2

      How do you figure the Kings got fleeced? You must not be familiar with PLD's work or his contract that runs at seven more years at $8.5M!!!! Kings got a serviceable goalie with only three more years remaining. If he rebounds and has a good season they might even be able to trade him. Or they can buy him out for the last two years-- that's only $11M total before a negotiated buyout. This is one of Blake's better moves.

  • @bhbecca
    @bhbecca 3 месяца назад +1

    PLD is an immensely talented player, but he's the tin man-- no heart. So lazy. Coasts around the ice. He's a big dude, who doesn't stick up for his teammates. Disappears to the point it's maddening. When the Kings' coach was fired he suddenly came out blazing-- obviously management spoke with him. He had several games where he was the best player on the ice-- hitting, protecting the puck in the corners, backchecking-- and then as fast as he showed up-- he disappeared. If the Kings hadn't made the trade they would have bought him out-- he was that bad. Washington just made a huge miscalculation. They see the potential-- as we all have, but it wasn't the coach or the location-- he had no excuses. He played before sellout crowds every night. Doughty and Kopitar give 100% every shift of every game-- and they're old. You can't teach desire. This guy is the opposite of the Tkachuks. No one will ever confuse him with Bobby Clarke or Bryan Trottier. Washington is going to now be on the hook for his big money deal for seven-years. As a Kings fan I breathe easier now and I respect Rob Blake for owning the mistake-- that's hard to do. I wish him well, but this is his 4th team at age-25 for a reason.

    It’ll be interesting to see because, PLD is 10 years younger and he had a terrible season in LA as we all know. But he put up 70 points with Winnipeg last year so if he can go to Washington be that number one center he could bounce back especially with Ovi and others. He’s only 25, so he should be able to bounce back. On the other hand, the kings acquire a 35-year-old goalie who makes 5 million for the next three years. He got his starting job taken away by an ahl goalie who essentially came out of nowhere. Idk man both contracts are bad but I know people would call me crazy but PLD is 10 years younger and he still has a chance of bouncing back. I’d give this a win to the capitals slightly.
