This song perfectly fits a situation in my life right now. I've been homeschooled my whole life, but next year I'm going to go to public school. There's this group of five people, they've been my best and closest friends for five years, or more. And, in two days, it's going to be probably the last time I ever see them in person for a long time. Two of these people have been in my life for as long as I can remember, and the other three are such great friends. I really love them all, and for the past two days I've been utterly terrified of saying goodbye to them. But, listening to this song, I realize that maybe it would be better without saying goodbye, because we still talk online, we still could get together at some point. This is just a moment of change, and even though it'll take a lot of getting used to, it'll be alright. I'm an artist, I've tried making pictures of my friends so many times, but it just doesn't work. I'm a writer, they give me advice, they help me with it. But walking in the path they track is impossible, for me, it simply wouldn't work. Every day that I'm alive, I'll be thinking of them, and that would likely change my philosophy. If we pass in the street, if there's a chance we could see each other again, I won't pass that opportunity up. This is going to be a really rough change for me, and I hope I'm not torn apart internally by it.

the problem with most songs these days are about making music to get $$$ instead of making songs because you enjoy it/being passionate about. that's why there's always the same generic love soundtracks with similar beats being pumped out every few months.

Just because rap isn't in your heart, what about those who find it in theirs? People are different, and so their hearts are different. You can't judge what is real music for everyone else out of personal liking. I would agree about "real music" being the music that speaks to you, and thus you're in no position to tell others what real music is to them. So in the end, "real music" both exist and doesn't exist, 'cause for some a song may be beautiful and meaningful, whilst others think it's trash.
I swear these guys are extremely underrated!! I only wish that I knew of them when I was back in high school. Every one of their songs speak to me in more ways than one..

I LOVE ONE REPUBLIC! They are such a talented band. You hear songs like "Apologize" and "Good life" on the radio which are good, but not their best. It is songs like this that make me truly buy into their craft. I wish more people could hear songs like this. This is what really makes them who they are.
