Was watching "The Wedding Band" movie and David was in it. My son saw him and said "Oh, he did Sledgehammer"...so I came here to watch the show. It is so funny! Hahahahahaha They picked the perfect actor for this character.
Dude, thank you so much for uploading these. They bring back great memories as my family and I used to watch these in England growing up in the 80's. You rock 🤙!!!!!
I get almost unreasonably sad when a video gets struck; lost a half-dozen channels over the years. It's not like I'm curing cancer, but it's important to share things that either can't be bought at all or found with the video quality of what I've got squirreled away.
@@futonrevolution7671 We're all so lucky you've taken such good care of your VHS tapes over the years. Clearly you take a lot of pride in representing vintage Sledge and uploading each episode with precision & care as it definitely shows!! I love the fact that the audio is perfect with zero sync issues. You've also made sure the intro and outro is included on each episode. Do you have the complete series (41 episodes I think) or just the 23 episodes?
Sorry about the (extremely) late reply! I have the complete series, but there are some quite decent copies of the 2nd season on youtube, and I've gotten into copyright trouble with those episodes. The ones from this 1st season that were taken down recently were from personal flags. I believe that the pilot was removed for "violence" which shows just how silly the people who take exception to the uploads are. I could probably risk uploading the documentaries again, since the commercials still haven't been taken down this time around. Thank you so much for the kind words!

This one is a classic! I love how the cat even has a reaction to Hammer being alive and then immediately the boss gets his comeuppance by falling out the window. Thanks for the explanation about going up against Dallas and Miami Vice. Now I get the joke from the Elvis episode.
As you noted in the description - Dallas and Miami Vice were big, so they got a bigger hammer - a sledge hammer (also known in the construction industry as the BFH) The Harrison Ford reference was one I missed (I did not see that movie) but episode one had the clasped hands fist of doom from Captain James T Kirk in Star Trek :) and in episode two it was star wars. (I think)
Al Ruscio, who frequently appeared in gangster roles and played the mob boss here, also played practically the same character on Police Squad as the mob boss shaking down the stores where Leslie Nielsen sets up as a locksmith. One of the assassins here was also on an episode of Police Squad.
@@perfectsplit5515 I've watched all the Sledge episodes and I just couldn't take him serious as Sledge, or the storylines. Parnell, however, was a regular cocaine user trying to cover up one of his cocaine-induced blunders. A more realistic, believable approach imho.
I'm missing something: that's obviously not the way you pronounce Mennonites. Someone please explain why they hilariously say Menninote, was it to avoid backlash from that community? Also funniest line ever: "Hey, haven't I seen You on oatmeal boxes?!" God that's hilarious!!! Only 80s forever!
Yup. They gave him a wacky what-people-think-German-sounds-like accent. It's actually why the Amish are called the Pennsylvania Dutch... when they told people that they were Deutsch, people misheard it as Dutch and it stuck.
Futonrevolution I dont think you understood the question. Is "meninote" real, close to something real, or is it a joke on some other word. Sledgehammer is a comedy, not a documentary. So it has to be a joke, but I dont see it.
Oh, okay. Mennonites are a real thing and are basically extreme pacifist Anabaptists who really like the color blue. The joke in the episode is along the lines of no one being exactly sure how to pronounce Mennonite. The Sledgehammer episode is making fun of "The Witness" which is a movie where Harrison Ford does undercover witness protection in an Amish community and turns down his hot lady friend.
I live amongst these people, in Lancaster County, PA. Both Amish and Mennonites use "horse & buggy" for transportation (Amish-grey, Mennonite-black), although there are many sects of Mennonites, some of which even drive cars. I actually live about half an hour from where "Witness' was filmed, and this episode is particularly funny, right down to the dramatic chore music! The ending at 23:56 is perfect...
