Trust me, it's far better in real life. You get a really unique experience (in a good way) from being so low to the ground all the time. One of the pros of having British Rail build it is that it really is a runaway train!
This is the best roller coaster for me. This year (2014) it has been confirmed that the Ultimate is the longest roller coaster in the whole of Europe. :)
Ik it does hurt but I didn't get bruises at the time and it gives u an headache after once u rode it after 2 times plus when u go over a bump it litterely cant stop ur self from standing up a bit
coold8144 Yeah they came off looking pretty pale, mostly from the drop but also from the fact that the deer were right at the bottom and actually ran across the track as the coaster approached. So lucky they didn't get hit, my friends were at the front!
I went on this today with my school! Coolest roller coster I have ever been on apart from banging my knees against the seat because of how sharp the turns are.
Does anyone know if Lightwater Valley ever stays open past dark? On their website, they list the closing time as 6pm at the latest. I would LOVE to ride this through the forest at night!
i dove for 7 hours from cornwall to ride this when it first opened in 91 i think, excited to be going on the then worlds longest coaster! to say i was dissapointed is an understatement. at one point i thought we would have to get out and push!
I'm 10 and I feel like its the best ride ever, people who say its boring......... It is sooo scary and it feels like its going 500 miles an hour but actually it only goes 70
Great coaster, I used to go on it at least 10-15 times whenever I went to lightwater valley as a kid, some of my fondest memories are from that place. Queueing was never much of an issue as I recall as it's not a massive theme park. It must be quite old by now, still looks fun.
my firend asked me to go on this ride with him and i was rather scared, so i watched this video and thought it doesn't seem so bad, looks rather fun..... looks can be decieving... brilliant ride!!!
+XpGamers Monicleman the Map is called "Katie's World" and the ride In-game goes by "The Storm". its in the Original RCT game, its a close replication of Lightwater Valley
This coaster would be awesome to go on, definitely! The thing that sets this ride apart from all others, is that it was built on the country side and through a big valley and Forrest areas. I think this was an exciting idea, whoever built this coaster, because now people who live in that particular area, and on the country side, can come and ride this exciting rollercoaster and have a great time. I just watched this video. Because this coaster was built like it was, it offers a lot of scenic views of the big wide beautiful valleys and goes through a beautiful Forrest area as well. Also, I think "this" coaster would probably be one of very "few" to run through a beautiful valley like that. I think more coasters in the future should be built like that.
This has got to be the most boring rollercoaster I've ever seen. Also, I'm surprised more animals aren't mauled on a regular basis being out in the open like that.
“There is a large perimeter fence surrounding the theme park but occasionally wild animals do manage to stray onto the park during the night. “After the incident The Ultimate was closed for 30 minutes whilst the ride was thoroughly checked and then normal operation resumed.” Source: www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/theme-park-carnage-lightwater-valley-4345821?ICID=FB_mirror_main
kevin p thank you 👏👏👏👏👏 I never seen a roller coaster so out in the open and it's unnecessary and dangerous, anyone could wonder onto those tracks and die
Yeh they could... if they climbed the fence thats there to prevent people from gaining access to the tracks... just like pretty much every other rollercoaster in the world.
If you ride it, you'll eat those words. I'll just say this as proof. After the second main drop everyone actually keeps their hands and arms inside the train and hold on.
I'm actually kind of intrigued that the designer used the contours of the land to design the shape of the ride! Not much damage done to the surrounding land AND they made what looks to be a dang fun coaster. Love it!
this is a great video. ive bin on that ride too many times the best seat is right at the back, at the front you are halfway down drop before it gets going, its much better and faster at the very back seat.
This reminds me a little bit like The Beast in Cincinnati, being a terrain coaster which pretty much hugs the ground and it's natural hillsides. The Beast, however is a thrill ride going at break-neck speeds through the woods and valleys around sharp blind twists and turns and numerous underground tunnels...but this one on the video is a scenic ride with much contrast in the changes of feel of the ride and enjoyment of traveling along country roads and pastures and just sheer nastalgia!
Im extremely jealous!!! This is exac tly what we need here in the states. A long coaster that go thru huge tick tree lines. I get kinda bored being flipped upside down, & being able to see the next turn on inversion. 7min ride, too damn cool!!!
i went to lightwater valley 2day!!! it was fab make sure you go on eagle's claw, black pearl and whirlwind. I didn't go on the ultimate cause the queue time was 90 minutes (1hr 30mins)!
I had to laugh when everyone screamed when they went through the second tunnel because I do the same thing, that's where our photo's were taken!!! Love this ride!!!
this ride is actually very unique.... it starts off in a countryside kinda atmosphere and feels like going in a regular train. but infact a roller coaster. awesome.. its really different from the rest of the regular ''in-the-park' rides.. this takes it a bit further
I went on this today and laughed the whole way through. I thought sod it, if I'm gonna die it's gonna be laughing. Loved it. BTW, it's a minute faster than showed here - we timed the one before us. The trip here seems to slow down big time between the two climbs - almost to a standstill. That didn't happen with us; we fair rocketed down the straight and over the bumps
Out of all the rides there you can't beat Hurricane, but the Ulti is definitely worth a go. My only recommendation is sit as close to the front as possible, the second drop is unreal.
i was on this yesterday, only we were on the blue carts and the red ones were stationary on that extrat track. I have bruises on the inside of my knees from the second half after the two drops
this is the best ride ever been on it many times. the second drop always gets me in fact hurt my knee a bit on it last time what with all that being thrown about lol. but its still the most amazing ride ever
I never saw this ride before until the news of the deer and by the looks of it, i dont see how it doesnt happen more often, not just by deers, but any creature in general. its built in the middle of no where
It has a large perimeter fence around the whole ride, just not right next to the track, doesn't take a genius to work it out as you can see fence in the video.
"'There is a large perimeter fence surrounding the theme park but occasionally wild animals do manage to stray onto the park during the night. It is not the first time a deer has been killed after getting to close to the Ultimate rollercoaster." Because clearly if theres a gated perimeter, that means it will always block out all wild animals including rodents and birds as well. Many geniuses are actually just ignorant.
maddjosh69 Wow you definitely are a genius. Except if you actually read about the incident you would have realized there were no damaged fence and they reopened the ride 30 minutes later. If there were a damaged fence, they wouldn't reopen the ride till it was fixed
This is a great roller coaster. Managed to get on it 6 times at the end of one summers day years ago. Rode it - got off then got straight back on - that's rare nowadays. In the words of Cartman - " I HATE LINES"
What queue? I didn't see anyone standing in line waiting when the train came back to the station. Nice speeds with a few drops and nice countryside view. Way too many slow downs! A lift chain to bring the train back to the station?!
Best Ride I ever been on loved it, not so keen on heights so the drops were really scary for me. Over all it was great :D I was petrified when I went down!
went on a school trip there what must be coming up 30 years ago now.. we were 12 then jeez 40 now.. where did the time go.. wonder where we all are now... memories ..
Went on this today. Very good and really fast. Drops are not bad. The worst bit is getting bashed about in the woods. My left side was a bit sore but It was fine.
When we got to the top of the second hill there was these two men up there with screwdrivers n that and when we pulled into the station thing it broke down so was stuck in the seats but they gave us a jump que thing :)
I dont wanna go on it without my best friend ! I dont feel safe going on any other rides at light water valley without my best mate!!! She's there to help me when im scared !
Aside from the fact this rollercoaster doesn't go very fast or anything, I think I'd enjoy it. It's very scenic, and good for nature lovers who want just the right amount of thrill ;D
I went on this today with school, your scared when ur just going up the big start hill and then after that its just tooo good:) but I got a massive bruise on my elbow at the forest bit but still a really good ride!
I have been on this ride so many times, and I have to say that the worst injury I have ever had has been a few bruises on my legs. To any of those who are scared to go on because of all the comments, trust me, if you just hold tight and push back into your seat, you will be fine. Alot of people complain that it is to tame, but trust me, it isn't. I took my friend on, who has ridden pretty much everything, and he poo'd it. The bumpy bit through the trees MAKES this ride, it doesn't condemn it.
Trust me, it's far better in real life. You get a really unique experience (in a good way) from being so low to the ground all the time. One of the pros of having British Rail build it is that it really is a runaway train!
when i was a kid, i waited 2 hours in the queue to get on the ultimate, and when i finally got to the front with my dad, i was too small.
i cried 😂
now there is no que
lol poor u
jayjay2016 ikr
Emma awwww
So Sorry to hear, i hope you got the chance to ride with this coaster later in your life.
This is the best roller coaster for me. This year (2014) it has been confirmed that the Ultimate is the longest roller coaster in the whole of Europe. :)
This ride looks sick but i have to admit it looks like a ride a kid would build on rollercoaster tycoon
There is a recreation of this ride made by Chris Sawyer (RCT creator) in Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 that came with the main game.
Mind = blown
I disagree. I think it's really cool that it's shaped like the mountains where it's at.
No wonder this ride is seven minutes long it takes about three minutes to get to the top of the lift hill
Doesn't feel like it when your on it though!
Charley wilkinson I know the suspense just builds up.
ROLLER COASTER KID that also makes the que line wait longer
ROLLER COASTER KID it doesn't feel it when you're on there tho 😂
Ohhh yea i went on this way back was amazing
Been here millions of times. I got front seat every time with my BFF. LOVE IT!!!!
You could make a sandwich on that lift hill lol
You literally could it takes so long when you're on the ride. Most of the ride is just on that hill
it toook so long i thought it was one of those fake video where they just continue to go up
Sam17 oh I make a hole subway
Sam17 it doesn't feel like it takes that long when you're on the ride lol
You could probably sell a few and have everyone finish eating in time for the drop lol
For some strange reason, this looks more like a crazy miniature railway than a roller coaster. lol!
This ride is so painful!! I have bruises everywhere from being thrown around on it!
Ikr
Ik it does hurt but I didn't get bruises at the time and it gives u an headache after once u rode it after 2 times plus when u go over a bump it litterely cant stop ur self from standing up a bit
Cerin Owens ikr but I still love it
Ik I love it too
Cerin Owens Can't agree more
When I saw how long this ride was on this video was, I thought they were going to show an off ride POV also. Great ride!
My left ear enjoyed this
Same
+Gigidag77 My left ear didn't enjoy the actual ride, got buffeted around so much I could barely feel the side of my head by the end of it!
your profile pic gives me cancer
"That's so very very sad!"
Richie Phillips ha..haha..ha so funny I forgot to breathe ._.
I'm going on it on Monday with my friends never been on a roller coaster before so i have been watching this video on repeat over and over again.
I love this ride so much
i went on this 9 times in row once and i always wundered why theres a bit spare
one day that train isn't going to return
CelsiusDrumz 😱😱😱
CelsiusDrumz it's not a train
CelsiusDrumz it's a roller coaster and also that is very nice to know as I am going there soon 😂
You're actually dumb. A train is classified as 3 carts or more (or carriages). Therefore the carts on coasters are called "trains"...
CelsiusDrumz it doesn't sometimes!
An excellent ride, with the rural setting and track going through the woods making it practically unique.
The front is crap. If you go on it go to the back. It's faster and just amazing
If the back was faster than the front, then the back of the train would pass the front of the train. Thats physically impossible lol.
@@pizzafroth1521 this comment is 6 years ago there is no chance the dude is gonna get the notification
One of the best rides I've been on, so fun!! I'd recommend it to anyone who loves rickety, fast, jolty rides! It's amazing!
Out in the woods is beautiful, but what if you hit a deer?
My friends went on it the other day and they almost did!
Wow, it must have been scary. I looked on Wikipedia and it says that it actually happened once.
coold8144
Yeah they came off looking pretty pale, mostly from the drop but also from the fact that the deer were right at the bottom and actually ran across the track as the coaster approached. So lucky they didn't get hit, my friends were at the front!
www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/theme-park-carnage-lightwater-valley-4345821 happened recently.
happened the other day lol.
I went on this today with my school! Coolest roller coster I have ever been on apart from banging my knees against the seat because of how sharp the turns are.
This looks like it was designed by a 4th grader playing RCT.
Funnily enough, this ride is in RCT1. The "Katie's World" Scenario is based on this park, and they have a shorter replica.
Totally agree!
You try making a roller coaster then.
Sophie Alexander While I don't have the resources to manufacture a roller coaster, I can certainly design a better track layout in NoLimits.
Fahrenheit4051 It was in fact manufactured by British rail, who has little to no experience in making roller coasters
i adore this ride. flying through forests and fields on a roller coaster is amazing.
Does anyone know if Lightwater Valley ever stays open past dark? On their website, they list the closing time as 6pm at the latest. I would LOVE to ride this through the forest at night!
I went on this 2 times I think
Go on big night out😜 it closes at like 10
Very unOfficial Travel Guides Halloween
i have
Isabelle Martin uuuh it's frightwater valley
i dove for 7 hours from cornwall to ride this when it first opened in 91 i think, excited to be going on the then worlds longest coaster! to say i was dissapointed is an understatement. at one point i thought we would have to get out and push!
I'm 10 and I feel like its the best ride ever, people who say its boring......... It is sooo scary and it feels like its going 500 miles an hour but actually it only goes 70
Ty someone at least agrees wiv me it's brill I loved it
This does not go 70mph it's only goes like 40-60mph
Actually it's 50-60mph I've been on it Deacon Fletcher
No but the ultimate feels like it
***** The top speed is actually 51mph on a good day! :)
Great coaster, I used to go on it at least 10-15 times whenever I went to lightwater valley as a kid, some of my fondest memories are from that place. Queueing was never much of an issue as I recall as it's not a massive theme park. It must be quite old by now, still looks fun.
This ride felt intense in my left ear :/
this ride is best in the rain! absolutely mad! also well done to the lads singing at the back
I went on this ride and I got a bruised back if the hard seats.
Same! And a sore head!
narcissusdark bollocks
narcissusdark because you can't get concussed off the ultimate unless you deliberately banged your head.
they're meant to be soft
I don't think they have that kind off harness now!
my firend asked me to go on this ride with him and i was rather scared, so i watched this video and thought it doesn't seem so bad, looks rather fun..... looks can be decieving... brilliant ride!!!
This looks like a Roller Coaster Tycoon theme park in real life.
+Oxalis October What's it called?
+XpGamers Monicleman the Map is called "Katie's World" and the ride In-game goes by "The Storm". its in the Original RCT game, its a close replication of Lightwater Valley
Shame no-one re-created it in RCT-3
+Vermouth On The Rocks yea someone has recreated on rct3 but you have to find it some sites

The ride was built by an old couple who ran the farm/country park at the time, not by mass theme park manufacturers?
+Ben Wyatt *manufacturers!
This has got to be the most boring rollercoaster I've ever seen. Also, I'm surprised more animals aren't mauled on a regular basis being out in the open like that.
That's what linked me to this video.

snowflakelove1616 well they couldn't as it's in the park grounds and the woods are surrounded by huge barb wire fences.
Yeh they could... if they climbed the fence thats there to prevent people from gaining access to the tracks... just like pretty much every other rollercoaster in the world.
the second half of this coaster looks awesome!
This looks really boring
If you ride it, you'll eat those words. I'll just say this as proof. After the second main drop everyone actually keeps their hands and arms inside the train and hold on.
***** actually that's the big one.
No it is the best ride ever
karam riaz that's going a bit far. There are a lot of better rides out there.
well when you get off it you'll regret that it bruses you a lot and goes pretty fast. And ive rode the fastest ride in europe!
I'm actually kind of intrigued that the designer used the contours of the land to design the shape of the ride! Not much damage done to the surrounding land AND they made what looks to be a dang fun coaster. Love it!
this is a great video.

I'm going to Lightwater Valley on the 26th! I can not wait to go on this ride!!!!!
Wow, very nice. That is an awesome scenic roller coaster. I would enjoy that.
The second half of this ride looks awesome!
Im extremely jealous!!! This is exac tly what we need here in the states. A long coaster that go thru huge tick tree lines. I get kinda bored being flipped upside down, & being able to see the next turn on inversion. 7min ride, too damn cool!!!
I enjoyed this! It's my first time hearing of it due to the recent deer tragedy.
i went to lightwater valley 2day!!! it was fab make sure you go on eagle's claw, black pearl and whirlwind. I didn't go on the ultimate cause the queue time was 90 minutes (1hr 30mins)!
Amazing rollercoaster! Went on it today. Brilliant exept my elbow is now dust because of the bit in the forest:P
It absolutely kills!
went on that today, what a brilliant ride, was at front too!
I had to laugh when everyone screamed when they went through the second tunnel because I do the same thing, that's where our photo's were taken!!! Love this ride!!!
Went on it twice today. Apart from getting knocked about quite a lot, its a great ride.
its amazing this ride love lightwater valley love the end bit nears the woods
normally on rollercoasters you wait for ages and then the ride goes on for about 30 seconds this ride is well worth waiting for
Looks like fun and I like the way it is built into the terrain. Obviously though the USA has the best coasters in the world.
this ride is actually very unique.... it starts off in a countryside kinda atmosphere and feels like going in a regular train. but infact a roller coaster. awesome.. its really different from the rest of the regular ''in-the-park' rides.. this takes it a bit further
i sat on this today loving it when it drops into the forest
I went on this today and laughed the whole way through. I thought sod it, if I'm gonna die it's gonna be laughing. Loved it. BTW, it's a minute faster than showed here - we timed the one before us. Yesterday went on a school trip, I'm not really a fan of roller coasters/high rides but the ultimate was freaking epic, went on it twice :D
Out of all the rides there you can't beat Hurricane, but the Ulti is definitely worth a go. My only recommendation is sit as close to the front as possible, the second drop is unreal.
i was on this yesterday, only we were on the blue carts and the red ones were stationary on that extrat track. I have bruises on the inside of my knees from the second half after the two drops
this is the best ride ever been on it many times. the second drop always gets me in fact hurt my knee a bit on it last time what with all that being thrown about lol. but its still the most amazing ride ever
i went on this when i was 8 and it scared the hell out of me and put me off rollercoasters all together
Like some weird hybrid of The Beast and Expedition Everest, but still completely unique. Looks like an awesome ride!
This reminds me of beginner coasters in RCT that have a bunch of random lift segments to get the ride around.
have fun! we were gonna go but our head of year has broken her arm,grrrrr....was so looking forward for it too !
It is not the first time a deer has been killed after getting to close to the Ultimate rollercoaster."
Because clearly if theres a gated perimeter, that means it will always block out all wild animals including rodents and birds as well.
Many geniuses are actually just ignorant.
*****
Yes, but have you ever heard a damaged fence, not uncommon in the country.
maddjosh69 Wow you definitely are a genius. Except if you actually read about the incident you would have realized there were no damaged fence and they reopened the ride 30 minutes later. If there were a damaged fence, they wouldn't reopen the ride till it was fixed
*****
I have read it, but what i'm saying is it isn't imposible for animals to get near the track because of broken fences...
OMG I'm 11 and I've been on this with my dad and I can honestly say it was the best ride I've ever been on😃
This is a great roller coaster. Managed to get on it 6 times at the end of one summers day years ago. Rode it - got off then got straight back on - that's rare nowadays.
In the words of Cartman - " I HATE LINES"
Just went on this today and it's such a rough jerkey ride!
So many memories back then in Ripon College such lovely times and a job in Light too !
Really want July to hurry up!!! going there with the school and I NEED to get on this!
love this ride so much
The landscape is so pretty. :D
Never seen anything like this before!!!! I would totally ride this!!! :)
What queue? I didn't see anyone standing in line waiting when the train came back to the station. Nice speeds with a few drops and nice countryside view. Way too many slow downs! A lift chain to bring the train back to the station?!
WTF it's like someone made this in RCT3! Also my left ear got too much love.
Best Ride I ever been on loved it, not so keen on heights so the drops were really scary for me. Over all it was great :D I was petrified when I went down!
I went on this ride 3 times today!
Each time I smashed my knees off the supports, but it's worth it!
That is pretty awesome how it follows the ground instead of support hills
Went on it today, I like it got some sore knees from them bashing on the seat when it goes in the forest :D
I have been on this roller coaster and it really struggles to get up the hills but is so fun
ive been on this ride:D
it did hurt a bit
its probably the best ride ive ever been on!
went on a school trip there what must be coming up 30 years ago now.. we were 12 then jeez 40 now.. where did the time go.. wonder where we all are now... memories ..
FREAKIN LOVE DIS RIDE!!! It's super scary though. I have dreamt about in every night ever since i went on it!!! DA FAQ????
this ride is acctually in england at lightwater vally theme park near skipton in yorkshire
Going on this tomorrow. Hope this video will be helpful but last time I went I had bruises all along my hip. Hurt like hell!
I went with my school last year, this ride is awesome but the eagles claw and the whirlwind and this are my top 3 :) Going again next friday (:
Might be going next week can't wait to go on this
This rollercoaster is amazing
Went on this today. Very good and really fast. Drops are not bad. The worst bit is getting bashed about in the woods. My left side was a bit sore but It was fine.

I went on this today with school, your scared when ur just going up the big start hill and then after that its just tooo good:) but I got a massive bruise on my elbow at the forest bit but still a really good ride!
Haha - went on this years ago with the school. Loved it - plus the broken back :-)
This is awesome! I wanna build one of these on my farm!
I quite like the park's use of terrain in the design of this roller coaster.
Holy crap that ride is long though.
This might seem weird but I love this coaster's lift hill sounds. (:
i went on this for the first time last week. i thought ooh it'll be alright, and it was. except it really hurt, especially after the second drop! x
I love how they have the lifts set to be insanely slow so that the ride seems even longer.
i went on this ride today and the drops were bare scary and the twists are rough but fun
I have been on this ride so many times, and I have to say that the worst injury I have ever had has been a few bruises on my legs. To any of those who are scared to go on because of all the comments, trust me, if you just hold tight and push back into your seat, you will be fine.
