Okay, so, I don't care what everyone says, between this episode and Nine's 'red bike' scene, I now officially consider canon that the Doctor stops time and goes around giving gifts as Santa Claus every year when he's bored 🤣🤣
You truly saved Christmas even though I just now got to see this cause I was very ill with the flu. Now if guys ever decide to do a sequel or what not. Please do a double doctor christmas special with both the little red and purple doctors. Go all out how ever you can with it. This today was a pure golden moment of pure absolute bravo! 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Luke, Meg, everyone involved. Just fantastic. What a brilliant episode truly so much fun to watch on a day already full of so much excitement to do with Doctor Who 💙💙
Thanks, Luke, for bringing us a Christmas special! It just isn't Christmas without a Doctor Who Christmas Special. It was good to see you return to the role for this. I've been away for a while, but I truly enjoyed your portrayal of The Doctor in your original run.
Whether it's the Little Red Doctor, the Purple Doctor, the Sky-Blue-Pink-with Orange Polkadots and Green Stripes doctor, anything by DW2012 is awesome! Don't stop making fan films!
@@chrispy3369 The "Little Red Doctor" is the "name" of Luke Newman's version of the Doctor. The "purple doctor" is the name of Dominic G. Martin's version of the Doctor. All of these are part of the DW2012 Fan Film series. Watch them. They're pretty good!
Ok Luke, like normal you deliver pure perfection and give us yet another episode to enjoy with the little red doctor. I hope you have a merry Christmas and a happy new year
Luke, I just wanted to thank you for this video. It really didn't feel like Christmas without Doctor Who, and you helped make that happen for me this year.
This actually does something that I wish the New series did. Have the main Doctor's do the series throughout the year then let the old Doctor's do the Christmas special once in a while.
Very nice! I love the acting, the set, the OST, and just all of it! It gives off 60th Anniversary vibes to me if I'm honest. 10/10 production, that goes with all of your other episodes! - Sloth
Don’t get me wrong, I love Dom and Megan’s adventures but it was so good to see you back Luke as the Little Red Doctor. Christmas wasn’t the same without a special from the BBC DW this year so it was amazing to watch this one. It was a great story and the acting was spot I thought the ending was beautifully executed. I admit I was kinda hoping there would be a “Next Time with The Little Red Doctor…” teaser.
I loved this Christmas special, everything about it was perfect. You did a fantastic job Luke! seeing the red doctor and meg back in action defeating the autons was worth watching. you always have a surprise up your sleeve. I cannot wait for what 2023 brings. It’ll be a blast! hope you have a great christmas holiday:)
What an unexpected pleasure! Christmas stories can be hard to do, the subject matter is really narrow, the vibe is focused, and it is so easy to tip over from sacharine to shmaltz. Having said that, this is just wonderful. A few random thoughts. Has someone got themselves a drone to play with? I'm seeing some really interesting altitude and tracking shots, that really add production value. It's amazing how this technology is really opening up genuine cinematic possibilities. Absolutely loved that DW2012 opening, the music, the christmas lights log. Perfectly captures and sets the mood. Really liked that tracking shot from the top of the Christmas tree all the way around to Megan at home. That's some fluid camerawork. Beautiful and assured. That's better than professional. Professional simply implies technical competence. This, this is a film maker's eye, it's an artist at work. Overall, I liked a lot of the cinematography. There are a lot of standard shots, there has to be - sometimes being too funky is distracting. But there is also a lot of really nice visual imagery, camera movement, and it's all edited together very nicely. It looks like Luke and Megan managed to talk their way into a department store after closing time to do some shooting. I wonder how they managed that. Did one of them work there. Or did they find a sympathetic Manager / Clerk / Janitor? In any case, to steal a Smith "Brilliant!" The inherent production value is amazing. It's a complicated, textured three-dimensional space which allows for endless visually interesting shots, a unique depth and background in every frame, the opportunity to do all kinds of things. The scenes of the Auton coming alive, or the Doctor stalking or being stalked, the cat and mouse, this is great. It's a wonderful example of low budget or no budget film making managing to be visually big in scope. Not enough Autons, sadly. There are some great shots. The black hand coming alive, the black auton smashing through a window, the window store dummies turning their blank heads. More! More! Chaos! Crowds running away! Can we have that? Sadly no! Someone really needs to give Luke and Megan BBC level budgets. As it is, we get teased. To be fair though, we've got maximal use. All of the auton shots manage to be creepy in unique ways. The Auton in the department store slowly coming alive and struggling to walk is the best, there's a sense of something being born in uncanny valley. And to be fair, there is so much story going on, that really, all there is room for is to tease us with the various short Auton awakening shots. The story has to move - to the Doctor's counter-move, the confrontation with the Auton, the Christmas resolution. I think more Autons might have dragged things down, like sugar piled on top of ice cream. As always, the by-play between Megan and the Doctor is a pleasure, whether it's the Doctor spinning yarns about knowing Kris Kringle, or the scenes at the gift exchange, there's a chemistry there and a genuineness to the banter which I love. The Doctor effectively becoming Santa Claus one night, visiting every home, is cleverly done. It's a bit techno-babble, but it makes sense within the context of the story, and there's nothing there that hasn't been established in previous episodes. The Nestene Consciousness scheme makes sense, what better time for a plastic monster to insinuate a trojan horse? It's also very 70s, it's such a nostalgic callback to the old Holmes stories, particularly Terror of the Autons. I'm sorry we didn't get to see a plastic child's toy come alive or get malevolent - but I can understand the numerous reasons, both physical, budgetary and story based that didn't happen. The department store Auton freezing back into immobility had just a touch of pathos. Nice. The emotional core, of course, are the final Christmas exchanges, with an effective call back to an earlier conversation. The sentiment feels genuine. I could imagine children watching this over and over and over, or families making it an annual part of their Christmas. It can readily take its place shoulder to shoulder with the professional Doctor Who Christmas episodes. As always, not quite perfect, the economy of the production does show through here and there, the realities of not having (functionally) unlimited budgets or resources or crews, and the need to tell stories within limitations show through. But despite that, what we have here is something amazingly polished. There are commercial and professional productions which simply don't reach this level. Once again, we see what two people with genuine skill and talent (and modern technology) can achieve. And once again, it's just so depressing what a shambles the Chibnall/Whitaker era ended up being. I don't know that it's appropriate or welcome to slag Chibnall/Whitaker in this discussion. But honestly, I got burned out on Doctor Who. I had high hopes for Whitaker, after the bruising ups and downs of the Capaldi era. But Whitaker wore me down, the smarmy incompetence, the contempt for its own material, it killed the show for me. Watching became a chore, I began to resent the show, flickers of optimism or moments of competence would be dashed by the dullness of it all. Doctor Who stopped being enthralling and simply became plodding. I thought maybe I'd finally outgrown it. Or just simply got tired of it. Was it really Chibnall/Whitaker, or had I moved on. I think that what rescued Doctor Who for me, what restored my faith in the show, or engaged my joy and sense of wonder was DW2012. All of a sudden, this summer, coming back to it and systematically watching the Little Red Doctor made Doctor Who wonderful again. All of a sudden, the flaws, the glitches, the compromises and missteps just turned out not to matter. The stories, the brilliant bits, the arcs and accomplishments took over. Life is a mixed bag, there's good and bad always, and what matters is which one counts for you. If Chibnall almost killed Doctor Who for me, DW2012 brought it back to life for me. Thank you, Luke and Megan. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Ho Ho Ho what a Christmas present. This was incredible, this to me is the Doctor who christmas special of this year. I loved everything about it, the plot, cgi, vfx and the new intro for series 4 remastered. The new sonic screwdriver looked very cool, to me it looked like a lightsaber and a sonic screwdriver combined. I also noticed the red sonic used in series 4 on a panel in the Tardis. Seeing The Little Red Doctor and Megan together again was awesome, it reminded me of when I watched series 3 and 4 for the first time. So looking forward to the remastered series and the rest of series 5, no doubt it's going to be fantastic! Happy Christmas and a happy new year to you both Luke and Meg, hope you both have a good day. Thank you very much for this masterpiece!💙🎄👍
