NOTES (In case you're deranged enough to actually play this):
You HAVE to take minion dematerializer and use at least 2 on the caster minions. I did a lot of boring maths and this is the only way to avoid the desire to put a rock through your own face. If you don't do this you will spend the entire game dealing with minions ommmg i hate those little guys
The last dematerializer is for snap pushing the lane and grouping with your jungler when they decide to start doing something stupid. If this is never needed then put it into caster minions again. Or use it on a super minion 35 minutes into the game because you forgot it was in your bag (i did this twice)
If you start losing it was the jungler's fault
Taking losing trades is fine, just remember to use your Mantra W agressively to make sure they eventually turn into winning trades.
Mantra W is also the longest root in the entire game. Use it when you're getting a gank from your jungler to make sure they're locked down long enough to die.
Unless you can definitely get an ult reset from a big q then absolutely use your ult to give someone a gigantic shield lategame if they need it.
The build as of 14.1 and beyond is as follows:
Malignance - Sorc Shoes - Luden's Companion - Stormsurge - Cosmic Drive - Void Staff
If you fall too far behind to deal 35% of the target's health to trigger stormsurge, skip it and then grab a Rabadon's Deathcap as a 6th item instead.
These notes are written from the perspective of someone who played around 50 games of karma mid for a video and i have lost all my braincells please helppp

Riot designing a champ to be fully functional with 2 items and then surprised when the champ is broken with 4 items. Also support champs just get super strong early games.
When i played Karma like this i went for full Magic pen build, i went Luden's - Shadowflame - Morello with Sorc shoes, it doesn't give much haste, but easily deals 1000 damage to squishy targets, because i have so much pen that my magic damage becomes true
That's a perfectly good way to play, and I almost shipped this video with a version of that, but I tried the ult reset variation and I couldn't go back, I just love the synergy with her passove too much

oh my god ive been rushing imperial mandate karma in ranked it's SO fun i don't even end up building a mythic most games because the enemy team FFs before that
With my three years as a Karma midlaner, I can say that even with strange mage builds this is pure bs. I had a game that ended with me being 44/7 at minute 48 using Riftmaker and Nashor's Tooth. That is fucking abuse and I love it. unfortunately that is not viable anymore, but it was really funny building Nashor's Tooth, Riftmaker and Mejai's Soulstealer as the first items in that order. With Karma's E and the slow of the enhanced Q you can get away without needing boots until late game. And the early farm was really good even without using abilities thanks to the Recurve Bow, It was necesary to build that as early as possible, even if you don't get any AP from it.
I can't say it enought times, it pure and utter bullshit, but I love it. Even with it being not as good as it was in s11.
I haven't played with the s14 changes yet, so maybe now it's an even bigger beast.

As a NH Karma enjoyer, I wonder if this build is still viable in the new season, or if u should switch out certain items for ones like Malignance for the ult CD…
I've updated the description with what I *think* are the best items for her this season, but haven't had much time to actually test it. It does do a lot of damage especially with stormsurge though and has a rediculous amount of haste still
