As the first manager of zoology for Henrico County Recreation & Parks, Jim Weinpress oversees the living collections at Three Lakes Nature Center and Meadow Farm Museum - everything from millipedes and snakes to Jersey Cows and Ossabaw Island hogs.
"When we have guests come into Three Lakes [and] ... walking through Meadow Farm, we really want people to come back with a greater understanding and appreciation for these animals and their roles in the wild and with their history with humans," Weinpress said. "They aren't these scary animals out to get anyone. And in fact, you should celebrate the opportunity, when you get a chance to see one of them, because that is your ecosystem in action."
