I really think waste not / mono black discard is actually in a great spot. It's a control deck and can answer most of the A tier threats, especially since we are on 2 sweepers in the main now. Extinction event is the best sweeper in the format right now, and being able to main 2 is very powerful right now. Also why dimir is in a great spot tbh
Both decks may potentially be in a good spot, but it hasn't proven out recently. Hopefully in the next few weeks we can see it play out online!
I think Waste Not gets a lot better when you swap out Bankbuster for Mazemind Tome. The four life buys you an extra turn, and being able to scry away four dead draws for free is better than it looks.
I played mono white last week and it felt really good.
I've been messing around with the new raccoon cards from bloomburrow, and I think a raccoon deck might have potential. Here's hoping to see it up on the board in your september tier list.
I like the 4/4 racoon with gift a lot. I'm really hoping some of the kindred decks like bats and lizards and raccoons can make a splash. Would love to see it!
Me too, although otter decks with a lutri companion might be a little ridiculous. And unfortunately that 4/4 didn't make the cut. The gift mechanic doesn't work too well with collected company. Edit: I just remembered yorion exists and is blue/white so bird decks get a companion as well
That's super fair for a dedicated kindred coco deck. I'm excited for that one specifically for mono green sideboards xD
What happened to the fires shootout that had 2 top 8s and a W. Only lost 2 rounds. 80% win rate

If you're not on vampires, amalia or phoenix you're toast. Or the RNG green devotion hands. sigh
Azorius control just took first place at an RCQ on June 26th and I believe won a major tournament in St Louis as well. Forgot what it was called but I remember it was first and Mono Green Devotion was 2nd place.
Not bad for D tier deck!
Winning the NRG was very nice to see! Anything on the tier list can take down an RCQ - it's just less likely. It's good to see decks adjusting to the metagame and UW certainly gains points by beating up Amalia.
@@darthjacen you are entitled to your opinions but I am going to present my position on why you are incorrect to put Azorius in D tier:
it’s win rate for the last few months has been 50% or more and some weeks above 55% and consistently getting trophies and top 8 finishes. You made mention of aggro being on the decline. Slower formats are better for control. By definition it can’t be D tier if aggro is falling.
Azorius is clearly at least B tier. I play both Azorius and Dimir the lion share of my Arena matches and Azorius feels better positioned than Dimir Control based on hundreds and hundreds of matches I’ve played in the last month. Although I do a fair bit of winning with both decks.
Azorius may not be A but it’s most certainly not D.

Hi, thanks for this video! I'm new to Pioneer, but would like to go to an RCQ. Do you think any of the A tier decks can be built in a budget friendly version yet still on a good power level? I got a suggestion that maybe mono humans could be budget, but that's only D tier.
It depends what you consider budget. Phoenix and Amalia have the most ability to be close enough budget wise, but the best deck at closer to budget price is probably mono red, mono white humans, or gruul aggro. Izzet ensoul is another reasonable budget friendly choice. It's a little tough, just because most the top decks are a little pricer, but any of the above decks can take down an event when played well!
@@darthjacen I was looking at a budget of up to £100 (~110 USD) and most of the Phoenix decks I've been looking at are around the 250-300 mark or even more. I did not expect this quick answer so I appreciate it really much! Monocolour would mean avoiding expensive dual lands for this first event.
Yeah, at that price point mono red, mono white humans, or mono U spirits are your best bets. Red and U both give you a path to a top tier deck pretty easily, so I'd lean towards them if you want yo build up to a more costly deck in the future :)
Bro izzet phoenix is a budget deck it’s like $250, that’s a third of everything else that’s tier 1.
What about that golgari sacrifice graveyard plant deck
I love Roots, but after a few weeks of strong showings, it hasn't shown up very much. It's likely around B-C tier in power level, but doesn't get enough play rate some weeks.
RCQ tomorrow and I will try rakdos bronco. Don't know if it's good enough, but seems fun and powerful

Do you have an opinion about Creativity with Vaultborn Tyrant or not at all ? :)
A solid enough deck to take down a local or the occasional event, but it has really struggled since Amalia became a top tier deck. It's just not fast enough against enough of the format and the red removal side lines up fine, but sometimes awkwardly against vampires, Amalia, and green. Overall it's power level is strong enough to be C tier or higher, the metagame just isn't right for it at the moment. Tyrant is a good choice since the combo versions are a little rougher right now, but I've always somewhat preferred the combo version.

The top decks are so much better and popular esp in top tables that I rarely see any of the decks at B - D tier. I get that sometimes these decks do put up a rare result, but they only feel loosely part of the metagame...
Yeah, up until this week they hadn't pulled quite so far ahead, but this week was a real gap between the A Tier and kind of everything else.
when are mono white humans going to peak.? i like it but i know it aint it
It was at its strongest back when devotion was good before. Only problem is Amalia didn't exist then and Phoenix and Rakdos are still tough matchups.

I used Boros burn in my last rcq, I was on top 4. Only vampires defeated me but I was able to give an epic battle.
